This property is 110 acres all together. We have cattle that do visit the pastures but can be excluded if need be. Nice rolling hills with Oak Savannas in the low areas. Lots of great native wildlife and plants that bloom from early spring through late summer. In the Fall the leaves are amazing. Enjoy peace, quiet and nature at this amazing camp site!

Peaceful Prairie Campsites consists of 200+ acres of prairie pasture bordering the south side of Scotts Bluff National Monument. Under the care of Gering native, Lisa Betz-Marquez, the beautiful bluffs feature a rosy hue that glows on the hills at dawn and dusk. Rustic Tent sites (also allowing pop up truck campers, car and camper vans but not RVs or pull-behind trailers) are located directly on the prairie. RV sites (all offering 50 amp electricity) are in a rustic designated area on crushed concrete near our corral. Delicious underground water and a funky outdoor camp shower is conveniently on site for all campers. All sites offer immediate foot access to hiking at various levels of challenge, including the south side of our nation's Scotts Bluff National Monument. Our 33-year-old sweetheart horse Tigger, and her gal pal Martha, the 27-year-old donkey, are free roaming the area. Both enjoy meeting campers. They can be placed in another area if you would rather they didn't wander by for conversation. A small group of yearling cattle are also at home on the prairie in summer months. Prairie guests have relished the feeling of having the place to themselves to enjoy the majesty of the landscape, the magic of our starry night skies. Lisa is the fourth generation of her family to live on Valley View Farm, located directly south of the prairie. Her family has been steward of these lands since 1925. Lisa is a member of a pioneer family. Ancestor, Martin Gering, came to the valley in 1887. As an early investor in the fledgling town, the town of Gering was named for him. You can turn around easily in the gravel drive. And you'll camp right near our cattle where you're welcome to take picture, scratch their heads, or give them a snack. Tours available too, just ask, we are happy to show you around! This site is well lit and located near our home. We appreciate guests and welcome you to visit with us, we have children and they love to play with other kids. There is plenty of room for pets to roam and do their business. This site is private but as a working farm you may see or hear us doing our daily routine of feeding the cows or moving equipment. We are mindful of your privacy and would never do anything to disturb our guests or ruin their stay unintentionally. You will also have access to the entirety of our 110 acre farm to explore and enjoy nature and animals. We have a firepit and firewood available for you to enjoy a little outdoor relaxation around the fire. If you need anything else not listed we aim to please, just let us know. If you want to purchase beef we stock many items right on the farm. Availability of different cuts of meat and snacks will vary. We are located NW of Kearney in a rural setting. There are neighbors around us but not too close. Being this close to a town, there are many activities and places to go. A few miles to the West of us is Cottonmill Park which has a good sized lake and hiking trails. Within an hours drive there are fishing/boating and recreational lakes. The great Sandhills of Nebraska are just a little over an hour North to get to. Pioneer Village is South about an hour and the Hastings museum is about the same distance only a little East and South.
