Second time here and I hope to keep coming back! Didn't have any issues on the roads with my SUV. the campsite is perfectly maintained and close to the outhouse. There was some firewood there for us. The river area had lots of tall grass but totally worth it for the private beach!! Tons of raspberry bushes and we even found some blueberries! Its the only beach I can take my dogs to as they're fearful of stranger dogs and we love coming here so much!!

Had a great boondocking stay at Shelagh’s Fern Gully campsite: clean, oh so blessedly quiet and private with a lovely walk down to the river and adjacent access to Clearwater/Wells Grey Park. I highly recommend if you camp self-sufficient.

If you are looking for a rustic hideaway in the woods, this is your spot. The site is a cozy nook off of the shared road, and you will feel like the only people on earth. The little outhouse is an unexpected plus!
There are train tracks, with frequent trains, however there was no whistle, so it didn’t bother us at all.
I wouldn’t recommend the road in, with a small car.

My husband and I stayed here with our 3 boys and doggo. We loved the spot, it was so private, very close to wells gray for hiking and we felt completely immersed in nature. There was even your very own outhouse that made our stay that much more comfortable. We enjoyed the short hike down to the river and got to watch a bear on the other side catching his dinner. The site is close to the train tracks so you frequently have the noise of trains going by, but we didn’t mind it at all. The ground is slightly sloped, but not terribly…just make sure to pitch your tent so your heads uphill.
We enjoyed our stay overall and would definitely return. Thank you Shelagh for hosting us!

Fantastic stay I received great directions from the owner and was warned about the road ahead of time. The site itself is private and large - and the new outhouse is a nice feature. Our favorite part was the private beach - we stayed there so long we didn't have time for our itinerary at Wells Gray!

The strength of this Hipcamp site is the river access, which is a 10 minute walk away down a lightly used dirt road. The campsite itself is nothing special, just a small, not very level cleared area next to the road, with a picnic table and fire ring. It was raining during my stay, and the river was flooding, so I didn’t get to experience the beach. Nothing against the site per se, but something to consider if the pictures of the river and beach are what caught your attention.

Great stay here! Camp was set up well with table, fire pit and outhouse. It was cool to hear the trains going by, soothing without the whistles like you find in the city. The river is a bit of a walk but absolutely beautiful to sit on the sand down there. Would return!

It was a nice quiet spot to camp. Definitely gives the vibe of total seclusion from society despite knowing there is a community nearby. It was great watching the stars while we fell asleep. We will definitely re book this spot when traveling through again.

This site is very close to the description, but even more magical!
Shelagh and her family are wonderfully friendly and have created the most tranquil site I have been to yet!
The site is nestled in the woods with a comfy table and bench close to the fire pit. They even provided some wood for me to have a fire.
There’s complete privacy here, save for a truck or two that uses the road to service the train tracks that are near by. The train does go by every now and then which is kind of cool to go watch.
I found there was so much to explore at this site! Including the river that’s a short walk away and little trails and fields that me and my little dog frequented.
There’s also wildlife in abundance here, which is beautiful. If you decide to stay here, you should take precautions to keep yourself protected from the wildlife and to protect the wildlife as well.
If you are looking for a wilderness adventure that has the feeling of being the only person around for miles, this is it!

Great site! Shelagh was very prompt in replying and everything went seamlessly. Just a heads up, this is a site in the middle of the bush, so if you are camping for the first time alone, just be aware that there isn't anyone else nearby.

This site was an amazing little get-a-way from the hustle and bustle. The road is a little bumpy but I was easily able to manage it in my sprinter van no problem. The new outhouse is gorgeous and the small private beach by the bright blue river was a once in a lifetime experience. Would definitely stay here again in the future, especially with a few friends or a larger group!
The site is 100% private during the afternoon/evening, which as a solo traveler got a little freaky but would be awesome with a group/if that is what you are looking for. In the morning, a few work trucks headed to some jobs down the same shared road drove by but otherwise did not see anyone while out there!

Unfortunately we didn’t get to stay here because our Volkswagon golf is too low riding and doesn’t have a belly plate, to make it through the potholes on the way in. But any vehicle with a little more lift would be just fine! Shelagh was great to communicate with and answered all my questions. She even gave us a refund which was unexpected and welcomed.

The tent site was really nice and just a short walk to the river. The bugs were pretty bad at dusk but went away when the temperature cooled down. It was really cool to fall asleep to the coyote songs!

We had a great time at Tent Forest Campsite #1. The site was clean and as described. The road to get there was a little rough but we managed to do it in our minivan. Shelagh provided us valuable extra information and was all around nice.
The pit toilet in the forest was a personal highlight as well as the short walk to the river.
Be aware that there are train tracks no too far down the road, nothing to worry about, just some noticeable noice.

Ultra private, peaceful, dark sky site. Our dogs loved it. Quick walk to river. Perfect overnight spot while road tripping or base camp for exploring Wells Gray and area. The host, Shelagh is a great communicator. We will definitely stay again!

Beautiful forest setting. The site is well equipped and maintained, and feels very remote even though it is only a short drive from the main highway. The river access was a great bonus! Shelagh was a very helpful host.

Great spot to camp! it was the only site there and had brand new outhouse facilities close by. Short walk down to a nice little sandy beach by the river too. Host was very friendly and accommodating. Would stay here again

We really, really enjoyed the stay on Tent Forest Campsite, the spot was perfectly clean, surrounded by that glorious nature, a short walk to the train railway and another short walk to the river, we even had a perfect shower during our second night that made our sleep so pleasant. We'll definitely be coming back.....

We happened across this spot as we were transiting across two provinces -- and we are glad we did. Shelagh was friendly and responsive and the spot was a lovely, private, spacious spot complete with a firepit, picnic table, logs to sit on, and even some firewood provided (with lots of deadfall to pick from).
The spot was private and lovely. It was surrounded by beautiful fall trees, with a nice breeze occasionally blowing down colorful leaves. You can hear the river in the distance and an occasional passing train. This feels very much like a vagabond's dream spot. One note: the ground is slightly unlevel, so when tenting pick high ground for your head.
We look forward to a return visit.

We loved camping here, the directions were easy to follow and the area felt so private. There was a picnic bench, fire pit, and toilet with toilet paper. There was also firewood there to use, although there was a ban so we didn’t light one. I would give this 10/10 and definitely recommend to a friend
