We (Brian and Sally) have been re-vegetating the land and living here sustainably being âOff Gridâ for over 45years, surrounded by bush with 3km of Stockyard creek meandering through the valley. HOT and dry summer so the creek is not flowing at present. We would love to share this paradise with those wanting to get away from wifi and the hustle and bustle of city life. (for emergencies we have satellite phone) Children 3yrs and under are free. Dogs welcome but kept on a lead during the evening.
No leeches and No ticks in this area. NO close neighbors. Perfect spot to pitch your tent or set up your camper in the valley. Lots of sunshine and lots of shade. Easy dirt road access (6km) Some sites require/recommend 4WD -some 2WD is fine. Check with us before booking if needed.
Come and take advantage of the Wollombi Valley's beautiful scenery and atmosphere. Sit and relax or get adventurous and explore the area. The historic village of Wollombi is only 25 minutes away, and has cafes, shop, museum and the Wollombi Tavern. The popular Broke and Pokolbin wine regions are a short 25-40 minute drive away in the opposite direction. Yengo National Park has some wonderful look out spots-great to drive to Finchley lookout to watch the sun set or check out Aboriginal art sites.
No guarantee but...You may see wombats, kangaroos, echidnas, goanna's, kookaburras, bower birds, lyre birds, superb blue wren, gang gangs, black cockatoos and maybe a koala... so many other native birds/creatures.

There are numerous cellar doors and restaurants within 1 - 12 kilometers where you can dine and taste the finest food and wine in the district.
Pokolbin is 15mins to the east where you can visit Harrigans Irish Pub, numerous cellar doors and restaurants.
Singleton is about 30mins to the north and has a large shopping centre and many other attractions.
Cessnock is about 30 mins to the East, has a population of over 20,000 people and excellent facilities including a private airport.
Newcastle is about 1.5 hrs drive away and has a commercial airport and many other facilities of a large sea side city.
Wollombi is about 20min drive to the South and is one of the first areas settled in after Sydney. It has many items of historical significance including jail, museum, post office and Wollombi Tavern, the home of Dr Jurds Jungle Juice.
Sydney is about 2.5 - 3 hours south.

The Communal camping area is within walking distance of our amenities block, which offers flushing porcelain toilets and a hot shower. Bush campsites are fully self-sufficient, BYO (bring your own) water and toileting system. All campers are required to take their rubbish home with them as there are no bins on site. Sites available for all vehicle types, from buses and large caravans to fully kitted out off-road vehicles.
We offer a self check-in service with full maps and directions, which means you can arrive anytime you like.

Truly excellent sites at Banjos. Joanne was most accommodating when we arrived offering to show us the property to see where best suited us whilst not hindering the others there. Access is slightly rutted but our 21ft road caravan made it into the first area with no issues just take your time :)
Landscape views were amazing and there was so much space and privacy which was perfect.
Definitely recommend this camp to those who are self contained and who want some space for themselves. 10/10. Thanks Jo!

Plenty of space, the campground was really well maintained. Although we shared the paddock we were on with another camper, it was still a private feel.
Joanne and Barry were great hosts and made sure that we knew if we needed anything they were more than happy to help.

Banjoâs Retreat was an absolute gem. Jo and Barry were such wonderful hosts â incredibly friendly, thoughtful and welcoming from the moment we arrived. You can really tell they care about creating a special experience for their guests.
The campsite itself was unbelievably peaceful. It had such a sense of serenity, overlooking the paddock and dam with the beautiful Watagan Mountains in the background. Waking up and winding down to the sound of bellbirds and other native birdlife, with a fresh breeze drifting through, was just magic.
There are so many lovely bushwalks nearby, and after a day of exploring, it was so relaxing to sit by the campfire in the evening and soak it all in. One of the loveliest touches was watching the cows slowly wander past to say hello â it really added to the charm of the whole stay.
Access was also excellent. We had no trouble getting in and out with our 4WD and off-road 19.61â off-grid caravan, even in the rain, which was a huge plus.
A beautiful, restful spot to switch off and reconnect with nature. We would happily stay again and highly recommend Banjoâs Retreat to anyone looking for peace, scenery and genuinely lovely hosts.

Probably the busiest site I've been so far. But it is well maintained. Lots of people can be a bit overwhelming but I always felt good about where I'm. Good amenities, lovely pool, friendly staff. Most of the spots are flat. Getting in town could be challenging on a Sunday. All in all loved the stay

Campsites right off the freeway, views of the bush or the cow paddocks . We nearly had the place to ourselves, very peaceful. Lots to do in the area. Will definitely stay again.

Perfect camping spot, big green grassed area surrounded by trees and paddocks. The cows came up to the fence in the afternoon and the morning - super peaceful spot will definitely stay again
