Weekend Trip to Amherst Farm Camp SIte

We loved camping at Wendy's place. Easy to find. A great set up with camp fires and wood to buy, dump Point and nice flat ground. Wendy and her dog Maggie were very friendly and you have the option to hore a metal detector. We didn't find any gold but had fun trying! The dogs had fun running around the paddock and we had time to relax in the peaceful surroundings. Definitely somewhere to go if you want to unplug and unwind.

Had a great time camping on Wendy's land! Had the entire place to ourselves, property was easy to find and site was easy to get to, site was level and cleared well. There is a small firepit at the site with a grill for cooking, firewood was provided for a fee but there was plenty of firewood on the road in that we used instead. Overall good value for money and we had a relaxing time!

Great spot to unwind and disconnect. Very quiet and private apart from the kangaroos at dawn and dusk. The open night sky is easily admired along with the sunrise and sunset. Wendy was very responsive and helpful.

1 night at Maldon Camp

It was great to have the site to ourselves. It is basically an open paddock , very dry at the moment and a quite a few ants around. There was plenty of shade and beautiful trees to camp under, although too windy for us to do that this trip. Rod dropped in to say hi and offer us his chainsaw but respected our privacy.

Our stay at the campsite was amazing! The location was private and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The highlight was the stunning sunset view, painting the sky with vibrant colors. At night, the clear sky was filled with stars, making it a truly magical experience. The campsite was closer to the road and the main house than we initially expected, but it didn’t bother us at all.

Weekend Trip to Bendigo Beauty

If you plan on camping and going around and exploring Bendigo and returning to camp for sleep this is a cheap and very accessible option. It's close to the centre on town and a lot cheaper than the Gold Nugget. The owner Vincent is nice and his caretaker Ricky is very nice and helpful. They are really relaxed and really easy going. You are in a pasture so if you've never been on a farm this probably isn't you're kind of place unless you want a farm experience. The cows and camels are pets. My daughter played ball with the cows. This place is also good for a stopover if you've been driving a long distance. The Libety petrol station, to my surprise, made the best cafe/restaurant coffee I've ever had. If you plan on camping and remaining on the property to enjoy camping it might not be the place for you. Since it is on the main road you do hear the traffic as we choose the spot closer to the toilet. I'm a light sleeper so I hear everything. The grass was short in the pasture which if you're a camper is good. I can't speak about the back pasture as we never ventured to that side of property. It is flat. I did like the easygoing nature of the owner and caretaker which is half of staying and visiting a place. I could see the potential in this being a camping haven but I think the owner is trying to decide how'd he like to set it up and if he can work that out it'd only improve the spot.

1 night at Maldon Camp

Rod adds a nice touch by coming to say Hi and making sure you are happy and have everything you need. The directions to the site was a little confusing but we got to where we needed or wanted to be. The road is a bit noisy and dusty depending on the wind direction, but does settle down at night We made a great fire in the provided pit and watched the most amazing night sky It is a pretty simple set up but it provided us with what we needed, and fairly close to Maldon which is such a cute town… Would recommend Good Food Providers in town for lunch!

