Hazelnut Valley is a working Hazelnut Farm located along the Tyres River. We are an easy 2-hour drive from CBD Melbourne, so we are a great location for either short or long stays. Christmas Holiday Bookings Christmas and Boxing Days are available on request only, we will not be accepting any booking for arrival on Christmas or Boxing Days, so that we can have quality family time. Any guest who would like to book a site to arrive before Christmas Day and depart after Boxing Day please message us via Hip Camp and we can make the site available for your booking. Guests MUST be fully self-contained and bring their own camping toilet. (No holes in the ground) you will need to have a suitable camp toilet where you are able to take your waste with you on departure. There is a Dump Point available in Rawson. Site Toilets can be hired thru Moe Hire (03 5127 7114), they will deliver & pick up from your site. A fire pit is provided free for the duration of your stay to each camp group. As the name reveals we live on a small ridge with at least 3 pairs of Kookaburras living around our house. With a 52 acre property we run miniature sheep to keep our land green and produce ethically raised 100% grass fed lamb. Each site has three levels. The top level is for vans and/or tents; the middle level is for tents only and the bottom level is the fire pit area. Each level is quite narrow so camper vans that flip out to the side and annexes are likely not to fit. Surrounded by pine plantation and native trees, you can enjoy secluded time without neighbours except native animals and birds! Perfect for bushwalking or mountain biking. What you can do around here: 30 minutes drive to Tarra Bulga National Park, Woodside Beach and Maryvale Pines MTB track. 20 minutes to Yarram for shopping and awesome coffee, also popular for Heesco murals. Outdoor swimming pool is open in summer time where you can have a hot shower. 5 minutes to Carrajung Estate which has exceptional wine and incredible cuisine.

The Shack is a two night minimum stay and sleeps two. Extra guests are welcome in a tents/vans outside at an extra cost per person. We border the Mitchell river with the farm so there are about 1 km of secluded banks to sit or swim from if you want to just stay put. For those wanting pure relaxation, meditation, and soul grounding. We can personally show you some tremendous places on the farm to go within. Pure solace is something that many take for granted. Use our pyramid to draw in Quantum/etheric energy, go to the top of our crystal hill and feel the energies. There is so much to be thankful for when you can release in these spaces. Alternatively sit amongst the cows and feel their energy surround you as their curious nature brings them in closer and closer until they relax around you. Alternatively if you want to chill with a beer on the river bank and try for some bass, or watch the eastern water dragons play in the sun and water, then that’s a great way to unwind, or soak up the sun rays as it drops below the horizon on the crystal hill or rolling flood plains. A personal favourite of a campfire and a few drinks with the stars is a great way to unwind when you have so much space and privacy. The sites are located next to our rental lodge where we sometimes do retreats, or holiday let it as well. The privacy is wonderful if that's what you are looking for. A walk each morning from one end of the farm where you will stay to the other and back is a leisurely 2kms so maybe that is your morning start, but walk the lanes and check the fences and cows while you're at it please 🙂, ticks a job for us while your relaxing. Want to learn about the history of the area? Well a session with us will teach you everything didn't know about the Dargo High Plains, the mountain cattlemen of the high country and much more. Take advantage of your time to enjoy the history of the area and the wonderful past times enjoyed. What is available off farm? Number one, the pub with great counter meals is across the river, 5kms away. Lindenow Farmers Hotel is iconic in its design and history, the reputed Lindenow Long Paddock Cafe is also a few hundred metres from the pub, and the Post Office and Store have all your essentials. Need a few more things? Bairnsdale is 24kms away from the farm and offers all you need. Lakes Entrance is about 40 mins for a day out on the beach. Paynesville around 30 mins. If you want to venture up into the mountains then why not go through Dargo just 45 mins and up onto Mt Hotham (Summer only) via the Dargo High Plains. It’s a great track and on occasions I take people up for a guided tour and secret camp spots on my yearly run up there for my own relax time. East Gippsland in general is a wonderful region to stop and relax during all seasons but especially summer with the water activities available, the camping in the high country, and the markets that abound the area. Take a 1/2 day or full day trip into the mountains and see the mighty Snowy River and Little River Gorge. Buchan is also a 45 minute drive to the ocean and the 90 mile beach. Grandview is one of the original homesteads of Buchan, which we are in the process of lovingly restoring. We have the belief that this place is to be shared. We love where we live and this is our way of sharing the beauty of the Buchan and surrounding valleys.

We had 3 nights last weekend and really liked the space. The driveway is quite spectacular. We had three caravans, the tallest being 3m and no problem getting in, just need to pick your gap thru the trees. The gap next to the ‘camping’ sign is the tallest space. Will definitely stay again.

Many thanks to Paul & Kirstie for letting us stay on their amazing property. We loved it. Peaceful, perfect manicured grass, power if you want it, the little rotunda we camped next to, walk to the pub for dinner, unreal views over the hills, etc etc !! When we arrived there was about 5 other caravans setup, but don't worry as there's plenty of spots to find and yes there's a bit of levelling but nothing to worry about unless you're someone that likes concrete slabs ! Visit Buchan and stay here, can't go wrong , such a great place to stay and area to explore.

Great spot for a camp! Nice flat camp sites with close proximity to the river. We had a tent so it was perfect for that type of camping. Easy car access. Bernie greeted us on arrival and showed us to our spot. The areas are well kept and the hazelnut trees are a nice backdrop. All in all we had a wonderful time.
