Banjo’s Retreat was an absolute gem. Jo and Barry were such wonderful hosts — incredibly friendly, thoughtful and welcoming from the moment we arrived. You can really tell they care about creating a special experience for their guests.
The campsite itself was unbelievably peaceful. It had such a sense of serenity, overlooking the paddock and dam with the beautiful Watagan Mountains in the background. Waking up and winding down to the sound of bellbirds and other native birdlife, with a fresh breeze drifting through, was just magic.
There are so many lovely bushwalks nearby, and after a day of exploring, it was so relaxing to sit by the campfire in the evening and soak it all in. One of the loveliest touches was watching the cows slowly wander past to say hello — it really added to the charm of the whole stay.
Access was also excellent. We had no trouble getting in and out with our 4WD and off-road 19.61’ off-grid caravan, even in the rain, which was a huge plus.
A beautiful, restful spot to switch off and reconnect with nature. We would happily stay again and highly recommend Banjo’s Retreat to anyone looking for peace, scenery and genuinely lovely hosts.

Campsites right off the freeway, views of the bush or the cow paddocks . We nearly had the place to ourselves, very peaceful. Lots to do in the area. Will definitely stay again.

Banjos Retreat is a lovely spot with a peaceful setting and a nice place to unwind. The location itself is great once you’re there and we enjoyed the quiet surroundings.
That said, communication could definitely be improved. We found it hard to find the host when we first arrive who seem to not know that we were actually coming, which made parts of the stay more stressful than it needed to be after driving the whole day.
It’s also worth noting that the track in can be quite challenging, especially with wet weather. The access road would be difficult for some vehicles when conditions aren’t ideal, so it’s something future campers should be aware of.
Overall, a nice place with potential, but better communication and clearer warnings about access would make a big difference.

Arrived and no host. A little concerning as we were towing a caravan and the track going in was ungraded. Got onto the first camping spot and found a relatively flat spot. The next spot further up, would have been a great spot to camp but the track in was too dodgy towing a caravan. All in all we had a good night and may return

Perfect camping spot, big green grassed area surrounded by trees and paddocks. The cows came up to the fence in the afternoon and the morning - super peaceful spot will definitely stay again

Great spot. Well located close to shops if needed. Private and lively bush setting. Some sites will need a 4WD to access but there are alternatives if you only have 2WD.

Very relaxing and peaceful stay over the long weekend. So close to home yet seems so far away from it all. Highly recomended as a great place to unwind and get back to nature. Barry is a brilliant host and couldn't be more accomodating. We hope to be back soon.

We loved camping at this beautiful tranquil spot for 3 nights! Perfect location, close to everything if needed but far enough away that you truly felt you were alone in the bush. Barry was a wonderful easygoing host and the property is perfect for some off grid quality family time!

A big thanks to Barry for helping me change my caravan tyre that I blew on the way in - missed the rock ;) but found a replacement nearby & thoroughly enjoyed my stay .

A spur of the moment one night getaway. Got the chance to use our van off-grid, had the place to ourselves, very minimal service, all was perfect! We highly recommend this place for relaxation in nature, the host Barry is a top bloke.
Just proves you never need to go too far from home to escape reality & unwind. We will be back for a longer stay. Thanks heaps!

A relaxing couple of days at Banjo’s Retreat - so close to the freeway yet far enough that you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere. Barry has multiple sites but each one feels like you’re all on your own. Thanks for a great stay!

Great Stay! Just what my partner and I were after. Camped out in our van for the night. Barry kindly showed us to our spot on entry. Access was great, space was well looked after and provided more than what we needed. Would definitely recommend it! Thanks again!

Scared there wasn’t many options during the Easter break, we found this little gem.
Busy but spacious, relaxing and a great little track down to the plot.
4 of us and a dog, there was plenty of room for all, only 7mins from town, with plenty of amenities and things to do.
The host Barry and Jo are lovely and take great care of their property and guests, and shows in how popular the grounds were.
Will return happily specially as it’s a short trip from the CBD.

We were the only ones camping on the night we were at Banjo’s Retreat. Torrential rain made towing a caravan with a regular SUV a little tricky but Barry was super helpful to take the stress out of a day when Mother Nature wasn’t so happy! Recommend the first area, Wedding paddock in really bad weather, otherwise Sunset Paddock out the back is a beautiful spot. Barry will guide you accordingly!