Our property, "Seven Hills Tallarook", sits high above Tallarook with deep valleys and high peaks, just over one hour North of Melbourne's CBD. The property is 600 acres of thick Victorian bush and farmed paddocks. We have a wide range of hobby farm animals - pigs, sheep, alpacas, chickens, ponies, a donkey, along with commercial heard of South African Boer Goats. As night falls, the wildlife come out to play - kangaroos, rabbits, deer and wallabies. Internally, we have in excess of 10 kilometers of roads within the property, the majority being 2WD accessible (weather conditions apply). There are parts of the property which are only 4WD accessible. Our campsites are placed to allow you to be as isolated as possible - away from other campers (you may see others as you drive past, or they drive past you). At some of our bush sites, you will be able to see other campers, but they are not close by. Additionally, we have now entered our Fire Danger Period for the 2024/2025 Summer Season. We have not toggled the Fire Ban on as we do still allow campfires, however campers MUST adhere to CFA guidelines at all times. On days of Total Fire Ban (TFB), no fires, including gas stoves can be lit outdoors. Furthermore, we reserve the right to ask you not to light a fire regardless of TFB status if we feel weather conditions are unsafe, especially the wind element. Redbank offers sites across 200 acres of land, SITE 1 a main area offers 4 large sites suited to campers wanting to be super close to toilet, shower, camp kitchen, and playgrounds, which is a major hit with the kids making it a popular spot for families. The camp kitchen has dining space and barbecue facilities. There are about 6 paddock sites that are still within walking distance to all facilities but are nicely spread out to provide guests with there own space. We have 4 sites that you will either need to be a self-sufficient camper, or keen for a hike to facilities as these sites offer a lot more privacy and would need 4wD to access. 2 more sites that you must completely self sufficient and have 4wd skills. We are a no trace camp ground and ask you to take all waste with you when you leave. Dogs are permitted in camps but must be kept on a leash to protect our livestock. Redbank is a working Farm and you will likely see or hear evidence of this during your stay, but we are very considerate of our campers and have had a wonderful experience sharing our land so far and had very happy campers. BEYOND REDBANK156 Campers will find many more attractions in the area, Great spots for hiking, swimming, fishing or just straight up relaxing in the serenity. TRUPENS waterfalls are close by CASCADES and the Coliban River runs through Metcalfe AND EPPOLOCK just up the road. A short drive of 10-15min in all directions will take you to one of the funky little historic towns Kyneton, Castlemaine, Redesdale, and Malmsbury, and another 15 mins on to Daylesford and Trentham all filled with brilliant restaurants, cafes, vineyards, vibrant retail and market scene. What more could you possibly need for a great getaway?

Pitch your completely self-sufficient sleeping quarters on our peaceful, flat, 53 acre property which is a 12 minute drive from Kyneton and Woodend, both with a fabulous selection of delightful restaurants, cafes, pubs, wine bars. There is a local taxi service if guests would like to go out for lunch or dinner with wine and/or cocktails at some of the delicious cafes, restaurants & bars: in Kyneton we love Little Swallow Cafe, Home Grown, Miss M's Lounge, Dhaba, Fook Shing, and Botanik Balcony. In Woodend we love Bangkok House, Tram Place, Las Margaritas, 600 Above, Milko, Fox in the Chamber & Gindu. Kangaroos often bounce through the property at dusk & dawn not to mention stunning sunrises & sunsets. There is a lovely quiet bike ride or walk along our road with minimal traffic. Campfires are allowed subject to local fire restrictions & must be fully extinguished before you turn in for the night. Please search for the CFA 'Fire Danger Period: Can I or Can't I?' which has all of the appropriate information. Each site has a fire pit which you can use providing it is not a total fire ban. Firewood is available at a cost to you of $50 per wheelbarrow load which will easily cover two nights. This is the main source of fuel for our home so if you burn the wood, we have paid to have split on our property we’ll have to replace it to keep our family warm. You are not permitted to use a chainsaw on our property. We have 3 separate camping locations on the property. All 3 sites are easily accessible for RVs and camp trailers. We are NOT a commercial campsite and, as such, you must be fully self-contained for power, water, showers, sewage, refuse disposal, etc. Rubbish cannot be left on our property.

You might like to spend your free time adventuring, exploring the property, swimming in the dam, enjoying a fire bath or wandering through the forest. We'd like to respect the privacy of other residents living here, so please keep to the camping area on the south half of the property. If you're curious about our hempcrete house, vegie gardens or to ask us more about community living, please make sure to ask us *before* your stay, and we may be available to chat to you or show you around. However, there will be times however when we wont have capacity to greet you or show you around.

We are a 20 minute drive from Lake Eppalock which is a great spot for those who love their fishing, boating and swimming. We are 10 minutes from the O'Keefe Trail which is perfect for those who like to explore by bike or by foot. There are a variety of great wineries and cellar doors nearby for you to explore, most of who sell their own local produce. Local pub and a variety of cafes are all within a 15 minutes drive. We are also close to 4WD and motorbike tracks, campers are not permitted to ride motorbikes on the property. Campfires are permitted out of the fireban season, please check the CFA website to be up to date with any restrictions at the time of your stay. Campers must use the fire drum available to them. The shelter area also an old BBQ that you are welcome to use. Please take all waste with you and leave the site as you found it.
