Heaven on Earth. We must be the luckiest people alive to have somehow become the owners of this property which is only a short drive from the breathtaking Wilsons Promontory, and according to Lonely Planet, the second best beach in the WORLD.
The property has an abundance of temperate rainforest including massive gum trees, 6m tall tree ferns, permanent spring fed creeks, our own lake and more Australian wildlife than most zoos*. Living here, we feel like we're on holiday every day of the year.
Camping sites are situated at the back of the property just a quick 5-minute walk from the car park. We'll transport your gear to your campsite so you can get set up quickly and start exploring the property or just kick back and relax. The three campsites are positioned so that you won't hear a sound from any other campers on the property. You will feel like you've got the whole place to yourself. And even though the campsites are isolated you'll still enjoy the convenience of clean regular flushing toilet facilities. But unlike any toilet you'll have used before, you'll get to enjoy a our unique loo with a view which is situated right amongst the rainforest looking out over the magestic tree ferns!
Whether you intend to simply relax and listen to all the birdlife, grab a few drinks and head up to the viewing deck to watch the sunset, or put on your hiking boots and explore the rainforest, whatever you do, you will truly get back to nature. Licola is a small and attractive village beside the Macalister River, 254 kilometers east of Melbourne. Licola is a great place to use as a base camp for you to 4wd, Hike, Mountain bike, motorbike and canoeing in high country. We offer accommodation in the form of Houses that consist of 3 to 4 bedrooms all with kitchenette, toilets and showers. Each house can sleep from 18 to 20 people in bunk style accommodation. With access to the pool and River to Lauch your canoe it is a perfect place for summer fun. All houses have split system air conditioning and heating. We also have a communal large self cater kitchen and large communal BBQ area. It is the only privately owned town in Victoria and the only one not on mains power. The town generates its own power, pumps and treats its own water and is also responsible for its waste management.
The Licola Wilderness Village is supported by the Lions Clubs of Victoria and southern New South Wales. Licola Wilderness Village was set up by Lions Clubs over 50 years ago primarily to run camps for the underprivileged, deserving, special needs, and disengaged young people, mostly held during school holidays.

The property is the bush refuge corner of a larger grazing property. Whilst sheep and cattle graze on one side of the fence, the wildlife grazing on "our" side includes echidnas, wombats, wallabies, possums, koalas, and is home to more than 30 species of birds identified so far.
Tarwin Lower EcoStudio is not far out of town and the Tarwin River (4 kms), for boating, paddling and fishing. Slightly further afield is Andersen Inlet (great fishing, paddling, paddle boarding, boating, and shallow waters for very young children), Venus Bay Surf beaches, and Walkerville South bay beach (with boat ramp). Waratah Bay and Wilsons Promontory less than an hour's drive away. And that's just the water sports.
The Great Southern Rail Trail is just up the road, at Koonwarra or Leongatha, and has a range of rides with varying degrees of challenge.
The Eco Studio itself is completely off grid, built from reclaimed and recycled materials, as part of our commitment to living lightly. There is an outdoor kitchen, and composting toilet, and our home garden (we live on the property too) is often abundant and the fresh organic produce is for sale for our visitors.

Experience fabulous fishing, boating and swimming. Fishing is a lot of fun and good catches of Bream, Mullet, Flathead, and Carp can be had. Fishing on the lake is great from the shore or a boat. Hollands Landing boat ramp is only a short drive from the park.
You can relax with 10km of sandy, child friendly swimming beach on beautiful Lake Wellington. Enjoy the lake's clean, safe swimming conditions, which are ideal for yachting, canoeing, kayaking, jet skiing, and boating. Or take a long, lazy stroll along one of our many walking tracks or along the water's edge. You can also bring your pushbikes and enjoy one of the many bike tracks. The park is pet friendly and ponies and horses have a large paddock with clean water if you wish to bring them along and saddle up for some excellent trail riding.
Get back to nature with some native flora and fauna spotting. Abundant wildlife includes rare Sea Eagles, Wedge Tail Eagles, friendly Parrots, and Rosellas. Wombats, Kangaroos, Wallabies, Rabbits, and Echidnas are easily found and large bush possums are everywhere and are easily hand-fed and friendly. Groups of Hog Deer are seen occasionally as they are fairly timid.
We are located between Bairnsdale and Sale. The Park is set on 174 acres of peaceful bushland, including Banksia, Red Gum, White Gum, and ancient River Gum forest. The Park offers both powered and unpowered sites, a communal lounge, separate accommodation, modern toilet facilities, sheltered BBQs as well as a camp kitchen. The park also offers a swimming pool and tennis court.

