Tarcool is set on 200 pristine acres, on the Avon River, bordering the Hendricks State Forest. We offer a lovely open grassy area for self-contained campers. The land is level, access is good, and it's just 50 metres from the riverbank, with access to beautiful swimming holes. There are wonderful 4wd tracks ,motorbike and bushwalking tracks to and throughout the State forest, a stonesthrow from camp. Well-behaved dogs are welcome! We are just 22km to Newry, Maffra, and Briagolong - all with great local pubs! Close to Glenmaggie Weir, hour and half from Dargo or Licola. You can float down from Wombat Crossing down to your camp site or Canoeing or just sit back in a deck chair watching your campfire with a great book. Avon River is fastest rising and falling river in the Southern hemisphereA beautiful wide camping area, exclusive to one group only, just a stonesthrow from the river. The land is level, and access is good. A fantastic spot for families or groups looking for some time in pure nature! The river has several gentle shores easing into the water, and some beautiful swimming holes to cool off. Strictly not using ground as a toilet and leaving toilet paper on property. All campers must be self-sufficient, with their own camp toilet, and we kindly ask you take all waste with you when you leave. There is a dedicated firepit you are welcome to use when conditions allow - please adhere to local fire restrictions. And a wood fired BBQ Next door sells firewood and from 1st march designated areas across the river up Mt Angus track are opened please check DEECAs website which area as fines are very hefty. Do not take firewood off property unless told. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and to be off-leash, but please ensure they do not hassle the cattle and sheep in the adjoining paddock, and are able to return to call. Firewood is not to be collected off property unless told so, next door neighbour sells firewood or in wood season can be collected across the river up Angus Track .

Off leash. Please only let your dog off lead if it can return to call, and strictly do not let them hassle the cattle and sheep in the adjoining paddock. Please also ensure they are picked up after.

We absolutely loved camping at Tarcool! The site was huge, the location by the river was perfect and the kids loved making a fairy town at the "sand pit" down by the river. We enjoyed the privacy, the epic fire pit, all the beautiful birds, fishing and canoeing along the river. There were many wombat holes but we were out of luck in spotting one! Christine was responsive and gave clear instructions for arrival. We will definitely be back.

Tarcool was amazing on every level. Christine was a great host, delivering a pile of firewood for a much needed warm fire. We camped on lush green grass and we were only a stones throw from the crystal clear waters of the Avon river. Only one spot so you get this all to yourself. The only gripe is, we wish it was closer to Sydney.

Huge thanks to Tom & Teen, for allowing us to camp at their fabulous property. Their directions were accurate. The space was huge, and well maintained. A short stroll down the bank, to the stunning Avon River. Shallow enough for the kids to easily play, but deep enough in spots to fully submerge and cool off. 4wd would be preferable if you have a bigger van, and potentially wet weather. One for the

Lovely location. Very peaceful. The views down at the riverside are beautiful. The river was clear , we used water from there to fill our caravan tanks. Lots of bird life . Overall we could not ask for a nicer place to camp.

We loved our time at Tracool campsite. Had an amazing weekend. Didn’t want to leave. Will definitely be back again. The hosts Tom & Christine were so welcoming and friendly. The campsite and the river were amazing. Highly recommend.

If you want self sufficient camping and complete privacy on an amazing block along the Avon river then this is definitely the place to be !! Our second stay here, we love the location on the river, beautiful, peaceful and private with lots of beautiful birds and wildlife, especially down by the river. We took the paddle board and it was awesome to just cruise up and down the river. Hosts are great and was such a relaxing weekend, highly recommend. We will be returning again soon.

This is such a pretty and peaceful spot ! You have plenty of privacy to enjoy the land -no noisy neighbours anywhere ! The river is right beside your camp . My dogs also love all the wonderful smells 😁 so bring the whole family ! It’s central to many of the quaint little towns of Gippsland so plenty to see on your day trips .

Beautiful secluded spot right near the river. Lots of open space available with a fire pit in the middle and sheep as the only neighbours. Make sure to bring shelter as the river is in full sun from about 11 am. Mobile coverage is extremely spotty so ideal if you want to switch off. We absolutely loved this camping spot. We had it all to ourselves, which is rare these days. The river was lovely too, perfect for cooling off in the hot weather. Christine is an amazing host, highly recommend this spot.

Lovely camp site, very private, loved the river for a dip on a hot day. Huge fire pit as well as a bbq to cook on which was very handy. Christine was a helpful and friendly host, site was easy to access, looking forward to returning.

Absolutely loved the complete privacy of Christine's camp site. It's a great spot with a wide open mown grass area and easy access to the river. Christine was a lovely host and showed us where we could collect some wood, there is a big fire drum for a worry free fire. I would recommend for river users bringing some water shoes. It's a rocky river, which means it's clean and clear, but a bit rough on the feet. River shoes made it easy though. We had a great time exploring the scenic nature reserve nearby as well. With some easy 4wd access to some beautiful views. Overall a fantastic camping spot. We had a great time and so will you.

We had a wonderful stay on lovely land with a river running through. Fire pit was all there for us and we swam and relaxed in the quiet with only birdsong as the backdrop. Christine and Tom went the extra mile for us - were very helpful.

A great spot to stay, lovely surroundings, and had a beautiful river running through, that you can cool off in, in Summer. Hosts were very welcoming and very friendly dogs. we would definitely stay here again
