Welcome to Emu creek Retreat One of the best destinations for hiking, camping, bushwalking, swimming, Kayaking, fishing, mountain bike riding (bicycles only), bird watching, 4wdriving and even fossicking., Dogs, men's best friend, are definitely welcome. But if your dog is not friendly or is likely to venture into someone else camping area, than will have to be on a leash. If travelling in a 2wd please contact us before booking, some of the campgrounds have to be reached by crossing the creeks, Girard camp is one of them where the office and the showers are, at times this crossing is under water and is only accessible by 4wd. Other campgrounds are available near the entry gate that don't require a creek crossing for access and toilets are available on some of them. One side of the property is bound by Emu Creek and the other by Girard Creek, both creeks have enough water with some permanent deep water holes for all year activities. Sightseeing inside the property we have Girard Falls, a 50m high waterfall, nature at it's best. In the vicinity you have the Clarence river at Paddy's Flat Road and Hootons Road within minutes drive from the property. The only entry into the property is by Emu Creek Rd a gravel road. Emu Creek Retreat is located in the far north-east of New South Wales. We are approximately 200 km from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Gold Coast, 150km from Byron Bay. Tabulam is the nearest town 12km away. Fuel and groceries are available at Tabulam along with a post office, pub and police station. Casino is 68km away and Tenterfield 78km. Once a working cattle property, in 1993 was converted into a camping and 4WD park. Since 2017 has been a family own and operated property, pet friendly, we are using the existing large camping grounds to convert it into a camping paradise. Two properties combined with close to 2800 acres, fronting Paddy’s Flat Rd for 2km and extends 7km to the back fence bordering a 22000 acre cattle property. The front section is undulating with plantation forest (spotted gum) and bushland, towards the back it has mountains, steep terrain and millions of trees with spectacular views and great hiking tracks.

Our favourite part of living at Soulhaven is the daily orchestra of birds! Although you will feel like you’re completely secluded from busy town-life, we are only 15 minutes from the nearest shops. Enjoy a toasty campfire in the evenings where you can sit back and gaze at the stars. There are trail bikes tracks nearby and the iconic Border Ranges is just past Kyogle. This campsite is 2WD friendly and caravans are welcome. You may need to level your caravan for a good night's rest. Your pet, on a lead, is welcome to camp with you. We love animals, but one of the reasons we left suburbia was to get away from barking dogs. If your dog barks at night, or is not we’ll socialised, you’re best to leave pooch at home! Our place is family friendly and we ask that you keep music and noise to a minimum after 10pm.

Rainforest Gateway is located approximately 8klms along Grady's Creek Road, just 20 klms north of Kyogle and 15 klms from the Queensland border on the popular scenic tourist route, Lions Road. Kyogle is a bustling town with an IGA supermarket, MTB riding tracks, lovely gift shops, cinema, bowling alley, and a selection of dining outlets. For those wanting to immerse themselves in nature, the Border Ranges National Park is a short drive away. Please note Lions Road is temporarily closed for road repairs and expected to be reopened late January 2026. We can still be reached on Gradys Creek Road off Summerland Way, ignore Google maps if it directs you to Lynches Creek Rd. Check in is strictly between 2 - 5pm. This much-loved family-owned farm has a rich history, transitioning from a dairy farm to a beef property. Today, it flourishes with a bio-diverse planting of native trees and a joinery workshop crafting designer furniture. Cabin at Valley's End is our flagship accommodation at Figtree Farm. Having 3-bedrooms and 3 bathrooms it is an ideal place for a relaxing weekend. The cabin has flat ground on 2 sides which allows for additional campers (up to 20 people). In wet weather, 2WD and AWD may need to park a short distance downhill from the cabin. In addition we offer 3 creek-side camp sites which have plenty of room for large groups; they are all situated on well drained, grassy open spaces beside the creek. In wet conditions you will need a 4WD to access these sites. Also in wet conditions they are not suitable for large caravans (in excess of 21 feet) unless you have some serious towing power (Landrover or RAM, for example). Figtree Farm has an abundance of bird and animal life. Here, tranquillity reigns, save for the occasional call of our friendly neighbourhood donkeys and the odd rooster. If you wish to wander further afield, Wiangaree is 15 minutes away and Kyogle is a 30 minute drive south. For those who enjoy a game of tennis there is an all weather tennis court (with lights) nearby at Bundgeam Hall. Figtree Farm at Findon Creek promises opportunities for contemplation, relaxation and fun and it is our wish that you will have many happy memories of your visit here.

