Absolutely loved this campsite..it was so secluded and quiet at the bottom of the mountain in a nice field. The view was amazing. Paul was extremely helpful with all the recommendations. So many places to explore close by or he gave recommendations for us along our drive to our next destination. Bathroom and shower was nice added bonus.

Paul and his wife were an amazing host for many reasons! They have a beautiful fenced in property. We always felt safe and the view was amazing. Paul waited up for us, as we came in late, and made sure we got onto the property with ease. He also gave us a tour of the facility. Paul helped a ton with recommendations in the area, which we tried them all, and it was a wonderful time. He and his wife even surprised my sister with a birthday gift, which was extremely sweet of them to do. They constantly made sure we had wood and water. I couldn’t recommend this spot more! We even saw antelope and eagles on the property. Definitely give it a try, you won’t regret it. :)

Paul and his wife have set up an amazing campground! After chatting with Paul for a bit, it became apparent that he's an avid outdoorsman and camper/RV'er, so he knows how to properly set up a campground! Even the firewood he provided was high quality (not the crappy bundles you buy at Ace hardware). The hammocks on top of the shipping container for star gazing were incredible, and I highly recommend checking them out! I'd definitely visit again.

Upon arrival, our host Paul was there to help us find our campsite. He is very considerate at likes to check in with his campers to see how they are doing. He also gave us directions to some of the locally recommend hot springs. The site it self was free of any rocks or sticks which made finding a place to set up the tent easy. I will say though, it is a bit windy between noon and 5pm but tends to die down after that (trip was in late March). Overall I would give this place five stars, thanks for being a great host Paul!

We spent 3 nights. Paul and his wife were fantastic hosts. They were very personable with a wealth of knowledge of the area. The campsites were immaculate as was the bathroom/shower. We felt very secure there and the stars were absolutely phenomenal. The observation deck with the hammocks were way cool. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

This is hands down my favorite desert camp site. It was secluded, but still an easy walk to the bathroom. Paul was so helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back!

My husband and I car camped and then hiked the Wild Cherry Creek trail, only a ~20 minute drive away from the campsite. Paul's place was easy to find, had amazing views, and felt like its own little slice of the valley - but with amenities to boot 😊 Highly recommend!!

Paul and his wife have an incredible property. Paul met us on arrival and guided us to our site with a stack of firewood ready to go. He was super friendly and gave us a lot of information on the area. The camp sites are spacious and the bathroom and shower are an added bonus. The star gazing is incredible. Highly recommended staying here.

This is such a lovely space! The bathhouse is delightful and so clean. The sunset and stars were stunning, and the space is so private and quiet! Lots of beautiful cactus around so be careful with dogs and kids running around. Thanks for your hospitality!

This was by far my favorite camping experience I’ve had in such a long time!!! Paul was so welcoming, friendly, and accommodating to us and it was a very easy place to find. We got great recommendations for stuff to do near the area and we had so much fun exploring!! We really enjoyed site #4 because it was more secluded in the back and we had plenty of room for the 4 of us! The mountain views were so beautiful and we saw some wildlife as well. We had amazing fires every night when it starts to cool down, and the stars at night are absolutely incredible. We really loved how they have flush toilets, hot shower, hammocks, bean bag toss, firewood, etc! My group has already said that we will definitely be back here soon! I would recommend this place to everyone! 10/10

This site offers a sweeping panoramic vista of the San Luis valley, and is centrally located to a lot of attractions the valley has to offer. Paul and Robin keep the site well maintained and have added homey thoughtful touches to the custom well built shelters, picnic tables and restroom (and soon to be library) on site. The shower and bathroom is clean and works well. Very happy with my stay here, and Paul and Robin were friendly, gracious hosts, and Robin even brought me cookies and a custom notebook which I enjoyed. I would absolutely recommend and would stay here again!

We really enjoyed our visit to Mountain Bird Alpine Site #1. We had 365 views of the beautiful mountains and were only 15 minutes to Crestone! Great location for 14'rs!

I LOVED my stay here and wish I could've stayed longer and spent more time at the campsite itself. Beautiful open skies with mountains so close by, peace and quiet and a nice distance between campsites which I highly value. I was alone the first night and it was wonderful. The camping area is fenced in and has a gate with a code for coming and going. It is about 5 miles of dirt road to reach the property, but I drove a sedan and was fine. The road is well maintained for a dirt road. Frankly this makes my top 2 campgrounds ever and my top one on Hipcamp. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again. And I also highly recommend that you take the recommended itinerary if you only have 1 full days, as I did.

So nice to have a hot shower available, but the best part of this site is the night sky, which is spectacular. I've never seen so many stars. Bring bug spray and keep looking up!

We greatly enjoyed tent camping at Paul's place. He and his parent were very nice and friendly. The area is gorgeous with beautiful views of the mountains around. We shall lots of wildlife. Paul has a platform for stargazing and the view of the stars is remarkable! We didn't stay long, because of scheduling issues, but we wouldn't mind coming back and camping again.

Paul and the camping sites were great! He came over to us when we arrived, he toured the place with us and showed us everything we needed. He gave us recommendations for the Sand Dunes and more. He brought fresh water every day. Firewood was cheap, all you can burn for $5/day. The bathroom and shower were clean and better than most you will find. Sites were large, spaced out so you feel you are completely by yourself. I would highly recommend.

Incredible mountain views surrounded by ranch land. Paul was a helpful, friendly host with several recommendations for places to visit in the area. We really enjoyed the privacy and remoteness of the site. We were playing guitar and frame drum at the fire and Paul said he couldn’t hear us at all.
Great value and far surpassed the sardine-like campsites at the hot springs.

I wasn't crazy about the cacti completely coating the ground, like grass. But everything else was amazing. They have a shower and toilet. More mosquitos than I expected, but bug spray worked fine. No rain all week, so we left the fly off the tent and fell asleep to the best view of the stars. They are really friendly and knowledgeable about the area, and they recommend great sites and attractions. We saw eagles by their property too. I want to go back already. 👍

It's a good base camp for visiting the Great Sand Dunes, and you have a wonderful view of the nearby Sangre de Cristo Mtns. There is access to a shower and toilet, as well as hammocks to view the Milky Way at night. The hosts lovingly maintain the 40 acre property and are available to answer any questions. We chose site 4 which was the farthest from the bathroom and other campsites, and gave us more privacy and space to have our dog off leash. We enjoyed our 2 nights there and plan to return again!

Easy access, private owned, owner Paul is awesome stayed up late to make sure we got to where we were going. Clean bathroom. Easy to navigate. Some cacti along the way but camp sites are clear and flat.
