As we are located in the secluded and sleepy cane fields of South Ballina there is limited access to shops, cafes, restaurants, etc.
The Burns Point Ferry is the best way to get to us, it runs from 5:30am until 12.30am daily, consistently running back and forth. An approx. 8min journey each way and costs $.00 each way, payable by credit card only. So you can easily go into Ballina town for all shops, cafes, restaurants, etc.
If the ferry isn't for you, you can drive to Ballina via Wardell on River Drive.
The bungalow is located approx. 25m from the main residence, and the campsite is located approx. 300m from the main residence tucked away in the paddocks and forest. We are onsite and available if needed.
Sugar Beach Ranch is an operating farm with staff onsite caring for animals and maintaining the grounds. All care is taken to ensure minimal disruption to guests.

Our favourite part of living at Soulhaven is the daily orchestra of birds! Although you will feel like you’re completely secluded from busy town-life, we are only 15 minutes from the nearest shops.
Enjoy a toasty campfire in the evenings where you can sit back and gaze at the stars. There are trail bikes tracks nearby and the iconic Border Ranges is just past Kyogle.
This campsite is 2WD friendly and caravans are welcome. You may need to level your caravan for a good night's rest.
Your pet, on a lead, is welcome to camp with you. We love animals, but one of the reasons we left suburbia was to get away from barking dogs. If your dog barks at night, or is not we’ll socialised, you’re best to leave pooch at home!

There are two hammocks and outdoor lounges to spend some time enjoying the view and time together.
For those looking for a bit of adventure there is plenty to do in the surrounding area. Local attractions include:
Whiann Whiann Falls- swimming hole- (5 minutes)
Nightcap National Park, including spectacular Minyon Falls (30 minutes)
Rocky Creek Dam, which has walks and a platypus trail (10 minutes)

PLEASE NOTE: This is a "glamping" experience so insects and nature is a part of the experience. The tents are set on a concrete slab which is regularly sprayed however insects will still be around as the tents are set in the middle of the paddock so please be mindful of this.
This property uses Solar Power (not connected to the grid) so please be aware of energy usage. All lights and general appliances are low energy and remain suitable for use over an extended sunless/cloudy period. If you drain the solar you will lose power and hot water.
Both domes have aircon. The air-con cannot be left on. They were installed so if you have been out exploring all day and return to find a very hot or cold dome it gives you the ability to modify the temperature quickly. Once the dome has been cooled down or heated up (in our experience this takes approximately 10-15 mins) you can switch it off and use the fans provided if the evening is warm. If you leave the aircon continually running or forget to turn it off and go out you will lose power and the power will not return until the solar has had a chance to recharge the next day.
There are 2 portable fans inside the domes and a fan for outdoor use for hot days. To reduce the impact on hot days the domes have rooftop curtains that should remain closed along with the front window curtains to keep the tents cooler.
Guests have access to the entire 120 acre property. There is a gate for access to the paddocks beyond the dome fencing. The gate needs to be closed immediately after entering and exiting to prevent cows entering the dome area and causing damage or exiting onto the main road.
You can stroll along the road until you reach the bushland on the far end of the property. We do not recommend walking through long grass on the property without protective footwear as snakes are known to live in the hinterlands region.
Please be aware the driveway to the domes is not sealed. It is a gravel driveway.
In the rain it may be slippery. Parking at the top of the property is recommended for cars that are not suitable for gravel inclines.

This unique abode, has a relaxed feel on a 5 acre property, close to the Byron town (only 13kms) but far enough away to enjoy the solitude the hinterlands offers with access to wide open fresh air.
It consists of a 1964 original vintage caravan, with an open-plan living/dining area, a gorgeous industrial-style bathroom, with a glass ceiling for star gazing & an outdoor fire-pit.
The open air living allows guests to feel 100% connected to the natural environment, while at the same time having access to reliable, fast internet along with the comforts of a hot shower, flush loo etc. It is an ideal way to capture the restored feeling from remote camping, without the hassle of taking all your camping gear.
Sleeping arrangements: We have a custom-made inner spring mattress that is an unusual size due to the vintage age of the vintage caravan & therefore the size, is in between a King-single & double size width & a queen-size length (which may or may not be big enough for 2 people depending on your sleeping expectations). The actual measurements are: 1.13M wide & 2M long. There is also a separate king single-size bed, on the other side of the caravan, suitable for another adult, a child or two small children.
All linen and bath towels etc are provided. The caravan is cosy, with a TV, stereo, fridge, sink, wardrobe & storage space.
The property is not far from the beautiful bathhouses of Mullumbimby too ie Kiva Spa & Banya bathhouse
We are a pet-friendly property. If you wish to bring your friendly pet, they are welcome, but we charge a fee of $25 . Please select that you have a pet when making your booking. We also request that you kindly ensure that your pet does not go inside the caravan or on any of the furniture including the bed, lounge etc. If there is dog hair in the van or on the couch we may need to charge an extra cleaning fee.

