We drove 1.5 hours to get there, but after seeing the campsite, we turned around and drove all the way back home.
We camp regularly, and we chose this place instead of a provincial park because we were looking for something more private. When we arrived, we were shocked. The area we were shown was either completely surrounded by fences or located right next to the owners’ house.
The information section mentions that you cannot set up a tent near the lake, but it doesn’t mention that there is a house directly behind the lake or that you may have to camp next to a manure pile. You also can’t drive your car to the fenced area, so you have to carry all of your camping gear.
In my opinion, the photos were misleading. This should not be advertised as a wilderness campsite, and it definitely isn’t a private, quiet place where you can feel immersed in nature.
The owners were a very kind and lovely couple, and this review is not about them. However, I think the listing should clearly mention that they work around the property, so you may hear noises such as a wood-cutting machine and see them frequently throughout your stay.
As someone who camps regularly in Canada, I felt I had to leave this review. I’m truly sorry to write it, but I hope it helps future campers know what to expect.
