Missing Hotel
6 sites · Lodging100 acres · Marble Falls, TXDisappearing in the woods doesn’t have to be a bad thing. We just prefer to call it forest bathing... Imagine a place that makes you feel like your experience is the only thing that matters. A place that thinks of everything, so you have the space in your mind to explore what matters most to you. A place that inspires and provides the means to help you turn those ideas into something tangible. A place that imbues everything with purpose, including you. Disconnect from distraction. Reconnect with yourself. Choose your level of immersion with our unique shelters. Villa? Geodesic dome? Whatever your preference, each shelter provides a dreamy cocoon to rest, reflect and recharge. They're outfitted with the luxuries you're used to and some you're not. For us, off grid doesn't mean out of touch, at least not entirely. Remember phone booths? Walkies? You'll be just fine. * We reserve the right to prohibit use of the fire pits and burning based on local weather conditions. There may be times that winds and/or humidity can create a fire concern and we will not allow burning during those times. ** Please note: Cell reception and wifi can be spotty. We're happy to point out the best "phone booth" spots for the former, and we are constantly working to improve the latter. We appreciate your patience as we perfect our little piece of the wild. That said, in the meantime, we do urge you to embrace the option to disconnect when possible. We've found it can be quite liberating to go missing for a little while :)

Boulderdash Cabin & RV Park
11 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents5 acres · Bandera, TXHello, I’m Carol-anne, my husband Lyn and I spent several years searching for a Hill Country hideout. After not being able to find anything that would meet our needs we had all but given up on the idea. So we decided we should just buy ourselves an RV and go wherever the wind blew us. In 2016 we did just that! We bought ourselves “The Land Yacht” as I have come to call our Heartland Cyclone. We spent 2016 and 2017 touring the country. In February 2017 we decided to attend the “Cowboy Mardi Gras” in Bandera, TX and found a great spot to camp on Lake Medina. My dad joined us on that trip and I think we all kind of fell in love with the place! Lyn and I (always dreaming) decided to look and see what sort of real estate there was around the lake. We have always argued about lake vs. river. Lyn likes the lake and I like the river. Anyway, after some searching online we decided to go up in person one day and just “look”. Well.......long story short. The first place we looked at was Boulderdash, it met all our needs. Boulderdash came complete with 3 acres on the river at the mouth of Lake Medina. It had a cabin already on it that was built in 2009 and 5 RV hookups. PERFECT! We listed the cabin as a vacation rental and started to refurbish the RV hookups and sites, 5 years later we are retired here and continuing to make improvements. We named it Boulderdash because of the huge boulders out front and because Boulderdash is defined as “Something that does not have or make sense”. Which was perfectly suited to this endeavor! The idea was just to pay the property taxes with the cabin rental until we could retire and build our home. The lot next to ours became available so we purchased it. Boulderdash was growing faster than we ever could have imagined! What started out as a temporary rental quickly became a full blown campground! Boulderdash continues to exceeded our expectations and has become a place full of fun memories, not only for ourselves but for whomever visits.

San Marcos sits on I-35 in the Texas Hill County, about 40 minutes southeast of state capital Austin. San Antonio is also pretty convenient to San Marcos. Head about an hour southeast on I-35 to reach it. The clean, warm San Marcos River provides plenty of options for water recreation right in the city. Head to Rio Vista Park for particularly fun tubing or kayaking. Rio Vista Falls Dam is the area's centerpiece. Shoot the rapids and get extreme with a trip over the falls! You've got a couple of options if you're coming to the area via RV. Canyon Trail RV Resort provides 76 full hookup spaces along with free Wi-Fi (service can be spotty, though). Head to Pecan Park Riverside RV Park for 116 more big-rig friendly sites. Pecan Park also features an extremely relaxing Jacuzzi-tub area. Note that neither park allows for tent camping, though. Keep in mind that Texas summers get very hot. You'll be dealing with temperatures in the mid-90s from June to September. Aim for spring if that doesn't sound like a good time to you! From March to May, highs average a more comfortable 80 degrees or so.
