Beaver Pond
We can’t speak highly enough about our visit, hosts, and the deluxe bison tour. The Beaver Pond site was well maintained and absolutely lovely. Quiet area, wide open skies, and plenty of birds to watch around the water.
Vicki and Carl gave us an unforgettable experience on the bison tour, complete with prairie history and biodiversity lessons, as well as the opportunity to feed/interact with bison safely from in a vehicle and on top of a flatbed trailer, which doubled as the perfect spot for a sunset-backdropped burger dinner. They were so kind, hospitable, and wonderful to spend time with. Their farm-stand and very nice shower facilities were the perfect morning stops before continuing our roadtrip, so we definitely recommend stopping by to stock up for all your bison meat needs. We left with memories we’re already so fond of and will absolutely be back for more. 1000% recommend the stay and the deluxe tour!

A beautiful site ("The Island") we wish we had more time to enjoy! The host, Vicki, is a pleasure to work with!
We loved boodocking at Vicky and Carl's Golden Prairie Bison. We had a spectacular river view site and loved our fire ring! Vicky gave us veggies from her garden and we enjoyed immensely our bison tour with Carl. Such gracious hospitality! Thank you so much
Quite possibly the most idylic boondocking site we have camped on, our visit began with a warm and friendly greeting from Victoria and Karl. We traded our goods (Chimichurri for their incredible Bison Jerky) and then Karl took us to our River Overlook Site. There is a beautiful view of the river and the Sand Plains. While we didn't make a fire, the available firepit would be perfect for grilling (bring a grill plate) or simply to enjoy the sunset.

I’ve been multiple times and every time it is great. The quietness and also the sounds of nature are very relaxing. Got to explore the Niobrera River and even jump in a little bit. Definitely a great spot to camp!

Beaver Pond
This site was secluded well and had plenty of space for everything we needed. I appreciated the easy access to the site. It had a fire circle with plenty of wood that was available. Victoria was excellent with communicating and ensuring we had what we needed for our stay. I especially appreciated the secluded nature of this sites from any other site.
The location of this site was great for our trip
overall. It is off of the highway - far enough that you don’t notice cars going by- but close enough you aren’t doing excessive off-road driving. This is on pasture land so we did have cows nearby, but we were not disturbed.
Overall, this was a great site. Secluded but accessible and quite beautiful. Cannot wait to go back!

We have stayed with Golden Prairie multiple times. The camping site is very quiet and surrounded with beautiful scenery. You are close to many of the places to visit around Valentine. The host is super helpful for whatever you need. This trip we woke up to 10 tom turkeys gobbling right outside our camper door.
Surrounded by beautiful scenery! The road back to the site is a little rough, which should be an expectation due to its location. Lots of room to get in and out with the camper. Friendly and helpful host.

My son and I loved everything about staying here. Our campsite was great -- flat, soft grass, with an amazing view out over the refuge (including bison a few hills away) -- and the tour they took us on of the ranch and prairie was one of the highlights of it trip: meeting the bison up close blew my 4-year-old's mind and mine too actually :). Victoria and Carl are lovely people and great land managers. We can't wait to come back.

Vicki and her Husband were great hosts. Extenuating circumstances led to a late arrival and they were so gracious. They escorted us to our spot and offered any support we might need. We will elect to stay again in the future on our long trip up to Alaska!
The land was SO interesting, with beautiful plant species varieties and great vistas! Victoria was so sweet and flexible with us, and she gifted us some delicious tomatoes from her garden. The hilltop was a bit windy but those sunrises were definitely worth it !! 10/10 would stay again (:
High elevation views and a peaceful environment. The host communicates very well and makes you feel welcome. There are no shade trees so plan accordingly. Very private and relaxed setting.

We loved camping on Victoria’s land! Labor day weekend may have been cloudy and rainy, but we had a blast. We visited the falls and went fishing in the pond. It was great! Would definitely visit again!

Scenic River Site
It was private and had a very nice view. This area of the country tends to be a bit windy, but we were able to park our camper to block the wind and enjoy the view from inside.

Beaver Pond
We had a great stay at Beaver Pond. Victoria and Carl were great hosts. Very responsive and accommodating. The spot is very remote, yet close to town and to Smith Falls. Beautiful sunrise both mornings that we were there and it cooled down nicely in the evenings. We had no problem pulling our OP15 back into a great spot south of the pond. Would highly recommend if you are traveling to the area.

The views from the site were absolutely beautiful! It was very peaceful. Victoria was amazing! She was super responsive. Would highly recommend staying here.
The campsites were so beautiful and private. This was a serene atmosphere to relax in.
The hosts are a lovely couple, welcoming and very friendly. Highly recommend!

We were extremely grateful for Victoria's flexibility. She was in communication with us as we dealt with some unexpected camper issues. We unfortunately could not see her beautiful site but hope to get there some day!
we absolutely loved this site. the view of the coniferous valley & the prairie beyond was breathtaking, and being atop a hill, the breeze was perfect for cooling off in the summer sun. our host was really kind & even shared some bison jerky with us!

Such a peaceful spot!! We loved camping here and we will definitely be back in the future. We were able to buy some bison steak and jerky which were delicious. Thank you Carl and Vicki!
The place and hosts are lovely! We had an amazing view and the site is very private. We loved our time there and want to come back. Victoria is very responsive and answered all questions and then some. She does note in the Hipcamp listing that you want more ground clearance on your vehicle to access the river view site (suv or truck) and do listen, but it is easy to navigate. The trail there is in good condition and is pretty smooth, just tall grass a a slightly raised in the middle of the tracks that would make it a challenge for a car with low clearance to handle. If you want to camp, enjoy a beautiful sunrise/sunset, and look for animals, this is the ticket. Highly recommend!
