At the designated tent camping sites, you will find oak groves that provide opportunities for shade. The RV sites are in a picturesque field that provides excellent views of the sunset. The field leads down to incredible cypress trees lining the Medina River. We also have a primitive camping area down by the river that requires you to park in a parking area and walk to your preferred camping spot.
If you are looking for solitude and untouched nature, this is the place for you. The comforts of Bandera are conveniently only a 5 minute drive away. We are located less than 2 miles from Bandera City Park!
At this time, all sites are completely dry. We do have porta-potties available. RV sites are boondocking only (no water or electric at this time.)
Our slice of land on the Medina River is truly gorgeous! There are beautiful cypress trees that are magical year round, and there are often small rapids. If relaxing in the shade by the river and dipping your feet in is your thing, our property is perfect for that! However, this is not a swimming hole. The Medina River is generally not considered safe in Bandera, TX, due to consistent low flow. Swim at your own risk.

1100 acres of gorgeous natural land at the headwaters of the Medina River. Crystal clear and clean spring feed water. Fourth-generation family owners. Remote camping. Very private with plenty of varied terrain for hiking swimming, tubing, biking or just hanging out in a hammock enjoying the breeze and peace and quiet.
About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out.
NO FISHING
As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around.
We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails.
There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful.
We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch.
Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are--
1. Below the Green Cabin
2. Another my brother likes that has a cypress tree submerged you can sit on he calls the 1000 waterfalls
3. big pond

1100 acres of gorgeous natural land at the headwaters of the Medina River. Crystal clear and clean spring feed water. Fourth-generation family owners. Remote camping. Very private with plenty of varied terrain for hiking swimming, tubing, biking or just hanging out in a hammock enjoying the breeze and peace and quiet.
About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out.
NO FISHING
As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around.
We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails.
There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful.
We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch.
Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are--

2. Another my brother likes that has a cypress tree submerged you can sit on he calls the 1000 waterfalls
3. big pond

You and your family have plenty of things to do here to escape the rigors of your own lives. Johnson's boyhood home contains artifacts from his childhood, including a baseball glove and ball. The president loved cars. You can view a 1915 fire truck, 1934 Ford Phaeton and a rare Amphicar, a car designed to travel on land and water. He also owned a Jolly 500 Ghia, a gift from the owner of Fiat. There's even that era's Air Force One, the plane Johnson used to get to the ranch.Pets are allowed. Had a tremendous time at Chula Vista Farms. What made it especially memorable was meeting and chatting with Judith—she’s incredibly interesting, thoughtful, and cultured. It was truly a pleasure spending time with her. The campsite itself is peaceful, and it’s an easy walk into Helotes, which was a big plus.

Micheal is incredibly cool and his property is just perfect. Waking up to horses and not being bothered the entire week was priceless. Michael is incredibly responsive and accommodating and I will absolutely come back. I camped primitively but accomodations such as shower, toilet and free laundry are available 24/7. Firewood and essentials are available, just ask. Everfree Shire is in my opinion perfect. Give it a try!! You can't find better at Mike's rates

About
Close to San Antonio, you can skip the dude ranches and visit this state park. You can ride across the flat prairies or venture up into the rocky canyons.
Throughout the park, there are water troughs to keep your horse hydrated. Trails crisscross the park, and you can hike on foot if you didn't bring a horse.
The Heritage Loop is a trail with great views. You wander past what's left of a ranch. Looking for something a little more challenging? With a steep climb, the West Peak Overlook pays off with stunning views in every direction.
Numerous primitive campsites dot this state park with vault toilets nearby. Prefer to camp with your horse? The park offers primitive and group equestrian campsites with a barn and corral to keep your horse comfy.
If you prefer a few modern comforts, the group lodge is for you. This 1930s ranch house has a kitchen and modern bathrooms.

- Check trail and campsite availability in advance, as closures can occur due to weather conditions.
- Bring all necessary supplies, including water and firewood, as there is no park store.
- Pets are welcome but must be leashed at all times to preserve the natural habitat.
- Stay informed of fire danger conditions and burn bans by contacting the park before your visit.
- Office hours are from 8:15am to 4:45pm, and reservations are highly recommended for both camping and day use.

Love this campground. Large, spacious, fire pit, picnic table, lantern hook. Lots of trees. We went in early November when the creek was low, so we didn't get to hear the relaxing sounds, but it was still an enjoyable weekend.

Great spot for groups with mixed outdoor comfort levels. You're far enough from camp roadways and not quite "car camping" but you're also close enough to lug in all the comforts you need to accommodate your less camp ready friends.
Additionally, the 4 lots are nicely spaced out giving you a bit more privacy and minimizing noise levels of those nearby.
We spotted wild turkey right next to camp and were able to take the nearest trail to the main part of the park rather than driving on the roads. Great spot.
