Any guest who would like to book a site to arrive before Christmas Day and depart after Boxing Day please message us via Hip Camp and we can make the site available for your booking.
Guests MUST be fully self-contained and bring their own camping toilet. (No holes in the ground) you will need to have a suitable camp toilet where you are able to take your waste with you on departure.
There is a Dump Point available in Rawson.
Site Toilets can be hired thru Moe Hire (03 5127 7114), they will deliver & pick up from your site.
A fire pit is provided free for the duration of your stay to each camp group.

Licola is a small and attractive village beside the Macalister River, 254 kilometers east of Melbourne. Licola is a great place to use as a base camp for you to 4wd, Hike, Mountain bike, motorbike and canoeing in high country. We offer accommodation in the form of Houses that consist of 3 to 4 bedrooms all with kitchenette, toilets and showers. Each house can sleep from 18 to 20 people in bunk style accommodation. With access to the pool and River to Lauch your canoe it is a perfect place for summer fun. All houses have split system air conditioning and heating. We also have a communal large self cater kitchen and large communal BBQ area. It is the only privately owned town in Victoria and the only one not on mains power. There are three under cover areas for group camping use :- an outdoor kitchen

The Shack is a two night minimum stay and sleeps two. Extra guests are welcome in a tents/vans outside at an extra cost per person. The Shack has one bedroom with linen available as an extra, a small open plan kitchen with fridge, kettle and mini cooker. The living room features a little combustion woodfire heater.

We border the Mitchell river with the farm so there are about 1 km of secluded banks to sit or swim from if you want to just stay put.
For those wanting pure relaxation, meditation, and soul grounding. We can personally show you some tremendous places on the farm to go within. Pure solace is something that many take for granted. Use our pyramid to draw in Quantum/etheric energy, go to the top of our crystal hill and feel the energies. There is so much to be thankful for when you can release in these spaces. Alternatively sit amongst the cows and feel their energy surround you as their curious nature brings them in closer and closer until they relax around you.
Alternatively if you want to chill with a beer on the river bank and try for some bass, or watch the eastern water dragons play in the sun and water, then that’s a great way to unwind, or soak up the sun rays as it drops below the horizon on the crystal hill or rolling flood plains. A personal favourite of a campfire and a few drinks with the stars is a great way to unwind when you have so much space and privacy. The sites are located next to our rental lodge where we sometimes do retreats, or holiday let it as well. The privacy is wonderful if that's what you are looking for.
A walk each morning from one end of the farm where you will stay to the other and back is a leisurely 2kms so maybe that is your morning start, but walk the lanes and check the fences and cows while you're at it please 🙂, ticks a job for us while your relaxing.
Want to learn about the history of the area? Well a session with us will teach you everything didn't know about the Dargo High Plains, the mountain cattlemen of the high country and much more. Take advantage of your time to enjoy the history of the area and the wonderful past times enjoyed.
What is available off farm?
Number one, the pub with great counter meals is across the river, 5kms away. Lindenow Farmers Hotel is iconic in its design and history, the reputed Lindenow Long Paddock Cafe is also a few hundred metres from the pub, and the Post Office and Store have all your essentials. Need a few more things? Bairnsdale is 24kms away from the farm and offers all you need. Lakes Entrance is about 40 mins for a day out on the beach. Paynesville around 30 mins.
If you want to venture up into the mountains then why not go through Dargo just 45 mins and up onto Mt Hotham (Summer only) via the Dargo High Plains. It’s a great track and on occasions I take people up for a guided tour and secret camp spots on my yearly run up there for my own relax time.
East Gippsland in general is a wonderful region to stop and relax during all seasons but especially summer with the water activities available, the camping in the high country, and the markets that abound the area.

Beach fire at night is something special to do.
The beach track is across from the front gate, there is no beach sign from the road because the public will then use the track which is only for Hipcampers and you wont enjoy the deserted beach. Call me if you cant find the track, but most people have not had a problem. This walking access is steep, easier tracks can be driven to down the road.
Or take a dip in the river further down the road, and explore the waterways,
with many birds; black swans in the lakes next to camp, plus kangaroos, wombats, emu and deer.
There is a boat ramp just down the road to explore the river system.
Perfect for water sports, and with fish cleaning tables at the wharf.
Go by boat to the Marlo Hotel from the
wharf straight over the river.
Orbost is 15 minutes drive and has a supermarket, hotel, bottle shop and other conveniences.
We are open to accepting larger group bookings, but please discuss this with us first.
Other things you can do in the area:

A haven for many species of birds and wildlife, sea and wedge tail eagles nesting close by a bird watchers and canoeists paradise, also many species of fish so if you want to wet a line a Victorian fishing licence is needed, the river has a 5 knot speed limit from the campsite to Gypsy Point, if your more into bushwalking or sightseeing there are several national parks within a 30 minute drive or boat trip, or just have a swim, chill, relax and enjoy the peace and serenity. one site has small tinny access to the river and the other is good for a 20 ft boat, camping and fires are only allowed in designated camping areas due to rehabilitation of river frontage large trees and flash flooding, at all sites you cannot camp or have fires in fenced off river frontage, bring your own firewood or it can be supplied for $25 per wheelbarrow when booking in, you will have to provide your own, shower, water, etc, all sites have access to a site toilet, take all waste away when you leave, I can arrange if needed by prior notice, bulk firewood, launching of boat, etc. No firewood collection, motorbike riding, shooting or 4x4ing on site, some pets on leash may be allowed by prior arrangement, there's a 10 % discount factored in at checkout if booking for 5 or more nights, if having trouble booking or any other inquiries please send message cheers John.

Many thanks to Paul & Kirstie for letting us stay on their amazing property. We loved it. Peaceful, perfect manicured grass, power if you want it, the little rotunda we camped next to, walk to the pub for dinner, unreal views over the hills, etc etc !!
When we arrived there was about 5 other caravans setup, but don't worry as there's plenty of spots to find and yes there's a bit of levelling but nothing to worry about unless you're someone that likes concrete slabs !
Visit Buchan and stay here, can't go wrong , such a great place to stay and area to explore.

What a great spot. A little undulating on some sites but nothing a chock or two didn't fix.
We were warmly welcomed by Kirstie. Buchan was a great spot to explore. Caves, views ,lovely people.
The pub meals are a must!!!

We absolutely loved camping at Tarcool! The site was huge, the location by the river was perfect and the kids loved making a fairy town at the "sand pit" down by the river. We enjoyed the privacy, the epic fire pit, all the beautiful birds, fishing and canoeing along the river. There were many wombat holes but we were out of luck in spotting one! Christine was responsive and gave clear instructions for arrival. We will definitely be back.

Great spot for a camp! Nice flat camp sites with close proximity to the river. We had a tent so it was perfect for that type of camping. Easy car access. Bernie greeted us on arrival and showed us to our spot. The areas are well kept and the hazelnut trees are a nice backdrop. All in all we had a wonderful time.

We had a fantastic time. We met Bernie when we arrived. He was really helpful & very nice & directed us to our campsite.
It is a slice of paradise on the Tyers River. Kookaburras abound & so does peace & quiet. We are already planning our next trip. Thanks Lisa & Bernie. See you again 😊

Superb river, lovely grassy camp site, nice big fire pit and friendly host who was very helpful. We forgot to pack the playing cards and Bernie (host) delivered some to our campsite! Awesome property. Excellent service from the host. One of our group caught a decent size trout.
