Peaceful Prairie Campsites consists of 200+ acres of prairie pasture bordering the south side of Scotts Bluff National Monument. Under the care of third generation steward, Lisa Betz-Marquez, the beautiful bluffs feature a stunning backdrop to a those seeking a private and peaceful experience, birding, wildlife-spotting, or an adventure-seeking hike.
Rustic Tent sites (allowing cars, vans, rooftop tents, truck campers, and motorcycles, but not RVs or pull-behind trailers) are located directly on the prairie.
The prairie is a fragile environment. To preserve its beauty and health, trailers and RVs must book the RV sites. We appreciate your cooperation.
RV sites 50 amp electricity and a rustic experience on crushed concrete near our corral. You'll have foot access just steps from the prairie.
All sites share access to delicious potable water, a clean porta potty, and a funky outdoor camp shower (with unheated water), as well as private foot access to hiking at various levels of challenge to the south side of our nation's Scotts Bluff National Monument.
A small group of yearling cattle are at home on the prairie in summer months, and may share you the prairie tent area with campers in the months of May and June.
Prairie guests have relished the feeling of having the place to themselves to enjoy the majesty of the landscape, the magic of our starry night skies and the soulful communion with the land.
Lisa is the fourth generation of her family to live on Valley View Farm, located directly south of the prairie. Her family has been steward of these lands since 1925. Lisa is a member of a pioneer family. Ancestor, Martin Gering, came to the valley in 1887. As an early investor in the fledgling town, the town of Gering was named for him. We have a 5 acre suburban campsite that is quiet, yet close to amenities. Located in south Lincoln between Highway 2 and the city limit, near shopping, restaurants, and breweries. Our property has a small seasonal creek with a walking path next to it and through a forested area and meadow. Cottonwood Creek Camp has one RV site and one Tent site. This can be a peaceful place to stay for a quick stop, an extended stay or even during Husker game-day weekends. We are 6 minutes from Southpoint mall which offers a shuttle to Memorial Stadium. Super Target, Aldi's and many other grocery stores are only 5 minutes away. Disc golf and mini golf courses are 2 miles away. There is also access to the Lincoln bike trails via our residential streets. Laundry is available on site for an extra fee.

My ONE and ONLY Hipcamp site is locate right at the entrance of this small property. All campers must be 35 feet or less in length and given the small size of the campground it's easiest if you arrive before dark.
The entrance is on a curve so make sure you enter from the left hand side of the road and don't be afraid to roll thru a little grass to make sure you have plenty of room. Make a hard hairpin turn to the right and your campsite is straight ahead and like everything here, a pull-thru site. (Please see HIPCAMP main photo)
This is a long-term campground but I keep this one spot up front for our traveling friends to enjoy as you move across the country as options can be limited. Enjoy your stay and if you're ever unsure about anything just give me a ring.
Please make sure to arrive before dark. Small campground and quiet community with minimal lighting can make for a challenging and sometimes disorienting arrival if not careful.

Nice rolling hills with Oak Savannas in the low areas. Lots of great native wildlife and plants that bloom from early spring through late summer. In the Fall the leaves are amazing.
There is a rough outhouse at the primitive campsite. No electricity but there is water and trash bins located at the farmstead. We do want our guests to be comfortable but this is definitely a rough camping site.
You may also want to grab a beef package from us for your stay or to take along with you. Many items available for sale right at the farm.

Nice rolling hills with Oak Savannas in the low areas. Lots of great native wildlife and plants that bloom from early spring through late summer. In the Fall the leaves are amazing.
There is a rough outhouse at the primitive campsite. No electricity but there is water and trash bins located at the farmstead. We do want our guests to be comfortable but this is definitely a rough camping site.
You may also want to grab a beef package from us for your stay or to take along with you. Many items available for sale right at the farm.

Shepherd’s Rest is a non profit goat and sheep rescue located on 13 acres of land adjacent to the scenic Indian Creek. In addition to the rescue goats and sheep on property, we have abundant wildlife including deer, turkey, quail and red Fox. The camping area is private and cannot be seen from the house or road. Easy Access & Clear Communication
The hosts provided detailed instructions and amenities information before my arrival, which made everything seamless. The site was easy to locate - no wandering around in the dark trying to figure out where to park - and I was able to pull in smoothly for the night.
Comfortable Amenities
The indoor community space was a real highlight. It’s one thing to have a place to park and sleep, but having access to a welcoming indoor area made the experience feel more like a retreat than just a parking spot. It was clean, well-maintained, and had everything needed for a comfortable stay.

My son and I loved everything about staying here. Our campsite was great -- flat, soft grass, with an amazing view out over the refuge (including bison a few hills away) -- and the tour they took us on of the ranch and prairie was one of the highlights of it trip: meeting the bison up close blew my 4-year-old's mind and mine too actually :). Victoria and Carl are lovely people and great land managers. We can't wait to come back.

I messed up my reservation and we were arriving a night early. I called Luke, fortunately his number was on his Hipcamp page, and it wasn’t a problem. We were actually the only ones in the area, being the second week of November. We arrived in the dark and were able to figure out the site layout. My dogs loved being able to run around off leash for the first time in weeks and gave the site four paws up. Luke was driving down the road as we were leaving and rolled down his window to chat with us a bit. Overall an enjoyable experience!

Nebraska kept a piece of my heart after my visit. We stopped at the overlook about 20 miles west of here and I fell in love with the land! Stunning hilly grasslands. This spot is nestled in some beautiful landscape, the river is positively mesmerizing , the land was just clean/ pristine. Bob was welcoming and came out right away to make sure I knew where things were. We were pleasantly surprised by the train activity, it adds another layer of character to this spot. It was chilly as we stayed in mid November, I’d definitely like to plan a longer trip back there to spend some time kayaking the river.

Aaron and Megan have a great spot in a really nice suburban neighborhood. The spot where I parked had plenty of privacy and the common area was amazing. I was able to shower, do laundry, and have a nice warm, quiet place to sit and eat. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone

This was the best site I've ever camped at and can't recommend it enough! You're all to yourself but still nearby other sites. The town, as well as Scottsbluff NM and Chimney Rock, are close by. Lisa was an excellent host, wish we could've talked longer! Make sure you're well prepared for the weather...the wind swept through the canyon just right and snapped our tent. Will definitely look for this place again the next time I come out!

This land is gorgeous and we felt so lucky to camp there. We decided to camp last minute on our cross country road trip back home to Idaho and it happened to be my birthday. The sunset was incredible and the prairie was gorgeous. Be prepared for the wind!

We were just passing through but while I was there I went mountain biking across the street and that was a very different experience and I loved it! I’ve never mountain biked next to a bunch of cows before! Hilarious. Anyways it was kind of sprinkling and I was very thankful they had a hose to use! The WiFi helped too.
