4 sites ¡ RVs, Tents195 acres ¡ Geneva, OH
Purchased by my grandfather back in 1953 it has been a diverse fruit farm for many years.  Currently we have almost 200 acres, a lot of it woods.  We don't currently grow the crops that we did but we have planted some wine grapes in the last several years.  As we also have a winery, The Winery at Spring Hill, we wanted to get some of our own grapes in the ground.  We have several places for tent camping and we have a large parking lot at the winery for RV parking.Learn more about this land:Right in the middle of Ohio's Wine Country!  Enjoy an evening at our winery or take the day and explore the 26 wineries in the area.Woods and fields surround the camping area.  Close to the natural beauty of the Grand River (State Wild and Scenic River). Sawdust FarmCamp

4 sites ¡ Lodging, Tents400 acres ¡ Geneva, OH
Welcome to Sawdust FarmCamp! Located in Geneva, Ohio. We have four different sites to choose from: 1 tent site, 2 glamping tents, and 1 cabin. Portable toilet available, pets welcome, campfires permitted. Potable water and hot water showers are only available at our glamping sites (not the tent site). Naturalist Isabelle H. Klein wrote a collection of letters from her home of Sawdust (named form the sawdust left by the loggers of the early 60’s) for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Explorer Magazine from the winter of 1969 to the summer of 1976. They then were published as the book “Letters From Sawdust” by the Press of Case Western Reserve University for the Museum. It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden. In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers. The original small family farm and surrounding woods we have retained are being restored and updated. We are proud to call Sawdust home and would love to share it with you.

The best camping near Geneva State Park guide

Overview

About

Whether you want the vibe of a summertime beach vacation or a serene nature retreat, you can find it at Ohio’s Geneva State Park. Sunlovers flock to the sandy beaches to play in the waves of Lake Erie or stroll the streets of the nearby resort getaway of Geneva-on-the-Lake. The freshwater marshes offer a chance to slip away into your own slice of the coast, where unique flora and fauna thrive. Set sail from the Geneva Marina, try your hand at catching the plentiful walleye, or hit the six miles of hiking trails. Overnight accommodations include a campground, lakefront lodge, and luxury camping cottages.

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for views: Geneva Campground’s premium full hookup sites offer amenities for larger RVs and waterfront views.
  • Best for a classic campout: Geneva Campground’s non-electric sites are perfect for tent campers.
  • Best for shade: Many of Geneva Campground’s electric campsites are located in the woodlands.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Reservations may be made online on the Ohio State Park website or by calling (866) 644-6727.
  2. Walk-up reservations are not accepted.
  3. Select from premium full hookups (which are located on the waterfront), full hookups, electric only, or non-electric sites.
  4. Reservations may be made up to six months ahead of your arrival date.
  5. Weekend stays require a two-night reservation, and select holiday weekends require a three-night stay.
  6. Weekends and holidays, especially in summer, may fill well in advance due to the popularity of this state park.
  7. Water hookups are not available November 1 through March 31.

When to go

Summer is peak camping season due to the popularity of lake activities like swimming, fishing, and boating. High temperatures may reach the 80s and dip into the 50s overnight. Spring and fall are generally cool, with the forest colors usually popping in early October. While winter brings high temperatures in the 30s, lows in the teens, and limited amenities available at the park, recreational opportunities continue to be plentiful, including snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing. Special events are hosted at the campground, including an annual Halloween campout.

Know before you go

  • Fishing expeditions can be booked at Geneva Marina.
  • Paddle boats and kayaks may be rented at the neighboring Lake Erie Canopy Tours.
  • Paved hiking and biking trails connect the campground to the beachfront.
  • Venture into the surrounding countryside to explore Ohio’s Wine Country.
  • A camp store is open seasonally onsite, offering firewood, ice, camping supplies, and more.
