Recent cyclone has eroded the beach access to a cliff edge however tranquillity & serenity under gorgeous stars a huge tick..

Thank you so much Michael. We love the spot, second time that we camp on the camping area.
Instructions were spot on, camp area very clean. Most beautiful nights watching the stars. So quite in the morning, only hearing bird songs. We have 3 daughters between 20 and 26 and they absolutely love the spot breaking away from city life. We will be back.

Secluded beauty

What a lovely spot, We will definitely be back.
The track to get in wasn't an issue at all. We were towing a 16ft off grid caravan and got to the site fine.
The site had spots of soft sand but manageable to go around the site to get a good spot.
Path to the beach is over grown but can make your way down and back.
We love that we got to lock the gate when we left for a few hours. It was awesome to have some extra security when exploring Ballina and other suburbs nearby.

Beautiful spot! Definitely not as difficult to get to as other reviewers have posted! Yes the walk to the beach is a bit of a trek, it is a bit of a rough part of the ocean too so take care. We were a bit u lucky with jelly fish not sure if that was just our luck or if they are always there. Other then that it's a lovely spot

Lovely spot but don't get bogged!
18 ft pop-up camper
First of all I will say it is an incredible spot and the beach itself is absolutely fabulous. It's a 5 minute walk from the campsite and you do have to bush bash through some scrub to get there but so worth it.
Unfortunately we had a couple of issues that turned our absolute beachfront experience into a bit of a nightmare.
The first challenge was all 3 of our GPS's didn't work out there (2 with Telstra), and Dugungully rd isn't marked. We arrived at dusk (around 7PM) and called for support and Kate was as helpful as she could be but admitted she has never been to the site and couldn't really give us much help or directions and couldn't get through to the owner.
A helpful farmer down one of the roads told us we were on the right road and told us the way to go, and said many people who attend this campground get lost because of these reasons.
Then when we arrived at the site, it wasn't clearly marked where to go and even though we have 4 wheel drive, we accidentally drove into a big soft sand area and got immediately bogged. I wished we had some warning or direction to avoid this.
We tried many ways to get out and even went into town the next day and got recovery tracks. They didn't work.
The NRMA wouldn't come out for off road support so we had to go through our insurance and eventually had a 4 wheel drive tow truck get us out.
There needs to be better signage, especially around the soft sand with a warning notice.
We'd hate for this to happen to others.

Lovely View but for me that was about it. Very overgrown access to both the site and the beach.
Unfortunately I found it overpriced for what it was but communication was good and the instructions on how to access etc very good.
Again, not our cup of tea but can see the appeal for other people.

Amazing.

What an amazing beautiful spot. We loved our 2 nights listening to surf daily and having place to ourselves. Million dollar views. An adventure to beach along track but certainly doable. Even our 4 year old got through it. Hopefully, this will be a place we return to in the years ahead. Just brilliant.

We loved our stay - so peaceful and quiet. Lovely site close to the beach. Access is easily found and we took our caravan up the slight hill without any problems. Ground was sandy but compact after an overnight shower. Beach access was possible but very overgrown and difficult at places. Great place to soak up the ocean sound and enjoy the peacefulness.

Beautiful spot and very quiet. Nice and relaxing listening to the waves break in the distance.
Beach access is very hard to get to and walk through. Wouldn’t take young kids through there, it was difficult.

Perfect spot for self contained campers with a great view of the ocean. Excellent spot for birdwatching and anyone camping around September/October will be in a prime location to watch the humpbacks heading down to feeding grounds in the southern ocean with their new-born calves.

Great seclusion, if a sandy site.

After arriving we weren't sure how we would go with our large on-road van on the sandy site. Low-range and lower tyre pressure and we had no issues at all. Not sure a 2wd tow vehicle would manage. Space for a camper to negotiate on crushed rock though.
We would have loved to have stayed longer than the two nights. Real seclusion, amazing birdlife in the mornings and beautiful stars overnight.
The beach itself was stunning. Took about 5-10 minutes of bush bashing to get there l, but well worth every little scratch on the legs! The beach was a little busier than others have found it, but still phenomenal. Kids and I were careful, and went for a swim in the shallows but soon were back on shore. We had a strong littoral current that may be problematic for anyone not comfortable in the water. This seemed less pronounced a few hundred metres towards the Patches Beach carpark.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay and are already planning our next trip to this beautiful part of the world.

Beautiful hilltop ocean views

Amazing site on top of the Sandhills overlooking the ocean. Great 2wd gravel access road and easy instructions from Michael. You will need a 4wd up top if you go off the gravelled flat area. But a good gravelled area for a 2wd campervan. We had the beach to ourselves and a few horse riders. Perfect location

A great private spot with your own beach access. If you are self sufficient it’s perfect. Communication with the hosts was great, the whole experience was perfectly uneventful. Just lots of time hanging out at the beach with the family.

Absolutely amazing spot and the hosts were incredibly accomodating, this was a very special camp for us!
The walk to the beach is a bit overgrown which adds to the fun, but keep an eye out for snakes of course - I saw an EB and a red belly. Both slithered away unbothered so don't let this affect your stay but keep an eye on dogs and kids!

Ocean views and privacy

Great spot with plenty of room for a large caravan (suggest offroad with 4wd as spot is a little sandy). Nice ocean views and you can hear the waves crashing onto the beach day and night. It is a little bit of a walk to the beach but well worth it.
It is a great spot and very private where you can sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet.
You will need to plan to be off grid and despite our best efforts we did not find many public options for water close by (nearest appears to be Woodburn although we didn't go there).
It is worth the effort as this is going to be a spot you will definitely want to come back to, we certainly will!

Great communication and well put-together guide.
My style of camping being fully self-sufficient.
Great ocean views.
Surrounded by bush which obviously means you may see a snake. A beautiful python made a visit so if you have young children it may be best to keep an eye out.
Great spot and will be our quick getaway spot from now on.