Lovely spot with a gorgeous view! Elizabeth was wonderful and great with communication and showing us around on arrival.
Only down side was the weather was quite bad for our stay and the pod isn’t really set up for wet weather eg the outdoor kitchen has no covering so you’re cooking and cleaning in the rain. Elizabeth did give us two umbrellas (though one had an ants nest in the handle!) but the rain did take away from the experience for us overall as we also didn’t use the bath.
Everything else was spectacular - views, cleanliness, location, bed, amenities, communication. Would stay again in dry weather!

The service was so lovely and the tent was amazing, and my daughter had the best time canoeing. The walk, view and swim at the river beach is beautiful. We enjoyed our stay 💯 and really appreciate what is in planning for future visitors, and we would love to come back

Highly recommend. A beautiful hilly property. Definitely require 4wd. Horses and cattle. Basic but clean cabin and Donga. Power and water tank. 2 bathrooms. Lots of flat space, river view, kayaks nearby. Everything you need.

Bit of a rough road coming in if you’re coming from the south (4WD recommended), but other than that a beautiful area, friendly people, whom clearly have put a lot of effort and love into the place. Many ammenities available, overall a wonderful stay and would visit again!

Weekend Trip to Clarence Riverview Lodge Glamping
Beth's glamping set up was situated on one of the most scenic landscapes in Grafton. The accommodation was very well provisioned with bbq, sink, tables, beautiful bathtub, and well kept bathroom. We had a lovely bath and a great night sleep. The pod is extremely private and there's access to the river where Beth has kindly provided kayaks.

Our glamping adventure at this site was so relaxing and fun - the tent was wonderfully decorated and cozy and was rather spacious for three people :) These guys were super kind and accommodating and looked after us well during our time here, we appreciated it heaps!

We loved our 3 nights for our first glamping experience. It was tough to fit everything for a family of 5 (plus a dog) into our car when you have to take linen but we managed! Note they do have 3-4 camp chairs to use which would have saved a bit of room for us.
The fridge and freezer are of decent size for an under bench style so wouldn’t need to bother with our camping fridge next time. There is a nearby general store which is also a bottle shop and sells fire wood which was handy. To have access to 2 domes for our family of five was great. The teenagers were able to have their own space. We plan to come back in winter. We stayed during an unusually hot Easter week with 30 degree days. Unfortunately there is no shade from the hot western sun of an afternoon. The shelter over the kitchen only provides shade until lunchtime and then you are in direct sunlight. Too hot to stay and domes get way too hot with little relief from the air con due to the time restriction on using the air con. We tried to venture out of an afternoon, otherwise we walked over to the other paddock and sought some relief under a large tree. That was the only negative. If you stay during the cooler weather it would be magical. Jane, the host was very helpful and responsive when we needed help or had questions. Overall a lovely place to escape the city and connect with nature. Nearby falls and dam worth a visit.

1 night at Rainforest Hideaway
Very peaceful, bar a few cars along the nearby road. Just did a 1 night getaway so didn't get to explore the property. Van was very clean, comfortable and well equipped for cooking. I would recommend at least 2 nights to get more out of your stay. Steve and his wife are very friendly.

We had a fantastic stay at the large glamping site - it was such a peaceful, well-maintained spot with plenty of space to relax and unwind. The fishing and kayak equipment were a real highlight and made it easy to enjoy the surroundings in a fun, laid-back way.
Chris, the host, was amazing - really attentive, friendly, and always available if needed without being intrusive. You can tell he genuinely cares about making the experience special.
A great getaway and we can’t wait to come back - we’ve already recommended to heaps of our friends!!

Weekend Trip to Barachi by the Creek
Peter and Tania’s property is beautiful! The shack was in a prime position near the creek and surrounded by trees. I loved my stay here and would highly recommend it to others looking for a getaway in nature and digital detox.

Couldn’t thank Chris enough for his incredible hospitality. The tent was huge, more than comfortable for 2 adults plus 2 children. The amenities were extremely well set up and clean (compost toilets, hot showers and a new camp kitchen, even with fresh produce from the property). My kids had a ball, and Chris went out of his way to ensure they had activities to do (Easter crafts). Would def recommend this camping site.

We had a fantastic stay. The place has so much character and it instantly felt welcoming. You can tell there’s a lot of attention to detail in how everything is set up. The pillows were especially amazing. It also felt very private, which we really appreciated.

This campsite is absolutely incredible! Chris was super helpful with showing us around. There is so much on offer at this campsite- guided walks, kayak & fishing gear hire! The bathroom facilities are super clean and cool as well as the new outdoor kitchen area. We really loved our glamping tent as well! Super comfortable and had everything you need. I really recommend staying here!!

We stayed in the luxury family Safari tent and loved it! Super comfy bed, our girls loved the bunk beds, and everything just had a great quality feel about it. Limited cooking options (just a microwave and BBQ) but we got by with that.
Was a very short walk to the beach, and the pool/slides/cafe/bar were great.
Also, staff were really friendly - thank you, Colin!
Only thing to note is that although the park is very dog friendy, the beach right out front is not - so if we wanted to take the dog for a run on the beach, we had to drive to Patches Beach which is around 15 minute drive away.
