Easter at Somerville Park 2026
A Country Shot coffee van will be back every morning, and TIAMO—Twin Flame will return for our Saturday Night Pizza Night. Plus, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday morning. Portable toilets will be located across the property for campers' convenience. Campers with their own toilet facilities need to ensure all toilet waste is to be taken off the property.
Somerville Park is a 500acre property at Fosterville, 20mins from Bendigo. There are a variety of campsites suitable for self-contained guests who have their own toilet/shower facilities and drinking water. We also have 2 newly developed powered sites for your convenience. Please note, all toilet waste is strictly to be taken off the property. Campfires are permitted in provided fire-pits or your own portable metal fire-pit out of fire restriction times and feel free to bring your furry friends, making sure they're leashed at all times. Some sites also provide chairs and table settings for your convenience.
The farm is completely surrounded by the Wellsford state forest which offers bush walking and many tracks for bike riding. Mt Sugarloaf which is situated south of the property provides a great hike. Spectacular sunrises and sunsets create beautiful reflections on the water in the numerous dams on the property. Rainfall can restrict access to some sites on the property.
The city of Bendigo is 25mins drive. Epsom is a 15min drive where you will find a shopping centre which includes a petrol station, Woollies, Pizza, Chemist Warehouse, Aldi, Brumbys Bakery, Reject Shop, Fish and Chips and BWS. Lake Eppalock is a 25min drive where you can engage in water sport activities. The Campaspe River is 10mins away.
The farm is very quiet and restful with the sounds of abundant native bird life and provides great subjects and scenery for the photographic enthusiast. Loud, party groups with music at high volume are not permitted. Chainsaws and motorbikes are also not permitted.

Highly recommend Kilbirnie Peak Glamping if you’re looking for a country getaway. 360 degree views of the country side, comfy bed, bath on the deck (with hot water), toilet and shower (it is glamping), pizza oven and BBQ, fire pit (when it’s not a total fire ban), lots of sheep and an alpaca 🦙, had yummy homemade cookies waiting for us, so many little touches (mozzie coils, usb fans, phone chargers, lovely toiletries, plenty of towels, speaker), just wasn’t a long enough stay ❤️
Susie is a fabulous host and great communication. Will definitely be back again.

Amazing place to stay. Sunrise shining through the tent in the morning and unbelievable sunsets at night. And the bath tub which was great on the hot days. We had clear nights so were treated to some of the best stars we've seen.
Hosts were great as well. Highly recommend the breakfast box.

What a special experience at Susan’s place. The bath is spectacular!!!! Susan has thought of every detail. Plates, glassware, tea and coffee - it all made the glamping very glamorous! The 2WD-accessible camping spot facing the dam is easy to reach. With only one campsite available, it's nice knowing you won’t have other groups right next to you. We didn’t get to use the canoe, but it’s there for guests to enjoy.
You’ll definitely experience some wildlife during your stay. We had a very busy but respectful kookaburra keeping us company the whole time, and plenty of happy wallabies and kangaroos hopping around. In warmer weather, if you go for a bushwalk, be mindful of snakes, and you may also see flying termites arriving at sunset.
Karen and David were very welcoming. Lalgambook Retreat is the perfect spot to enjoy a true camping experience while still having easy access to a hot shower and a clean flushable toilet just a short walk away.

Our second stay at this amazing property. Many sites to choose from, our favourite is the wetlands. Trudy and James are so hospitable and extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife on their property. Private, peaceful, great walks, wild life and fantastic hosts. We’ve stayed at many amazing hip camps, this one is by far my favourite. Cannot wait to visit again.

Karen and David's home at Lalgambook Retreat is magical. Nestled in a valley adjoining old gold mining settlements and the Dry Diggings section of the Great Dividing Trail it's a haven for anyone that loves nature, walking or just relaxing in a peaceful and tranquil environment where flora and fauna abound. Directions were perfect and access to the property easy with a little care. The final section of the descent into the valley is a reasonably steep but well formed drive and we managed it easily with our 8m 3.2t caravan and Landcruiser. The waterside site is easy to reverse into, is treed but with plenty of sun for solar power, and overlooks a large dam with a swimming platform. Karen and David have provided everything to make a stay more comfortable - bathroom with warm showers, bore water at the site for washing and a fire pit. We loved our 2 night stay here and could have stayed longer to take in more of the local walking. We walked to the nearby Chocolate Mill for coffee and visited the Daylesford Market and a local winery for lunch. A perfect weekend.

This is a truly beautiful location. Over 200 acres of revegetated bush land with a variety of places to pitch your tent or park a caravan in absolute privacy. Directions and access were easy. Trudy and James’ commitment to their land is clearly evident with so many gentle touches to make our stay comfortable. Flora and fauna abound. We walked the length of Gatjin Dja, and to the top of neighbouring Mt Korong with its spectacular views. Also a visit to nearby Melville Caves and the friendly town of Wedderburn. Thankyou for a wonderful 2 day stay!

Castlemaine
Castlemaine is a small city with an eclectic arts scene, which attracts creatives from around the globe. A thriving food scene is supported by an artisan precinct, home to vintage collectables and vintage markets where makers produce cheeses, small goods, clothing, furniture, art, and more. Campers are welcome at nearby Hipcamps and holiday parks that offer easy access to the town’s fun.
Maldon
Maldon proudly displays its heritage with grand historical architecture from the mid-19th-century gold rush era, a Vintage Machinery Museum, and a steam train ride on the Victorian Goldfields Railway. Shop for local produce, antiques, and handcrafted souvenirs at Maldon Market, then escape town for an overnight stay in the bush or on the Loddon River.
Axedale
Midway between Bendigo and Heathcote, enjoy the BBQ area and shady picnic spots in riverside parklands at Axedale, where you might see the river’s famed platypus. Axedale is a popular stopping point for cyclists or walkers on the O’Keefe Rail Trail, while lunch at the Axedale Tavern, a family-friendly country style pub, is a must do.
When to go
Summer is peak season in Victoria with campsites, caravan parks, and holiday parks best booked far in advance—Christmas and Easter holidays are particularly in demand. If you’re looking for fewer crowds, visit after the Australia Day long weekend in January, which marks the end of the summer school holidays, and before Easter, which is generally when nights start to get cool.