There are three under cover areas for group camping use :- an outdoor kitchen

The Shack is a two night minimum stay and sleeps two. Extra guests are welcome in a tents/vans outside at an extra cost per person. Jo's place is absolutely beautiful--we woke up to the most incredible flurry of birds in the tree outside the window by the bed. We loved the wood-burning stove, and had breakfast both mornings out on the patio. We had everything we needed and couldn't have been happier with our stay.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Love Shack. It's an ideal spot for camping, with all the amenities needed for a comfortable visit. We especially loved having both an outdoor fire pit and an indoor one. While strong winds and rain limited our outdoor activities, the convenient location, just a short drive to Yarram and close to Tarra-Bulga National Park, allowed us to enjoy a scenic rainforest walk and a picnic lunch. The area is stunning and provides plenty of opportunities for our kids to explore. The property does require some maintenance; for example, the bathroom door was jammed and wouldn't close properly, and the front door handle was loose. Nevertheless, our host Kate was warm, welcoming, and very responsive. All in all, we had a wonderful weekend at the Love Shack.

The Guesthouse was nested in a quiet rainforest setting with beautiful views from the balcony. The accomodation was perfect for a family of 4. It contained everything we needed and the kids enjoying exploring the surrounds. Thank-you for taking the time to give our family the personalised tour of the property. Great insight and the kids loved the adventure in the buggy.

Group trip
This is camping with a lot of extras. Water from the tap (even warm), electricity, shower, induction cooking plate, large BBQ, 2 fridges, etc. There were enough plates, cutlery, cups etc. for the 5 of us. Also other kitchen equipment is there, i.e. pots, pans, knifes, electric kettle and so on. We mostly cooked on the fire, though...
The fenced area is large enough for several tents, caravans, with sufficient distance from the campfire and space for our dog to run and play.
It is very private, but with great views over the valley. Lots of birds around, for example a flock of 10 yellow-tailed black cockatoos has visited the pine tree next to the campsite a few times in the few days we stayed there.
We had a great time and would have loved to stay longer. We also enjoyed the Tarra Bulga National Park close by and Yarram provides all the gocery shopping needs for the stay. Also Port Albert is just aroubd 20 minutes drive, a small historic harbour town with a beautiful walk along the mangroves.
We definitely would stay here again, if we are in the region.

This was a very quiet out of the way spot with lovely views over the paddocks to the hills. The Love Shack was used by my son and his wife who has never camped before. Felt it was a good way to ease her into camping. Plenty of room for our caravan and large tent for the rest of our family members. Yarram was a short drive away. Was great to be on short lush grass and no real ant problems. Although in saying this, there was a huge nest on the corner of the verandah of the Love Shack. Great camp kitchen area and table and chairs to use all under cover. Designated outside fire but not used this trip due to the extreme weather. Overall we all thoroughly enjoyed this location and would go back. The hosts introduced themselves and then kept to themselves. Would recommend this location for a family event.

We stayed in Henry the house bus which was quite roomy with space to sit and a comfy bed with a mosquito net to keep out the mozzies.
As Meg's land is high up the hill behind Buffalo, there are great views to the east. We enjoyed having a fire in the evening looking at the stars.

The space was great, fully fenced and private with great views and kept in good condition.

We have come home from a perfect and tranquil trip at Jo & Russell's beautiful EcoStudio. We are honestly lost for words for this oasis they have created. The photos don't do it justice and every step of the way you are met with kindness from these two exceptional people. This studio is filled with love and every part has a story. We loved every part of the studio, it is so well thought out for the people visiting and for the environmental footprint. We hope this will be a returning spot for our family as we honestly couldn't think of a better spot to unwind and relax in nature. I would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful spot to everyone!
