We are located on the edge of the wilderness just 30 minutes north of Victoria. Our camping area is very quiet and private. We are next to a spring fed lake that contains trout and small mouth bass and it is great for swimming during the summer months. There are no motor boats permitted on the lake, however it is perfect for paddle boards, floaties and kayaks. There are several walking trails throughout our 10 acre property and the Trans Canada Trail is just minutes away. We have a large lawn for playing frisbee or bocce ball and a corn hole pitch (also known as beanbag toss). There is a fire pit, pinic table, 2 patios with tables, chairs and umbrellas and a pit toilet. A sink and potable water are also available. We are situated in forested land on the edge of the wilderness. There is deer, bear, cougar, beaver, martins and an abundance of birds in the area. Elkwood Farm

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Saanich, Capital
Our property is a small part of what was a large dairy farm situated at the north end of Elk lake. Elkwood farm was subdivided in the 70s and the land has been much loved by two other families before us. When we bought the property it had been home to horses and so we had mostly a blank slate to work on. We put in a large greenhouse where we grow veggies year round. We also built the field garden where we grow more veggies. There are numerous fruit trees, blueberry bushes and a great hedge of raspberries. I am a biologist with a professional and personal passion for birds, with careful planting and garden design as well as feeders and nest boxes I have created a haven for 47 bird species that have been recorded on our land. Squirrels, raccoons, minks, lizards and rodents also make their homes here.Learn more about this land:Rustic and whimsical; our cabin tucked away in a private corner of our tiny farm offers all the delights of camping, without the tent. There is a trail from the farm down to Elk Lake where you can swim, hike, paddle a kayak or cycle the Saanich peninsula. We are located in Saanich, BC on Vancouver Island! After following the Tiny House movement for a few years I decided to build a Tiny House that could offer travellers an opportunity for a small footprint getaway that was close to nature. The 100 square foot space is all cedar and pine with a roof made from recycled tires. The small space has been used creatively with a sleeping loft reminiscent of a sailboat cabin. Please note that there is a tight little staircase with limited headroom to access the loft. Large windows let in lots of light and sweet views of trees, shrubbery and the many birds and squirrels that call the garden home. There is a composting toilet in the separate little outhouse and a private outdoor shower. Close by is a covered outdoor kitchen equipped with all the necessary appliances and equipment to prepare meals (hot plate, microwave, fridge, utensils, pots, pans, and kettle). We have wifi, cell reception and electricity on site. There is free safe off-road parking. If you arrive by bicycle I will provide a free breakfast.I look forward to hosting you!
