Beautiful spot peaceful and private, well maintained and friendly. The river was so clear. We would definitely stay again. Our children loved the horses too.

Amazing site, very private. Well kept grounds with wide open spaces all around the site as well as the walkways to the river. River side beach also amazing, picnic table and hammocks to relax by the river, we loved it!

Roberts land was great. It’s a nice peaceful place close to a fresh, refreshing, slow moving river.
My son and I had a great time explore and just enjoying nature.
Our family had an excellent time at the Private River Getaway Campsite #1.
Good things:
The site is very private. We saw Rob once during our five-day stay. We did not see anyone else until the last evening when the another group arrived at site #2.
The beautiful Salmo River is a few minute walk from camp.
The treehouse is pretty cool. Fresh water and outhouse were conveniently located and were clean and functional. The wood deck will fit medium size tent. RV and trailer spots are good. There are lots of small signs for directions.
Rob is super friendly and responded to our text messages right away.
There were lots of chipmunks, birds, and dragonflies. Minimal bugs.
Salmo is a two minute drive away. Good coffee shop, grocery store, brew pub, hardware store, gas station, farmers market.
Things of note:
Hearn Creek is seasonal, so there is no creek/river directly beside the campground in the summer.
The campsite is way back from the highway, but you can still hear traffic. There is very little traffic during sleeping hours.
Our six person tent was too big for the wood platform. There rest of the site is not quite flat. There was a medium size bear lurking in the forest surrounding the campsite for days. It was pulling down small trees to eat the berries. Robert’s dog, Camper, chased it off on our first morning. We kept all our food, kitchen, and other attractions locked in a truck when not in use. The closest the bear came to the campsite was approximately 80 to 100 feet.
Awesome place to camp! The spots are huge, have a picnic table, fire pit and the nicest campsite toilets I’ve ever seen. Both the rock beach and sandy beach are amazing! We spent a lot of time down at the river swimming and floating, walking the trails was perfect for our dogs too. Great place to spend a few days with the family. There’s a great cafe in Salmo about 2 minutes away, and you’re about 30 minutes from Nelson. Highly recommend staying here!

Camped at site #2 with my husband, son and 2 dogs. We have a roof top tent and had plenty of room once we opened everything up. Lovely separate area with a fire pit for a campfire as well. Both sites also have their own personal outhouse (that I have to say was the nicest and cleanest outhouse I’ve ever experienced. Added bonus they use wood shavings to cut the smell). Beautiful touches around the site, was the solar lights to outline your area and help when it got dark. They also put up strings lights you can turn on/off if you’d like a little more lighting, as well as a sensor light in the outhouse. Loved the forest paths (with signage so you don’t get lost)that allowed you to walk around the property and right down to the Salmo River. Enjoyed a lot of time down there during the day.
Will definitely go back if in the area again and would recommend to others!

Absolutely awesome place to stay, very private and in a beautiful forest right by the Salmo River. Neat and clean toilet and campsite. A little bumpy to get in to the site but we had no trouble in a large Canadream transit van. Well worth it.

We were originally booked for 1 night at Roberts, but extended for 2 more nights once we got there. We LOVED this campsite, it was so private, and the trails down to the river behind the site were beautiful and peaceful! Having a reactive (non aggressive) dog, this site was perfect as we didn’t have to worry about other dogs or lots of people, and we were able to relax fully when we got back to camp at the end of our adventures. Hope to be back to this site in the future!

The campsite was excellent, kids loved the treehouse. the beach area by the river was vey nice, you can tell the owners have put alot of work into it. Felt very private and secluded in the trees. Having a water tap right in camp was also extremely convenient.

We had such an amazing stay on Robert’s property! Exactly as described - private, lots of trees and a short walk to the river. We enjoyed the beach areas and swimming with the dog in the nearby swimming hole. You can tell the owners take pride in the place as everything is very well maintained and marked off. We would definitely return and recommend to others!

Stayed two nights. There was a new large tent pad that I was able to squeeze a large (6 person) tent on without issue. It's a quiet/ private spot a short walk from the river, which is nice to walk along. My dog loved it, hope to come back :).

Pasture with Farm Views
Rob is a wonderful host who definitely goes above and beyond for his guests. The river is an absolute highlight - just a few minutes’ walk, and you’ll find the clearest water, surrounded by mountains and forest, all to yourself! We had a great stay and would 1000% recommend it!
Super private spot nestled in the trees which we were extra grateful for when it rained. The river closest to the campsite was dried up but we didn’t mind. So nice that you have a toilet and water so close and all to yourself!

Mosquitoes, uneven ground, no view

If you like mosquitoes, no view and really bumpy uneven sloping ground to sleep on then this is your spot! There was not one level spot anywhere for the tent!!!! Stars in the sky I could see barely through the thick forest this sits in. About 10 minute muddy walk to the view in the picture. Had to put up the tent quick and get in since you are no where near water and in thick wet forest so just swarming with mosquitoes. The bowl in the toilet sits perfect to spray pee back up and around and if you’re skinny you can actually feel the bowl on your bum. I was able to fall asleep, had the root at my lower ribs under my big air mattress hiding in the tent for hours to avoid mosquitoes, with my ear plugs in about ten to the non stop sound of dogs barking. Unfortunately, at 5 am waking to the dogs barking was unable to go back to sleep since the highway noise starts non stop at the same time.

Stayed here for one night when we were in a pinch. It was secluded and pretty quiet. Tree house was neat. Watch out for the skeeters! Nicest outhouse of the trip!

Oh my this is a great spot if you like secluded forest camping, which we do! Super clean composting toilet, and a fresh water spout were greatly appreciated. Short walk down a path to the river, where we saw a bald eagle. There’s a cool treehouse that the kids enjoyed climbing up into. This is my kinda camping. Nobody else in sight. Loved it!