Most times there are animals for children to pet, baby rabbits, calves, lambs etc. In September-October we have fireflies at the creek. We can take 2WD. We are a 40 minute drive from Mebbin National Park, 25 minutes to the town of Nimbin and just over an hour from Byron Bay and plenty of beaches. Enjoy relaxing relaxing around the campfire in our spacious campsites or enjoy a splash or paddle in the small creek. There is drinking water, a hot shower and a compost toilet available for campers. The swimming dam is not chlorinated and acts as habitat for numerous frog species. Please don't expect clear blue water as some algae is a natural part of the ecosystem. A wood fired sauna can be used with assistance from the owner and a fee to cover time and wood to get it going. There are a range of campsites available from the edge of the forest down to creek front sites (4WD only) and in the Pecan orchard. Please check by prior email during the wet season for specific access requirements. Campfires are permitted in the fire pit provided, pending there are no fire restrictions. We can supply seasoned firewood at competitive rates. Friendly pets are welcome, we also have dogs on the property.

Weekend Trip to The Jewel of Caniaba

We had such a great stay! The property is beautiful, peaceful, and the perfect place to switch off for the weekend. We loved being able to have a campfire, and it was a lovely surprise that there was plenty of free firewood available. We went for a walk around the property, saw cows and even some kangaroos, which made the experience even more special. The host was incredibly kind, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing camping getaway. We’d definitely love to come back!

4 nights at Barachi by the Creek

A great rustic cabin, filled with character, bordered by a running creek in a private setting. Peter greeted me at his property and drove me down to the cabin, sharing some of the local history of the property and region And a bag of home grown mandarins. I was provided with a tour of the facilities and left to my own devices - it’s well contained, private and quiet. The fire lit bath worked a treat though in winter, I’d recommend enjoying prior to the sun disappearing. There are candles and some solar powered lights to provide some atmospheric lighting. It can get cool in the evening, so take advantage of the hot water bottles provided. There is a bit of cell reception around the cabin if needed to send text messages but it’s otherwise a great place to switch off, read and chill out.

Incredible views of the river, access to kayaks and canoes and wildlife in abundance. We saw Greater Gliders, Bilbies, Wild Boar (babies! Super cute), Pademelons, Kangaroos, Platypus and Turtles. The bell tents were beautiful with comfy beds. Spectacular stay.

4 nights at Rocky River Play Station

I spent 8 nights staying at Jess’s cabin and I was reluctant to leave. It’s got everything you need and is exceptionally comfortable - good mattress, kitchen, fireplace and a balcony to chill out on. There are a few walks you can do around the property including exploring Rocky River. The spot is private and has kangaroos and cows passing by…though Jess isn’t too far away if required. I’d highly recommend staying.

What an amazing hidden gem! The drive in was quite long and rocky, and we even thought we might be on the wrong road. But when we arrived, the beautiful mountain views, river, trees, and birdsong made it all worthwhile. The cabin was cozy and comfortable, especially with the wood fireplace keeping us warm at night. We loved being surrounded by nature and enjoying the peaceful forest setting. The free kayaks were a great bonus, allowing us to explore the water and take in the stunning scenery. In the evening, we sat around the campfire and enjoyed the incredible starry sky. It was a relaxing and memorable stay, and we would definitely come back again. Highly recommended for anyone looking to escape the city and enjoy nature. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Weekend Trip to Clarence River Wilderness Lodge

What a beautiful place to stay! The cabin was absolutely stunning, and although it was quite cold during our visit, there was a fireplace inside the cabin and another fire pit outside that kept us warm and cosy the whole time. The scenery was breathtaking, and at night the stars were spectacular. We could even see the Milky Way stretching across the sky, which was an unforgettable experience. The canoes were a fantastic addition and provided hours of fun for both me and the kids. Being able to get out on the water and take in the peaceful surroundings made the stay even more special. A big thank you to Sharon and Steve for such a wonderful stay and for sharing this little piece of paradise with us. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment and will definitely be back. P.S. If you happen to look in one of the corners of the roof, you'll find a little red speaker we accidentally left behind 🤭. It's up for grabs if you or another guest would like it! I loved the place so much I forgot all about it.

