We have 4 acres of flat land with lots of flower beds, and even a dog agility course. Our property has a great view of a BNSF rail line, about 1 mile away as the crow flies, so trains are heard. You can bring your own tent or we can set one up for you. We also have a large tent which we can set up for you with a large inflatable queen size bed. You'll need to bring your own sheets and pillows. If you want to just escape home quickly, book our Cabin Shalom where everything is ready for you including sheets, fridge, microwave, coffee pot, tv with DVD, wifi, and a chimnea fireplace We have firepits available and I can provide smore makings if interested at an additional charge. We are halfway between Rochelle (with it's railroad museum, Kennay's Distillery, Artist's Garden, other quaint shops, and Chicago Land Skydiving Center) and Dixon-the hometown of Ronald Reagan and the Petunia Festival. We are close to Nachusa Grasslands with their buffalo and Franklin Creek Park with it's natural spring and hiking trails and Oregon with their bike paths and Autumn on the Prairie in Oregon Illinois.

Easy weekend
It was a hassle free check-in, I was running late and asked if I could pull in myself and they gave me clear instructions to find my spot. Im kind of an introvert so didn’t talk much with the host but she was super friendly and let me do my thing. The site was clean and quiet. My spot was in the far corner, there was a fire pit on lush grass that was gentle on my tent and toes. It’s not a forestry environment it’s mostly open. I faced my tent towards the field and had enough privacy to change with my door open. If you want to enjoy more trees, 10- 15 mins up the road there are multiple sites to hike/picnic/grill, Mill Springs day use area is 15min drive and there are some other good spots on the way. I came on Memorial Day weekend thinking I might see a crowd but it wasn’t crowded.

Had a great experience tenting on Jennifer and Steve’s land. My good friend and I were on the road with few options and they were gracious enough to allow us to book last minute. Jennifer was extremely kind and accommodating, I absolutely would recommend their Peaceful Place to anyone in need of a quiet, camper-friendly location at which to relax. Thank you so much!

Peaceful
I really enjoyed my time on Steve and Jennifers land! Such kind and super thoughtful hosts! I was able to really relax the week I stayed as a solo female van traveler and enjoy peace and quiet and beautiful Illinois countryside and farmland. They have a beautiful yard with plenty of spaces to choose from. Accessibility to trash, water and a potty. They rolled down a fire pit and some wood to where I chose to park my van and even offered an easy way to light it. They also went out of their way to get me some farm fresh eggs from a friend and even came to my van to let me know that storms were coming and helped me move to a safer spot on their property. Jennifer also presented me with some beautiful gifts of food and I was just touched beyond belief! It was exactly what I needed for a week of down time. I felt I had plenty of privacy and plenty of space to throw my blanket down and enjoy the scenery. There is a train that runs really close by and being a train lover I found that I really enjoyed it. Its really the only occasional sound you hear other than the birds and occasional truck pass. No sirens. No city sounds. City lights are way off in the distance. I was able to get a great view of the night sky! So peaceful! There is a stack of pamphlets in the outhouse of local things to do and see but I was so content I only ventured off their property once to the nature preserve right up the road. Well worth the short drive. I look forward to my next visit through! Thank you
