Set at the base of the mountains on a beautiful valley floor, located in wine country in the lower Hunter Valley, Cranky Rock gets its name from a 25 tonne sandstone rock that graces our home. The 120 acre working beef and horse farm is situated a scenic 2 hour drive North from Sydney or 1 hour East from Newcastle. Whether you chose to stay of one of our campsites or in our pioneer-style cottage, all visitor being awoken to the natural bush sounds of lyre birds and cooling their heels in the crystal creek at the bottom of the property.  On your way in or out, be sure to check out the boutique village of Wollombi which is just 10 minutes from Cranky Rock, where you'll enjoy wine tasting, fresh produce and quaint cafes. Other must-see's in the area include the Olney State Forest and the Wattagan National Park. The property is located just off a scenic drive, over a 2wd accessible creek crossing. It is peaceful and secluded. Campers can used shared kitchen and bathroom facilities located at the top of the camp area. Dogs are welcome, but as it's a working farm, we ask the remain on leash at all times.

It was a beautiful location, just perfect for a peaceful getaway. Was not crowded which was the best thing and relaxing. View was mind blowing and very easy to get there if you follow instructions.

Lindsay and Pam's land is a true hidden gem. We stayed at the caravan site, which was easily accessible and well-suited for caravans. The peaceful setting and thoughtful layout contributed to a relaxing stay. Amenities included a clean drop toilet and a shower—simple, but everything you need for a comfortable experience. You can tell that Lindsay and Pam care about creating a welcoming and well-maintained space. It’s easy to reach and plenty of attractions in the area, with great directions provided.

Would absolutely recommend for solo travelers and families. There are cows on the property that come and say hello. The views are incredible, especially if you wake up early to see the sunrise above the trees. The property is enough off the main road that you don’t see anyone or hear cars but still close to town that you can pop in for a coffee or explore. The camp site is very big so that you and other campers aren’t right next to each other. Will definitely be back! Can’t recommend enough!

Lovely family camping spot!

What a very special camping spot for my little family. Big open fields, lush and green, wide open spaces without people camped on top of each other. We were in Site 4, it is close to the road which at times can be a bit jarring with the cars noise, but the little walking tracks, the creek, the cows and horses was worth it and made us not mind it too much. Each site has a longdrop toilet which is maintained and there is a hot shower at site 1, which you can easily drive to if you have little ones. I hope to stay at Site 1 next time which I think may be the nicest site, specifically if you have kids. Thanks Pam and Lindsay it was just lovely!
