Camping sites are situated at the back of the property just a quick 5-minute walk from the car park. Tarwin Lower EcoStudio is not far out of town and the Tarwin River (4 kms), for boating, paddling and fishing. Slightly further afield is Andersen Inlet (great fishing, paddling, paddle boarding, boating, and shallow waters for very young children), Venus Bay Surf beaches, and Walkerville South bay beach (with boat ramp). We are located between Bairnsdale and Sale. The Park is set on 174 acres of peaceful bushland, including Banksia, Red Gum, White Gum, and ancient River Gum forest. Heaven on Earth. We must be the luckiest people alive to have somehow become the owners of this property which is only a short drive from the breathtaking Wilsons Promontory, and according to Lonely Planet, the second best beach in the WORLD.
The property has an abundance of temperate rainforest including massive gum trees, 6m tall tree ferns, permanent spring fed creeks, our own lake and more Australian wildlife than most zoos*. Living here, we feel like we're on holiday every day of the year.
Camping sites are situated at the back of the property just a quick 5-minute walk from the car park. We'll transport your gear to your campsite so you can get set up quickly and start exploring the property or just kick back and relax. The three campsites are positioned so that you won't hear a sound from any other campers on the property. You will feel like you've got the whole place to yourself. And even though the campsites are isolated you'll still enjoy the convenience of clean regular flushing toilet facilities. But unlike any toilet you'll have used before, you'll get to enjoy a our unique loo with a view which is situated right amongst the rainforest looking out over the magestic tree ferns!
Whether you intend to simply relax and listen to all the birdlife, grab a few drinks and head up to the viewing deck to watch the sunset, or put on your hiking boots and explore the rainforest, whatever you do, you will truly get back to nature. The property is the bush refuge corner of a larger grazing property. Whilst sheep and cattle graze on one side of the fence, the wildlife grazing on "our" side includes echidnas, wombats, wallabies, possums, koalas, and is home to more than 30 species of birds identified so far.
Tarwin Lower EcoStudio is not far out of town and the Tarwin River (4 kms), for boating, paddling and fishing. Slightly further afield is Andersen Inlet (great fishing, paddling, paddle boarding, boating, and shallow waters for very young children), Venus Bay Surf beaches, and Walkerville South bay beach (with boat ramp). Waratah Bay and Wilsons Promontory less than an hour's drive away. And that's just the water sports.
The Great Southern Rail Trail is just up the road, at Koonwarra or Leongatha, and has a range of rides with varying degrees of challenge.
The Eco Studio itself is completely off grid, built from reclaimed and recycled materials, as part of our commitment to living lightly. There is an outdoor kitchen, and composting toilet, and our home garden (we live on the property too) is often abundant and the fresh organic produce is for sale for our visitors.

There are three under cover areas for group camping use :- an outdoor kitchen

Groups of Hog Deer are seen occasionally as they are fairly timid.
We are located between Bairnsdale and Sale. The Park is set on 174 acres of peaceful bushland, including Banksia, Red Gum, White Gum, and ancient River Gum forest. This was a very quiet out of the way spot with lovely views over the paddocks to the hills. The Love Shack was used by my son and his wife who has never camped before. Felt it was a good way to ease her into camping. Plenty of room for our caravan and large tent for the rest of our family members. Yarram was a short drive away. Was great to be on short lush grass and no real ant problems. Although in saying this, there was a huge nest on the corner of the verandah of the Love Shack. Great camp kitchen area and table and chairs to use all under cover. Designated outside fire but not used this trip due to the extreme weather. Overall we all thoroughly enjoyed this location and would go back. The hosts introduced themselves and then kept to themselves. Would recommend this location for a family event.

We stayed in Henry the house bus which was quite roomy with space to sit and a comfy bed with a mosquito net to keep out the mozzies.
As Meg's land is high up the hill behind Buffalo, there are great views to the east. We enjoyed having a fire in the evening looking at the stars.

We have come home from a perfect and tranquil trip at Jo & Russell's beautiful EcoStudio. We are honestly lost for words for this oasis they have created. The photos don't do it justice and every step of the way you are met with kindness from these two exceptional people. This studio is filled with love and every part has a story. We loved every part of the studio, it is so well thought out for the people visiting and for the environmental footprint. We hope this will be a returning spot for our family as we honestly couldn't think of a better spot to unwind and relax in nature. I would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful spot to everyone!

It’s a great set up for dogs and kids. So much space and fresh air! We had a lovely 3 nights with 3 generations and 2 dogs. The love shack and add-on facilities are very rustic, but that is what we were expecting as accurrsye. is reflected by the price. Kate made some great suggestions for activities.

1 night at SIBA Retreat Centre
We had a fantastic stay in the Cabin! Starting from super supportive and welcoming host George, surrounded by wallabies and luaghing kookaburras.
Cabin was very tidy and clean, all amenities in good condition, and marvellous views.
We would definitely come back!

Weekend Trip to Tarwin Lower Eco Studio (Off Grid)
Fun mix of salvaged materials and native plants! We enjoyed our stay. A few practical considerations:
1. lots of glass, so bring a sleep mask if you wake with light
2. fold out 2nd bed is soft and springy
3. lots of pets in the past and some old furniture, so bring allergy/asthma meds if you might need them
Had everything we needed, composting toilet smelled great, and gracious hosts!

We had the most relaxing, enjoyable weekend tucked away in the cabin. Very private, warm and with the amenities you need: comfy bed, tidy bathroom, cooking supplies. We enjoyed both cool evenings and rain at night - which was pleasant thanks to the cosy wood burner - plus blue sky days which made for great exploring and spotting wildlife, also close to the inlet and Venus bay. We were welcomed with freshly harvested strawberries from Jo which was a delight!

Lovely camping spot with a cosy, well‑set‑up area and peaceful surroundings, but the constant rain during the stay made it hard to fully enjoy everything on offer; would happily return again in better weather.
