Camp and fish just a stonesthrow from one of Tasmania's most stunning natural landscapes, Cradle Mountain. Here you'll find nature at its best, just 10 minutes drive from the Cradle Mountain Visitors centre, the perfect base for discovering this magical area.
Our campsites are on scenic, levelled areas overlooking the large dam and bushland, with grassed areas ideal for tents and camper-vans, and a portaloo a short walk away. The block is a natural timber and grassland block, with devils, quolls and wombats also residing here. We have one powered site available, and multiple unpowered sites.
There is a lovely walking track around the dams periphery. Feed fish from the edge, spot platypus frolicking about, and keep your eye out for Peacocks wandering the property too. Whilst you are welcome to bring your dog with you, please ensure they don't harass the wildlife.

Bush camping beside a small lake on a 103-acre rainforest property. Only one person/group allowed at any time, so this an exclusive camping and bushwalking experience. Guests enjoy private walking-track access into the Tasman National Park, including routes toward Tunnel Bay/Shipstern Bluff. Early check-in and/or late check-out is fine.
Your own small bathroom is available (with toilet and sink - hot water). Fresh drinking water is provided. Free Wifi access near the residence, otherwise patchy Optus and Telstra around the block. You can charge your devices at no cost.
The driveway is not suitable for large campervans. Two-wheel drive vehicles are generally fine, but care is required. There is an opportunity for an extended stay in exchange for light gardening work, by prior discussion.

Rivers Edge is 24 acres of forest on the banks of the Leven River in Gunns Plains, Tasmania. We are in our own little valley surrounded by tall forests. Preston Creek flows all year through our property and meets the large Leven River where your campsite is situated. Perfect for trout fishing, platypus watching, bird watching or catching the sun setting through the trees on the river bend. There are even the endangered black fresh water crayfish.
The site is large enough for up to 5-6 caravans for large bookings, and we only take one booking at a time, so its exclusively yours.
We are only 20km to the nearest town, Ulverstone which as everything you need.
The road is close by the campsite with easy access to find the property. No toilet facilities at the site. Sat TV is good and limited mobile reception. Telstra works best we've found.
River access over a rocky, uneven embankment as it's a natural, untouched environment, just how we and the native animals like it.
Campfires ONLY PERMITTED when fire restrictions aren't in place. You absolutely must make sure your campfire is fully extinguished before you leave.
Please check "My Trips" (in your profile) for directions once confirmed. Look for the 'Rivers Edge' sign on the entrance gate, then you know youve got the right site and not the neigbours property (which is along side mine on the river)
Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept with you at all times, no roaming dogs as the road is close by.
We love the peace and serenity here so please no unruly behaviour or parties.

When you book, you'll secure a site within one of our designated camping areas, with the freedom to choose your exact setup spot upon arrival. We offer two main areas: "The Big Paddock" (left of the road) and "The Little Paddock" (right of the road).
The Big Paddock is ideally suited for smaller campervans, tents, swags, off-road caravans, and camper trailers. Here, you can set up anywhere within its bounds; pitching your tent among the trees or along the river is perfect for a truly immersive experience. An approximately 3-acre clearing is also available by the river.
For easier access directly from the road, The Little Paddock is an excellent choice. While suitable for smaller vehicles, it's also ideal for larger caravans. This area offers approximately 5 acres of clearing right beside the river. Both paddocks are conveniently located just before the bridge and provide ample open space for outdoor activities like frisbee or cricket.
Natural Surroundings & Activities:
Leven River Camping borders the Dial Range Nature Recreation Area and a Nature Conservation Reserve. Our sites are set on lush, green, fern-filled river flats within a sometimes misty forested valley, cradled below Mt Duncan and Mt Lorymer. The surrounding area boasts popular hiking and mountain biking trails.
The Leven River itself is a highlight, offering some of the best trout fishing in North West Tasmania. You'll also find perfect spots for kayaking, along with private river beaches where you can relax, paddle, swim, or enjoy a picnic.
Access to the property is via a very scenic 4km, well-maintained gravel road that winds downhill to the base of the valley.
Important Information
No facilities are provided on-site. Guests must bring their own camping toilet (a dumping point is available in Knights Rd, West Ulverstone) and are responsible for all rubbish removal.

