With over 230 acres, a lake, trails, the Grand River, plenty of wildlife, and FREE firewood. Bass and Buck Adventures is the perfect place to get away. Once known as Parkman Gorge the valley was a hub for water powered industry in the early 1800's. The river and valley is home to a wide array of wildlife. Deer, turkey, eagles, hawks, owls, mink, river otters to name a few. The area also attracts many song birds including a wide variety of warblers. There is also an abundance of wild flowers. The valley is rich in Native American history. Many artifacts have been found on the property. My great grandfather talked about the last Native American to live in Parkman. He had a cabin on one of the bluffs along the river. In the 1820's there was a water powered sawmill, flaxseed mill, and forge on the river. The boy scouts used the valley for a camp in the 1920,s. My grandpa purchased the property in the 50's from Ohio Edison. Ohio Edison's plan to dam up the river for hydro power never materialized. The valley has been a favorite for outdoor enthusiasts. Camping, hiking, fishing, hunting. Many of the items used for the camp sites have been reclaimed. The fire rings are old tractor rims and scrap steel. The tent platform is from reclaimed deck lumber. Big Bend is located on a large bend along the Grand River allowing for a beautiful view. This site is about a half mile from the road providing extra quiet to enjoy natures sounds. If you have a SUV you can drive to the campsite. There is a rustic picnic table and benches, along with a fire ring. Free firewood is available. Wagons are provided to haul firewood to the site.

Forge Hill

Forge Hill sits at the base of a natural cliff that was formed by the Grand River. In the early 1800's there was a forge located on this site. You can still see remnants of the building in the river bed. You can drive up to this site. There is a picnic table, and a fire ring, and the porta potty is a short walk. Forge Hill is a roomy campsite able to accommodate several tents.  Great for larger groups. Free firewood is available, along with wagons to haul it back to your campsite.

Lake View is tucked away on a wooded hillside at the end of our 3 acre lake. If you enjoy fishing from your campsite then this is your spot. There is a rustic picnic table and benches, along with a fire ring. Free firewood is available. We provide wagons to haul the firewood to the campsite. The 1850's Clinton Railroad earthworks are still visible on this part of the property .

Cozy Creek

This campsite is a great cozy spot for a couple to get away. Like all the sites Cozy Creek is right on the river. The river is shallow in front of this site making a great place for kids to catch crawfish, and enjoy nature. There is room for a larger tent or a couple small tents. We put together a rustic cherry table and bench. Plus the fire ring. The site is a short walk from the parking area, and porta potty. There is free firewood available, as well as wagons to haul the fire wood to the campsite.

Had a terrific time tent camping on this property. Well maintained, peaceful, and easily accessible. Beautiful property, and the free firewood was a tremendous bonus. Loved staying right near the river. Would and will absolutely camp here again.

Incredible spot! Super private - the sites and paths are laid out so that you really have to try to come across other campers. We couldn’t hear other guests at all either. The free firewood was so convenient although you may want an axe for larger pieces. The property is full of incredible trails and so thoughtfully designed. Very few bugs because of the moving creek through the property. Porta-potti was very clean. We had plenty of room for 2 tents and 2 cars at the site. Highly, highly recommend!

This was easily one of the best camping experiences we’ve ever had! The campground has such a cool setup, with campsites spread out enough that you really feel like you have your own private space while still having so much to do around the property. The pond was a huge highlight, especially for a family trip. There’s a zip line, slides, paddle boards, kayaks, and plenty of space to just hang out and enjoy the water. We stayed at the Big Bend campsite and absolutely loved it. It’s right on the creek with tons of space and privacy, and it really felt like we had our own little area tucked away in the woods. There are also plenty of hiking trails throughout the property to explore. Rick was an amazing host and gave us lots of helpful information about the property and places to check out. He even provided firewood, which was a really nice touch. We can’t recommend this place enough. It was the perfect camping trip, and we will definitely be back!

This was right on the creek/river and was great! Until it rained 🫠 the mud was hard to deal with, with several kids to contend with. Rick was kind and brought us a cart of wood for a fire. I would definitely camp here again in dryer weather!

Rick’s property was outstanding. it was beautiful, peaceful, and just overall amazing. rick was very responsive and the free wood is such a great add on. easy to find, easy to set up, perfect views, and in such a pretty area of ohio. i would 100% recommend this campsite to anyone.

Rick's land was beautiful! Campsite was very well maintained. Port o potty was clean and spotless. We enjoyed hiking in the river beside the campsite and fishing in the lake. There were families in other campsites, but they were so spread out that we didn't see them except up by the lake. We really enjoyed our time on the property. It was the quiet and relaxing escape we were looking for.

Rick was very responsive. The site felt very remote even though technically it may have not been…we felt very isolated. It was secluded. The fishing was good. Relaxing. Clean. It was a good trip. Only thing we wished was different was that is it had portable bathroom located on the side we were on, there was just one on the opposite side of our site. Not a big deal but would have been nice to have one on the other side as well.

We had the best time tent camping here. From the chorus of green frogs at night to my daughter catching her first fish, we had a magical time. The pond is so much fun. I canoed around it while my dog swam along side- the kids used the zip line and the slide and they can’t stop talking about how much fun they had. Rick is a fantastic host and very accommodating. We will absolutely be back!

The site at Forge Hill was beautiful right up against the river. Easy to drive in and plenty of room for our 8 person tent. The lake on the property was nice and had canoes, kayaks, and paddle board which we took advantage of. Along with a shelter with fishing poles and cornhole. Kind of runned down and some garbage left behind but none the less was nice. Unfortunately I wasn’t expecting to have the noise from the road which you could hear all day and night. The owner also had a roofer working on the barn every evening which was right in front of our campsite. Definitely was expecting more peace and quiet. There was also quite a bit of broken glass all around our site which we had to cleanup so no kids or dogs stepped on it. Be prepared for lots of ticks and bugs! Over all we made the best of it

Forge Hill
We had a great weekend on Rick’s property. We stayed at the Forge Hill campsite which was large and well cared for. Our young teenagers loved playing in the pond, boating, and fishing. As birders we loved listening to all the different songbirds throughout the day. We’d love to return again for another camping trip in the future!

Great place to camp with the whole family. Only stayed 1 night and didn't have time to explore the property but I understand there is plenty of it. Site have a bit of privacy and are easily accessible. The free firewood is an added bonus. Rick is an excellent host.

Rick has a beautiful property that is well maintained and provides a lush, wooded camping experience with good isolation from neighbors. The free firewood was plentiful and we also appreciated the ultra clean porta potty. We had a great time and will return!

We loved staying here! Rick was a great host and quick to respond. We stayed at the Lake View and it was an amazing spot. You are in the wooded area and have to cross a little stream to get to the site without a car but you may park it close by. The porta john is a bit far from the site - so prepare for true primitive camping and have the gear for that if you have little ones. It was a beautiful spot. Definitely recommend! :)

Rick has a really special place! Very peaceful, private, and well kept. We came through on a Tuesday evening so had the whole place to ourselves. Beautiful property with a pond and stream running through. Lots of hiking trails as well. Rick was very friendly and accommodating and also offers free fire wood which was a really nice touch. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

Great spot to camp, my 5 year old son had his first ever camping trip here. We were able to back our truck in to use a truck bed tent right at the campsite. The grounds were amazing, we will definitely be back again!
