With over 230 acres, a lake, trails, the Grand River, plenty of wildlife, and FREE firewood. Bass and Buck Adventures is the perfect place to get away. Once known as Parkman Gorge the valley was a hub for water powered industry in the early 1800's. The river and valley is home to a wide array of wildlife. Deer, turkey, eagles, hawks, owls, mink, river otters to name a few. The area also attracts many song birds including a wide variety of warblers. There is also an abundance of wild flowers. The valley is rich in Native American history. Many artifacts have been found on the property. My great grandfather talked about the last Native American to live in Parkman. He had a cabin on one of the bluffs along the river. In the 1820's there was a water powered sawmill, flaxseed mill, and forge on the river. The boy scouts used the valley for a camp in the 1920,s. My grandpa purchased the property in the 50's from Ohio Edison. Ohio Edison's plan to dam up the river for hydro power never materialized. The valley has been a favorite for outdoor enthusiasts. Camping, hiking, fishing, hunting. Many of the items used for the camp sites have been reclaimed. The fire rings are old tractor rims and scrap steel. The tent platform is from reclaimed deck lumber. Forge Hill

Forge Hill sits at the base of a natural cliff that was formed by the Grand River. In the early 1800's there was a forge located on this site. You can still see remnants of the building in the river bed. You can drive up to this site. There is a picnic table, and a fire ring, and the porta potty is a short walk. Forge Hill is a roomy campsite able to accommodate several tents.  Great for larger groups. Free firewood is available, along with wagons to haul it back to your campsite.

Big Bend

Big Bend is located on a large bend along the Grand River allowing for a beautiful view. This site is about a half mile from the road providing extra quiet to enjoy natures sounds. If you have a SUV you can drive to the campsite. There is a rustic picnic table and benches, along with a fire ring. Free firewood is available. Wagons are provided to haul firewood to the site.

Lake View is tucked away on a wooded hillside at the end of our 3 acre lake. If you enjoy fishing from your campsite then this is your spot. There is a rustic picnic table and benches, along with a fire ring. Free firewood is available. We provide wagons to haul the firewood to the campsite. The 1850's Clinton Railroad earthworks are still visible on this part of the property .

Deep Woods

This is a hike in only campsite. Deep woods is the perfect site if you want to experience all things wild. Just feet from the Grand River. Quiet wooded site with room for a tent, hammock, and other creature comforts. Fire ring, and picnic table provided. Deep woods is about 3/4 of a mile hike on a muddy woods trail. Cars cannot be driven to this site. If you want to try this site, but do not have the means to get your creature comforts to the site we do offer gear transport from the parking area to the campsite. The fee is $25. I work to around 5:00 on week nights. See the extras.

Cozy Creek

This campsite is a great cozy spot for a couple to get away. Like all the sites Cozy Creek is right on the river. The river is shallow in front of this site making a great place for kids to catch crawfish, and enjoy nature. There is room for a larger tent or a couple small tents. We put together a rustic cherry table and bench. Plus the fire ring. The site is a short walk from the parking area, and porta potty. There is free firewood available, as well as wagons to haul the fire wood to the campsite.

Do you love to camp? But don’t always have the time to get the gear ready or cleaned up? This site is for you. It includes a 13’ carpeted bell tent on a raised platform. There is a queen sized camping cot topped with 4” futon mattress. The mattress cover is washed after each camper visit. The tent will be set up and ready for your gear when you arrive. This site is great for an easy comfortable weekend getaway. Just bring your sleeping bags or comforter and pillows, food, and cooking gear. This is also a great sight for anyone just getting started camping. Clip Clop is a wooded camp site along the Grand River. Tucked in near a hillside that once carried water to an 1830's Forge.  This site is close enough to the road to allow you to listen to the clip clop of the Amish horses while you drift off.  Even though this site is close to the parking area, and port-a-potti you will still feel secluded, and in the heart of the outdoors.

Hidden Valley

This is a hike in only campsite. Hidden Valley is our most remote site. It is nestled in a narrow steep walled valley that was carved by a small spring fed stream. Hidden Valley is about a 1 mile hike. If you want to try this site but do not have the means to get your creature comforts to the campsite we do offer gear transport from the parking area. The fee is $25. On week nights I get home around 5:00. See the extras to choose the option.

This was the second time I came to this property and I will say Rick is just an amazing host. The property is well taken care of and the spots are quiet. We went for a hike and it was peaceful, everything we wanted for the day!