WildWing Retreat is a beautiful 25 acre bush block in Four Mile Creek, located within a 15 minute (1km) walk, to the local surf beach of Four Mile.
The property has been created to host retreats centred around nature immersion, movement and connection (i.e yoga, bodywork, dance, meditation, mindfuness, embodiment practices etc) and in the 'off season' it's available to host hipcampers!
The space has been designed to host large groups, so there are full facilities available to use, including 3 x compost toilets, a fully equipped communal kitchen with all plates, bowls, cups and cutlery, pots and pans, gas cookers and fresh running hot and cold water. There is also an undercover deck/hangout area, a shower block with 5 hot showers, and a wood-fired cedar barrel hot tub (refer to the extras section for hot tub use!).
There are walking tracks throughout the property, including a track that leads directly to the beach (15 min walk) and another to our on-site fresh water creek for plunging in!
We are surrounded by native wildlife and the property blooms with native Kunzea bushes, wattles, native cherries and various varieties of eucalyptus.
There is a beautiful large fresh water river and waterhole just down the road (15 minute walk, or 2 minute drive), and aside from the surf beach down the front, we are also only a 10-15 minute drive from a bunch of other beautiful and popular surf beaches on the east coast. The whole area is great for fishing, boating, surfing, bike riding, walking and short hikes.
We are a 10 minute drive from Falmouth, a 25 minute drive from the St Helens mountain bike trails, a 30 minute drive from Bicheno and Douglas Apsley National Park, a 45 minute drive from the infamous Bay of Fires and an hours drive from the Freycinet National Park.
We only open up 5 sites at a time, to ensure everyone has plenty of space and a beautiful experience on the land.

Our property runs beef and cultivates crops alongside the Ringarooma river, North East Tasmania. We often host mountain bike riders here to access the world-class trails at Derby. Nearby are many marked mountain trails, and numerous falls. Skiing is 1hr away in the winter.
Our camping site is alongside cattle grazing paddocks and the Ringarooma river, and we offer one site only, to one group at a time, so it's yours exclusively. A toilet is available nearby.
A gravel track descends to the river with a short steep bank preceding the flats. When the track reaches the river the camping site is just through the gate on the right. One gate and two wire gates may require opening on the way and these gates need to be closed again to prevent cattle from wandering. Electrical fencing is in use and alive - please be careful!
Wood for your campfire is available to purchase, $15. I can supply fresh sourdough loaves $6 also fresh eggs $3perhalf doz, and fresh cows milk most of the year $5/2L. Fly fish for trout and cook over the coals for a treat.

Ladybug camp is special. Gorgeous cleared grassy sites on the banks of Blackfish Creek. Waterfalls are amazing. Peter & Kim are so accommodating & welcoming. It hasn’t been open long but I was so impressed by the work Peter has done to improve the sites he will continue to make sure we all enjoy our stay. We loved our stay!

Quiet spot there is a road above but its not a busy road. We did not find the river very accessible (not that we tried) hubby did have a few flicks of the rod after hearing fish jumping but no luck.
Was still nice and relaxing overlooking the river and the reflections in the water, enjoyed a fire each night with the wood supplied.
Look for Richard the Rooster who nests in a tree across the river each night, he was happy to wake us up with his cock-a-doodle-dooing.
If you like a quiet spot for just you or you and some friends this is the spot for you.

We had to return to this campground before leaving Tasmania to enjoy the peace and serenity it has to offer. Such a private site to unwind and just breathe. Had fires every night and star gazing was beautiful. Peter let us top up our water tanks when we arrived. Waterfalls on the property, platypus in the creeks can’t get better than that. Can’t recommend this place enough do yourself a favour and stay here you won’t be disappointed. The best campsite we have stayed at in the bush ever!!!

We had 4 nights at the property. Great spot, private and had the block to ourselves. Great for the dogs because they could run around off lead.

This campsite is huge, creek running beside the site. This is our second time camping here, last time we saw a platypus right up close was amazing. Again another private site and would be great for a group booking. This property offers walks to see the waterfalls right on the property and to just relax and unwind. Can’t recommend this place enough you won’t be disappointed. Great hosts welcoming and nice to have a chat with, great communication and easy to find.

A beautiful, pristine piece of wilderness has been shared by Peter and Kim. The entire area looks so lovingly prepared, from providing a trolley for campers to carry items, fairy lights set up, stairs built for access to waterfalls. A platypus feeding was in the section of river right where we parked. A unique experience.

Our stay at Ladybug Camping was a truly special experience. The campsites are wonderfully secluded and private, and it’s clear that Peter and Kim have put a lot of thought and care into creating such a magical place—no doubt with a little inspiration from a special someone else in the family.
We stayed at Campsite 6, which is very generously sized and would easily accommodate multiple families camping together. We also had a look at Campsite 4, which looked equally inviting, with even a hammock offering a perfect spot to relax.
The track in is well-made and easy to navigate—again, a sign that real effort and investment has gone into making the experience smooth and enjoyable.
This Hipcamp is about as good as it gets for self-sufficient campers. A serene, magical forest setting, complete with your own creek gently bubbling nearby, makes it incredibly easy to unwind. One thing that’s probably underappreciated is how well protected the valley is from the often blustery Tassie westerly winds—if it’s windy, this is exactly where you want to be!
Peter is a fantastic host and a great communicator. Thank you—we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely love to return.

What an amazing site! No neighbours (other than a few cows in the neighbouring paddocks), amazing views, clean and tidy, perfect for us in swags/tents. In warmer weather that river looks ideal for a dip (maybe even fish?). Port-a-loo was tidy despite the rain and if you need a shower, cheap, Rotary supplied showers are 10 min down the road at Branxholm Centenary Park (card only). Can't recommend this place enough.
