The Property is situated on the pristine Wallagaraugh river near the Victorian and New South Wales border, 8km down an all weather dirt road has some bumpy sections, accessible for caravaners and boaters and is approximately 45 km from Eden and 40 km from Mallacoota by car, very isolated but has limited phone and internet reception, 15 minutes down river Gypsy Point, another 20 minutes your at Mallacoota on the coast if you need fuel, supplies, etc, 5 to 10 minutes up river the bullring , proceeding with caution you will go through a temperate rainforest and end up at the rock wall with small waterfalls and fresh water pools. A haven for many species of birds and wildlife, sea and wedge tail eagles nesting close by a bird watchers and canoeists paradise, also many species of fish so if you want to wet a line a Victorian fishing licence is needed, the river has a 5 knot speed limit from the campsite to Gypsy Point, if your more into bushwalking or sightseeing there are several national parks within a 30 minute drive or boat trip, or just have a swim, chill, relax and enjoy the peace and serenity. one site has small tinny access to the river and the other is good for a 20 ft boat, camping and fires are only allowed in designated camping areas due to rehabilitation of river frontage large trees and flash flooding, at all sites you cannot camp or have fires in fenced off river frontage, bring your own firewood or it can be supplied for $25 per wheelbarrow when booking in, you will have to provide your own, shower, water, etc, all sites have access to a site toilet, take all waste away when you leave, I can arrange if needed by prior notice, bulk firewood, launching of boat, etc. No firewood collection, motorbike riding, shooting or 4x4ing on site, some pets on leash may be allowed by prior arrangement, there's a 10 % discount factored in at checkout if booking for 5 or more nights, if having trouble booking or any other inquiries please send message cheers John.

There are three under cover areas for group camping use :- an outdoor kitchen
area with sink, bench space and a full size fridge/freezer, an enclosed pen with an extra BBQ, There is a large covered area with a 100" pull down projector screen (bring your own projector for movie nights and fun).
The Shack is a two night minimum stay and sleeps two. Extra guests are welcome in a tents/vans outside at an extra cost per person. The Shack has one bedroom with linen available as an extra, a small open plan kitchen with fridge, kettle and mini cooker. The living room features a little combustion woodfire heater.
Camping enthusiasts can enjoy a level, grassy site with spectacular views across the Tarra River to the forest, or behind you across the paddocks.
We are only 3 kms away from the Tarra Bulga National Park and 10 kms from the historic town of Yarram if you need any supplies. Woodside Beach,

The property is the bush refuge corner of a larger grazing property. Whilst sheep and cattle graze on one side of the fence, the wildlife grazing on "our" side includes echidnas, wombats, wallabies, possums, koalas, and is home to more than 30 species of birds identified so far.
Tarwin Lower EcoStudio is not far out of town and the Tarwin River (4 kms), for boating, paddling and fishing. Slightly further afield is Andersen Inlet (great fishing, paddling, paddle boarding, boating, and shallow waters for very young children), Venus Bay Surf beaches, and Walkerville South bay beach (with boat ramp). Waratah Bay and Wilsons Promontory less than an hour's drive away. And that's just the water sports.
The Great Southern Rail Trail is just up the road, at Koonwarra or Leongatha, and has a range of rides with varying degrees of challenge.
The Eco Studio itself is completely off grid, built from reclaimed and recycled materials, as part of our commitment to living lightly. There is an outdoor kitchen, and composting toilet, and our home garden (we live on the property too) is often abundant and the fresh organic produce is for sale for our visitors.

We are a working Beef property, we have 2 working cattle dogs. We have Angus cows and Wagyu bulls and produce First cross wagyu calves. We have dorper sheep and an Alpaca for protection.
Some of the sites have ocean views. This is a large paddock with no designated camp sites. YOU get to choose where you set up. There’s plenty of options so pick a site with a bit of space around you.
In whale migration season you can often see the whales breaching off shore, otherwise sit back and spot the odd sailing boat or enjoy the sunsets.
There’s a bush track through the bush down to a good surf FISHING beach, or Point Ricardo is 1 km away.
We are 10 kilometres to the mouth of the Snowy River and the township of Marlo where there is a 2 great coffee shops and the Marlo Hotel where you can watch the sunset over the Snowy Estuary and have a great meal. To the east 8kms is Cape Conran with swimming beaches and a boat ramp to the ocean.
The site setting is a cow paddock, there are NO facilities available you must be fully self sufficient. This venue will suit RV ‘s, caravans or the fully self contained rustic camper that have their OWN TOILETS!

It was so lovely to stay the night at Trent’s property. He was very friendly and welcoming and had all sorts of outdoor activities to keep our son entertained.

Trent was super helpful and friendly!
We were on site 7 right on the water with a bridge as well
Plenty of firewood available all around the property just bring a chainsaw and Trent will let you know where the spots are.
The ground is obviously pretty un even to be expected near a water source but we made it work with our camper trailer
Would be fine for a caravan but we needed flat ground as our kids are on the ground part of the camper trailer.

Great spot for a couple or group. Trent was really friendly and he and his dog met us at the gate and show us which was the best spot for camping. We stayed along a flowing creek. Communal toilet was clean and safe from the elements. Would definitely recommend this spot to anyone!

Beautiful view and lots of space between the shacks/tiny houses. Be a great spot to have some mates and pitch a couple extra tents. Love Shack itself was pretty poky, some small things like the blinds weren't working great.

What a stunning piece of land to share with campers! Not only are you surrounded by amazing australian alpine bush but you also have tyres river right there in full glory. The property is tucked away from any major road and you feel as if youre the only person for ages. Even though youre out in the bush, you feel very secure and safe on the property. The camp areas are very well set out with each one getting better as you travel further down the property, all sites can access the water and have exceptional views of the bush, they also have great spacing so you are not too close to other campers and each sign post comes with its own kookaburra! The amount of wildlife that surrounded the property was amazing, plenty of variety of bird life, trout in the river and if youre lucky enough youll get a special moment to see the platypus and wombats. Lisa and Bernie have taken such great care and detail in ensuring you get to your site safe and sound, with specific and precise instructions that are easily followed and even though Bernie couldnt meet me on arrival he made sure I knew where to go and what to expect and then happily came over to say gday and made me feel welcome on the property. Im looking forward to booking another stay on the Hazelnut farm.

I loved this place! Bernie met me at the front and took my exactly where i was staying so it wasn’t unclear at all. the views were beautiful and i would definitely stay here in the summer! super affordable too!

Weekend Trip to Tarwin Lower Eco Studio (Off Grid)
What a beautiful location
Really enjoyed the isolation and little cocoon of privacy, the Eco cabin provided. Just what I needed to relax and unwind to finish some uni work uninterrupted by calls and emails . Would love to come back for a longer stay. As it was like arriving home to a big hug from grandma , as I was welcomed with a warm fire , fresh flowers, clean sheets and the option of a hot water bottle.
Definitely will be back but shhh 🤫 it’s to sweet to share.
Guests do need to be aware of its eco features and low impact mindset as outlined by Jo’s descriptions but they don’t impact on your stay if you know.
