Beautiful property, immaculately kept. The views over the hills are lovely. Our site had a fire pit looking out on the sunset over the hills. We had sheep in the paddock in front of us and horses in the others. Brenda was lovely and so quick to respond to our queries. This was a great site in a beautiful area.

We enjoyed our Easter weekend; the site is very quiet and spacious and the location was good for biking (we rode to Milawa one day and up and back to Beechworth on the rail trail). Wayne was very welcoming as the manager. The caravan park does need some care and attention - however, we were quite happy. The shower and toilet was clean and worked well. On two nights, we went to Tarrawingee to the pub for dinner - excellent venue to visit - good food and drinks.

Samsons Gully is a working cattle farm nestled in a stunning private valley. If you are after peace and tranquillity this is where you will find it. We have a national park on one side of us, and the Cudgewa Creek flowing along our front boundary. The property is perfect for mountain biking, bushwalking, fishing or just plain relaxing. The favourite camp site is on the banks of the Cudgewa Creek. However, there are plenty of places to camp in the bush for those wanting more seclusion. Samsons Gully is a perfect base to explore the Upper Murray. 20 minutes away is Corryong where there is an IGA, service stations, dump point, Dr and hospital, pubs and cafes. 10 minutes away is the Cudgewa pub who do dinner Wednesday through to Sunday evenings. Our property suits fully self contained campers only as there is not toilet or shower. Dogs and horses are welcome but must be well behaved and kept close to your camp site as this is a working cattle property. Due to council regulations we can only open one site up at a time. This ensures that your time here will be exclusive, peaceful and private.

Our Callaghan Creek unpowered campsite is large enough for a big group and has access to water and shade. We also offer a large farmhouse located across the creek from the campsite which we offer on Air BNB so if you plan a big getaway with friends and some are not keen campers then our guest house might be a perfect option. It is a short walk through a ford in the creek from the camp site. Mobile phone coverage is possible if you are with Telstra as there is a Telstra tower not far away. Our Callaghan Creek camp is in a secluded and very pretty spot on our farm. Access is via a dirt track across paddocks and down a short steep slope to the creek. Children are welcome but must be supervised at all times as farms can be dangerous places. There are large animals, snakes and deep water. Well-behaved dogs on a lead are allowed. On our property, we offer one private campsite with a large shelter making it ideal for all-weather group camping. While situated on a farm, it is a fenced-off space that can accommodate numerous vans. The Shelter is equipped with a wood heater, BBQ, stove, sink, tables, and some chairs. In addition, it has a basic shower and a toilet. The site has a designated cooking fire and a campfire. The Shelter has solar power providing lighting and charging facilities. All you need for a rustic home away from home! No mobile service or internet at the campsite ensures that you will switch off and relax. The Shelter is not a cabin but an open-air space for use by campers who are self-sufficient with bedding arrangements - swags, tents, camper trailers or vans. The creek running through the property provides great swimming and fishing (a 400m walk/drive from The Shelter), and the surrounding bush environment provides opportunities for walks, 4WD adventures, and wildlife spotting. More about the property... In 2017 we purchased our small farm in the Nariel Valley. It ticked all the boxes including a creek running through it and backing onto bushland. Now the dream has been realised and we are living in our new home, on our farm, with our small herd of Angus cows. We knew Nariel was special but we continue to discover its myriad of offerings for those who love the great outdoors. We look forward to sharing what we have discovered with our visitors. About Nariel: Wildlife abounds here, with wombats, emus, and kangaroos roaming the property and the list is endless for bird-watching enthusiasts. The remote location on a clear night provides a dark star-filled sky with shooting stars a common occurrence for those who are looking. Nariel Creek is a renowned trout fishing destination. The tracks around the Nariel Valley are a popular destination for motorbike and 4WD enthusiasts. Mount Pinnibar Track and Mount Gibbo are both accessed via Nariel. Several high country huts, all re-built since the January 2020 bushfires, are within an hour drive. Nariel was a thriving community during the gold rush, at that time there were 4 schools and a pub in the valley. Historical relics and gold can still be found. Panning in the creek and tributaries can be a rewarding pastime. The Nariel Creek provides a great spot to cool down in summer and is fast-flowing for a fun float through rapids. In spring the Nariel Valley is where you will find some beautiful wildflower sites. Nariel is home to the Nariel Folk Festival held over a week in late December – early January each year. And that is only in Nariel Valley! Corryong is the nearest township (population ~1350) and is 25 minutes away. The Murray River at Towong is 40 minutes away. Kayaking, push bike riding and many other pursuits are all on your doorstep if you can drag yourself away from Nariel.

We endeavour to provide a peaceful environment, and this is generally a lovely quiet location which more than fulfils our own personal requirements for an undisturbed lifestyle, and will no doubt do so for the vast majority of campers. But we can’t guarantee it will always be completely silent during the day or at night- especially if the lambs or calves or foals are being weaned from their mothers! Ear plugs are available for light sleepers if required. And if you are an extremely noise sensitive person or someone who wants a private camping experience with no noise or neighbouring houses visible, this may not be the right spot for you (if this is you, we would recommend looking for a more remote stay on a large acreage which will provide you with a more private experience) * And while on the topic- if partying late into the night with loud music, a thumping base on your sound system and extremely raucous singing and laughter is your thing, then this is not the right camping spot for you. While we are all for socialising and having fun, if you want to party loudly into the wee hours we would suggest finding a camping spot far away from neighbouring properties where the sound doesn’t carry for miles across the land. Please be mindful of us, our neighbours and others nearby who may be trying to relax or sleep, and keep noise to a respectful level after the sun has set.
