ISLAND IN THE SKY - GORGEOUS VIEWS! This is a very special property. It has six very unique sites. Secluded. Great for night sky photograpy or daytime nature scenes.  Tiny house design prototypes can be reserved to hang out. Trails, wildlife & heavy vegetation on very rugged terrain. Aqueduct on property - very rugged hike.  Overlooks the North Fork of the Calaveras River. Drive one mile of mountain fire road to access the property. The Hipcamp sites feel very isolated and natural.

VERY QUIET! (No stereos, radios or speakers allowed!)

SITE 1. PLATEAU AT THE TIPPY TOP. Highest site on the property. Most outstanding long range views.

SITE 2. LONG RANGE VIEWS PLATEAU. Second highest site on the property. outstanding long range views.  Site 2 is slightly larger than Site  with same views.

SITE 3. THE OCTY HOUSE PLATEAU. Second largest plateau on the property. Sweeping views of the river valley from one side of the ridge and of The Planetarium from the other side. You can hang out in the Octy House.  Great for multiple groups camping together.

SITE 4. THE A-FRAME PLATEAU. Best views of the river valley in two directions. (A-frame will be completed to hang out in this summer. )

Site 5. THE PLANETARIUM. Enormous amphitheater with a naturally dark experience for night sky photography. Largest plateau on the property. Great for multiple groups camping together. Must hike 100 meters from parking to campsite if the road is wet.

SITE 6. THE GLASS HOUSE PLATEAU. Great plateau with long range views. Hang out in the Glass House. Short steep driveway; ok to drive when dry. Supports multiple groups camping together.

SITE 7. SECLUDED LONG RANGE VIEWS. Hidden away on the side of the hill with views and privacy. (Drive in, back out.)

It's a short drive from the property to Mokelumne Hill, Moaning Caverns, Big Trees Calaveras, Mokelumne River, Lake Pardee, Lake Comanche, Jackson, San Andreas, Valley Springs, Murphys, etc.

Four campers per normal booking. Please register your extra guests.

The Island is a large property, and the campsites are relatively isolated. But as you traverse the property, you will pass other campsites. And others may pass by your campsite.

Respect: Quiet strictly observed across the property after dark. No music on speakers at any time!

A final note as the heat of spring and summer approaches. This property is in the burn scar of the 2015 Butte Fire. The views are spectacular but there is no natural shade. If you plan to spend whole days outside, I suggest a cheap camping canopy.

This is a great, private location with a very friendly host! We stayed in the glass house and pitched our tent right outside. There was plenty of firewood at the ready and a table to make dinner and the large store of potable water made for a very easy and relaxing stay. In addition to the large area to leisurely explore, there are really fun artifacts to be discovered, we will definitely be coming back here, highly recommend!

Super beautiful place, super nice guy. Tons of room everywhere on this huge property. Feels like a million miles away, but convenient to Moke Town. Book the rustic Glass House if you can snag it. Views for days. And watch for the resident fox who lives here!

We had a wonderful time at Jeffrey's place. He and his friend were super friendly welcoming us, and the campsite has amazing views of the stars and the surrounding countryside. He is building a number of structures on the site, and he let us stay in his "glass house" which is a great place to watch the sunrise. Highly recommend.

Jeffrey was super friendly and communicative! The place is equal parts funky as it is gorgeous. You have so much space to yourself to explore and relax. The buildings around the property are a trip too.

We had a great trip staying at Jeffrey's place. We got to stay at the glass house, which is comfy and cute. It is hard not to drive over some plants along the way to the place. There is a USB charging station (solar powered) in the glass house, and he also provided us with some flashlights and matches to make fire, if permitted.

Absolutely beautiful!!! The place was set so high up you have an unobstructed view of the surrounding mountains and a glimpse of the river below. It was so secluded providing privacy away from it all, but convenient enough and just a short drive to the river and historic downtown below. We had fun going "off-roading" for a few yards into the property. But it's easy to miss had it not been for Jeffrey's precise instructions and the marker (half stone wall and old oak tree stump) outside as you turn right. The glass house was beautiful, as was the octo house and the yurt (which was Jeffrey's nest). We got a bonus: a full moon during our stay. It illuminated our site without the need for a flashlight. Jeffrey was a charming host and introduced us to his friends and his "Namh" (I hope I spelled that right?). We will definitely come back!!! Thank YOU, Jeffrey!!!