This trip was forecast for lots of rain and thunderstorms and it was my birthday so didn't particularly feel like being soggy so we upgraded and stayed in the tiny house which was such a treat! Weekend Trip to Undercliff Farm

We had such a wonderful stay in your cottage , it was truly a special experience for our family. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared with all the essentials we needed, including milk, butter, coffee, sugar and other little touches that made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. We especially loved meeting all the friendly animals around the farm, and the farm cats were absolutely adorable. They brought so much joy to our stay. One of our favourite memories was sitting around the campfire at night under the beautiful sky full of stars. It felt peaceful, relaxing, and like a true country escape. It was such a lovely opportunity to slow down and enjoy nature. Thank you so much for creating such a warm and welcoming place. You can really feel the care and effort you’ve put into the property. We’re very grateful for this experience and made some beautiful family memories here. We would absolutely love to come back again in the future.

A 10/10 stay! We loved staying at Aliki’s cabin, it was quiet and peaceful with a comfortable bed, good shower, fantastic spa and well looked after and clean throughout. Aliki was the perfect host, helpful and let you relax and enjoy your stay. Heaps of restaurants in Lismore and a lovely area all together. Definitely recommend the walk from the garden to the creek, it takes approximately 20 mins to get down. We will 100% stay again! Thanks Aliki!

We had a wonderful stay and a really great experience overall. The environment, nature, and peaceful atmosphere were absolutely amazing. Outdoor cooking was such a lovely experience, and everything was well set up. Dan was very approachable, communicative, and helpful throughout our stay. A small suggestion would be to clean gas barbecue and add a few extra lights around the area. Other than that, everything was awesome. We were very happy 😃 and would highly recommend this place just book it!

We love CRWL and have camped and paddled a few times before. This time we booked the two cabins together for a family Mother’s Day gathering and really loved the rustic cabins in the private space with wonderful river views where we have seen quolls and rock wallabies before. Sharon and Stephen went above and beyond to ensure our comfort with masses of firewood for the huge shared outdoor fireplace with seating, and for the two small indoor fireplaces, as well as providing a tree to plant for our Mum and access to starlink. We will be back!

Weekend Trip to Clarence River Wilderness Lodge

We had a most peaceful and connecting stay in the cabins at Clarence River Wilderness Lodge. We were nine, with three doing their own camping, so we booked the two cabins for the other 6 of us, which worked perfectly. The hours spent around the well set-out campfire! Cooking, chatting, some arts and crafts, walks up and down the river, swims (yes! in May - chilly and very refreshing but not too cold), canoeing up and down the creek. We saw t least ten different bird species, and two goannas leisurely strolled past our camp. Sharon came by for a friendly drop by one evening and we heard a good bit of the history of the area from her. Altogether and relaxing and refreshing trip.

5 nights at Eagle Ridge Bush Retreat

Stayed in the Tiny Home for 5 nights and Kristy and Dan have thought about absolutely everything for your time away! From the moment you drive into this place until the time you drive away, you are met with tranquility, quiet and calm. There are 10ish camping sites on the property but each is spread out quite nicely from the other campers meaning you get your own little piece of paradise for the time you are there! The tiny cottage is set up so well! Whilst there is no mains power, there is ample solar power for lights and hot water in the bathroom. The deck is absolutely amazing (where I spent most of my time) and the outdoor heated bath along the river was the most perfect way to spend the evening relaxing. For activities - cruising the rapids with a tube or stand up paddleboard (without the fin) is a MUST! Exploring the rocks and river is fun as well with an array of wildlife around. Access to the camp is through a steep dirt road so a 4WD or high clearance AWD is required. I took a Subaru Outback which nicely traveled in and out without changing any settings.