Forge Hill
Forge hill was perfect. It was easily accessible had a good fire ring and table. Rick provides firewood, which is very convenient. We caught many bass, bluegill, and catfish in the stocked lake. There are also kayaks, a canoe, and a paddle boat to get out on the water.

Great site, Clip Clip was a bit further then expected from area we could drop off supplies from. Amazing listening to river run next to the site. Firewood that was provided was seasoned nicely and available too get to the site easily with provided carts. Parking area was not very well marked on site, but plenty of room so it didn't seem to matter.

I would not have previously considered the Cleveland area to be a camping destination, but this site is worth the trip in and of itself. The property is so peaceful and beautiful, with massive old growth trees and a lovely creek. I’ve never heard such a chorus of insects, birds, and frogs anywhere I’ve camped before. Rick is a great host and kindly set us up with firewood when we told him we’d be getting in late, which we really appreciated. While this site was just a quick one night stop for us I hope to come back and have a chance to explore more of the property.

We absolutely loved this spot! Perfectly situated camp site on the river, peaceful, and private even though there were other campers at other sites - we didn’t hear or see them. Kids hiked the trails and had a blast, so much to do and see! The host was also awesome - very communicative and directions made it easy to find. Also having free firewood available was a great bonus. We all can’t wait to go back and spend a bit longer now that we have found this gem!

I absolutely loved this stay. The site was so well taken care of, firewood was fully stocked, and the river water was so insanely clean. Even though we weren’t miles and miles away from other people, we didn’t end up seeing anyone besides Rick for the entire stay, so it really felt like secluded camping. We will definitely be back!!

Very private site and I definitely would stay here again. Rick stocked it with wood and there is so many trails to explore while visiting. It was well worth the hike in.

We camped at the Forge Hill site. Rick was an amazing host! Helpful, and very kind. Thank you Rick for all the awesome free firewood and wagons! We had 2 huge tents and a pop up canopy and had plenty of room. The fire ring was unique and had fish carved in it. We sat right on the river which was so peaceful and pretty. We loved sitting in our camp chairs in the water, watching the water over the rocks… and just to the right of the site, you can walk about 40ft there is a deeper area to get in and cool off. The trees and woods were beautiful and there were gigantic Birch trees! The porta-potty was clean and not too far from our site. The lake is super close… great for swimming, has a slide and zipline! Also canoe, kayaks, paddle boat, and a paddle board. Our 9yr old granddaughter had a ball! Fishing was great too! My husband caught a lot of fish, and he even caught a 5lb bass! It was special also, because our granddaughter caught her first fish, a nice Blue Gill! The trails are great for hiking and the property is kept very nice. Thanks Rick for the best weekend ever! We will be back! 🩷

Rick was very hospitable. Was very clear that he takes great care in maintaining the property and has wonderful sites that offer the perfect amount of privacy and an excellent experience. All of the amenities listed are there and I haven't a single complaint. I would definitely recommend to family friends and anyone who is looking for great camping.

This was a great site, and my first solo camping experience. Rick went out of his way to provide firewood at the remote site, which I really appreciated. I probably won’t choose solo camping again but I’ll be bringing a friend here soon. The valley itself was really pretty. I might recommend tracking your trail on a map on the way in, because you may have a little trouble getting back out. I did okay but didn’t think to do that until afterwards. Thanks again

We had such a wonderful time at Forge Hill. It rained quit a bit while we were there but honestly it just added to the fun of it all. Lots to land to wander around such a beautiful property! Definitely will be booking again! Having firewood was a huge bonus too!

Kids loved the kayaks, paddle board and zip line at the lake. Big Bend was right next to the river and we got some good bites by a bunch of hungry little fish! Rick was nice showing the kids the zip line and fun stuff at the lake.

We had a great time at Bass and Buck Adventures! We stayed at the Forge Hill site. It was a nice big site right on the Grand River. The kids loved fishing and taking the kayaks and paddle board around the pond. Rick was a wonderful host and very helpful.

Rick's land was beautiful and very well laid out. Our site was right by the river, it was very woodsy and felt secluded. There was no one else there while we were camping, but even if there had been it still would have felt private. There are walking trails that go all through the property, it was fun to walk them and check it all out! The port-a-potty was exceptionally clean, like almost surprisingly so honestly. Rick came by and said hello, he was very friendly and offered any assistance if we needed any. He gave us lots of free firewood, and said we could stay longer the next day if we wanted. Unfortunately we weren't able to, but definitely would have if there had been time. It was a great place to stay!
