This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community. It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. We purchased this farm in 1998 from the previous farmer who had owned it since 1929. The train line ran right by the gate where the Kota hut now sits and would drop cattle right there to be finished and sold later at the Toronto Stockyards. Our barn was built in 1890 with the old farmhouse located across the creek. Two creeks meet the Grand River on our farm. The bunkie is situated north of the barn and faces Willow creek. During the summer the creek gets quite shallow but there are a couple of pools that work nicely for a float with our river tubes. The river also has a small swimming hole. The bunkie is nestled between 2 hills which creates a natural little valley. Campers can take a walk around the property or use the nearby long walking trail. You truly feel like you are one with nature here. At night you may hear the coyotes howling in the distance or hear the local raccoons out on their nightly stroll. You have complete privacy at the bunkie. However, if you need assistance our home isn’t too far away. Please note that it is an off-grid bunkie…which means no electricity! We do have lamps available in the bunkie, however bringing your own headlamp or flashlight is recommended. There is a cute, private outhouse w/ washbasin. We have an outdoor shower a little ways away from the bunkie site, with hot water. There is a double bed in the loft. The pull out couch on the main level also can be converted to a double bed. There is no running water at bunkie, however we will have some potable water provided. You will be met upon arrival. PLEASE NOTE: *There is a strict NO fire rule anywhere on the property. *There is a hill (w/some forest stairs) that you will have to navigate to get to bunkie site. Being avid hikers ourselves, we realize that there are not a lot of accommodations just off the Bruce Trail. So our main goal is to assist hikers as they explore the Bruce Trail. Whether you are doing the ‘end-to-end ‘ in one go (Bravo!), or doing a more relaxed multi day hike, our little bunkie will be a welcome place to lay your head at the end of the day. Our forest bunkie is nestled in the woods, a few minutes walk off the trail, and conveniently located approximately at the half way point of the Caledon Hills section. You truly feel like you are one with nature here. At night you may hear the coyotes howling in the distance or hear the local raccoons out on their nightly stroll. You have complete privacy at the bunkie. However, if you need assistance our home isn’t too far away. Please note that it is an off-grid bunkie…which means no electricity! We do have lamps available in the bunkie, however bringing your own headlamp or flashlight is recommended. There is a cute, private outhouse w/ washbasin. We have an outdoor shower a little ways away from the bunkie site, with hot water. There is a double bed in the loft. The pull out couch on the main level also can be converted to a double bed. There is no running water at bunkie, however we will have some potable water provided. You will be met upon arrival. PLEASE NOTE: *There is a strict NO fire rule anywhere on the property. *There is a hill (w/some forest stairs) that you will have to navigate to get to bunkie site. Mono Mills is 6 minutes away w/ Starbucks, Tim Hortons, gas stations, pizza. Hockley Village is 7 minutes away, with the must visit Hockley Valley General Store. Orangeville is 15 mins away for all food and supplies you may need. We can assist w/ Bruce Trail (Caledon Hills Section) pick ups/ drop offs if we are available.

Beth was the best host anyone could ask for! The bungalow was cut clean and comfortable We had amenities for tea coffee and she was even so kind that she shared some drinks with us because the liquor store was closed. She also provided us with a microwave that was not originally included and it did come in very handy. We felt like we bonded immediately. The hot tub was a delight and heated porch area. Beth was kind enough to allow us to use her bathroom for a shower and it was not ackward at all. We had plenty of privacy. I would highly recommend staying her as it was not expensive at all.

It was still really beautiful to walk around, and there were still lots of restaurants and cute little stores to investigate. The sunset at Lake Erie. was beautiful and everyone was very friendly.

Appreciated that Shelby communicated and met me upon arrival. Was an easy set up and interesting location. Animals are super cute. I imagine the ranch is very lovely in summer. I liked the signage which made it easy to navigate. There’s The Danish Place nearby which is also cool. Was only there for one sleep but was a nice stop on my way back to Ottawa.

John provides a beautiful property to camp on, and a nice way to wrap a day of bike packing. The area is quiet and serene, with a beautiful sunset and sunrise. Having an outhouse, and stations with snacks and fresh water was very convenient. I will definitely camp here again if I'm bike packing in the area.

This Bunkie is perfectly situated for easy driving right up to the door if you needed.

Angie, Bob, Connell, and Chase are wonderful hosts, and the cabin by the creek is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. The musical flow of the creek, the vintage barn, the fields, the apple trees, the tiny kitchen, the midnight moon, and the path by the creek are all enchanting elements of this countryside getaway. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a stay with true country farmstead charm.

So lovely! Amber, husband and all staff were incredible, welcoming and hospitable. We loved staying right with the animals and enjoyed exploring and interacting with the animals independently as well as being invited to feed the animals apples & even bottle feed the babies (I assume we got lucky and this isn't always an offer). The living space is also wonderful. Comfortable, clean and stocked with all that you need. Would recommend this to anyone and stay again anytime!

A dreamy little nook, and so close to the city ! The property is just beautiful and the cabin and little kitchenette had everything we needed and more. There was a really positive energy from the land and the fields. And Angie and Bob went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. I highly recommend the Kota dinner, it was such a highlight. Thanks Angie and Bob for sharing so much of yourselves and your world with us, what a beautiful memory we take with ourselves, we just wish we had stayed longer !
