Semaphore Farm is a 400-acre property with convict history, bordering the Port
Artur historic site. It is a private timber reserve and a working forest farm. We have a combination of native eucalypt forest and plantation, and we grow hay and our own beef.
We have many walking and bike trails through 150 acres of forest and pasture accessible to campers.
The campsite has spring water on tap, a hot shower, toilet, rustic camp kitchen, wood stove, gas BBQ, level sites, and a campfire when permitted. Tent sites are flexible so you can choose your own space within a 2-hectare area, while Level pad sites are limited.
The Port Arthur Historic Site and a safe swimming beach are within walking distance and Safety Cove and Remarkable Cave are only a 5-minute drive away. Longer walks, including the Three Capes tracks, are easily accessible.
Launch your boat nearby to access good fishing or fish for squid off the Port Arthur jetty.
There is plenty of wildlife to see at night and birds during the day. You might even see our resident Wedgetail Eagle!
Dog-friendly (must be under control/on a lead/contained).

Semaphore Farm offers a delightful camping experience with its beautiful location near Port Arthur. The campsite is praised for its peaceful atmosphere, lovely views, and excellent facilities, including a rustic camp kitchen and hot showers. The hosts, particularly Marian and Adriana, are noted for their friendly and informative nature, sharing the rich history of the farm. While the site is generally quiet, it can get a bit busy during holidays, which may affect privacy.
What an absolutely lovely piece of paradise! Gorgeous location surrounded by forest, close to beautiful places and heritage sites. Has a nice camp kitchen, hot shower, toilet and fantastic communal space with fire. Level pads are great with magic view down to the water. Loved the history chat and welcome by Marian. Will be staying again 👍
My 4th stay at beautiful Semaphore Farm. So relaxing and peaceful. I had a new dog and used the extensive bushwalking trails for bonding and exercise. This property is exceptional and Marion is an attentive and excellent host. Thankyou
We were at this campsite mid week in Autumn and it was very peaceful and quiet. Very close to the Port Arthur word heritage site
Host was very friendly.
Large grassed fields with a choice of pads or open field camp areas; some spaces have views to the water. Very convenient location for visiting the Port Arthur Historic and other local sites; distilleries, chocolatier and day hikes.
Great location, friendly hosts and awesome shower. Not a huge site but if you’re happy with bush style living it’s perfect for a short stay to see Port Arthur.
Good location. I bit busy for us but considering it was Easter it was expected. We Manage to get a level site but it is very steep location. Care taker very helpful and friendly great bloke. Shower was excellent .
On our second night it rained so the camp kitchen was a god send to get out of the rain which was very roomy. There was an excellent gas shower and Barry was very friendly and welcomed us on arrival and gave us our choice of where we wanted to go, he was very accommodating would definitely visit again.
Lovely camp, plenty of space and the facilities were great. The kitchen was fully equiped with utensils, pots, pants, etc. No electricity which was ok. The shower was spacious and worked perfectly.
Caretaker very helpfull and kind.
Loved it loved it. The hosts were super informative, the view was fantastic, the caretaker chatty & friendly, a great place for my dogs, lovely rustic camp kitchen and a lovely hot shower after a lot of free camps with none!
Outstanding
Mariana was such a wonderful host. We loved hearing about the history of the farm and how it was built and used by family first.
You’re an amazing business women and should be proud of your accomplishments!
It was beautiful walking down to the beach at sunset. The campsite is very basic but everything we needed.
Camping at Semaphore Farm was a very pleasant experience. Although we only stayed for one night, the instructions were clear, and everything was explained to us upon arrival. Communication was smooth and friendly overall. The camp is located in a beautiful setting and has everything you need — great facilities including a clean toilet, shower, and a cozy kitchen/common area. I definitely recommend it!
This was a great place to camp with a fantastic position. All the facilities I needed and more. I ended up staying 2 more nights than I originally planned and will stay there again if I am ever down Port Arthur.
Location to Port Aethur was fantastic.
The rustic camp kitchen was very user friendly. Great hot shower.
The long drop composting toilet was very welcome and it did not smell.
Plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy this lovely farm. My dog had a ball.
Marion is a marvellous host and thanks to her phone call got to see an aurora.
Would highly recommend ✨️
Right next door to Port Arthur Historal site. Dog friendly. Can have a fire if you wish. Host was fantastic shared the history of the farm and surrounds. Site Manager was really lovely person. Would stay again.
The site is in a fantastic location really close to the Port Arthur historic site, a stunning little beach and the Nubeenna shops for groceries etc.
The large rustic camp kitchen/shelter area would get alot of use in bad weather and the basic toilet and shower facilities make it accessible to campers who aren't self contained.
It's set on a rolling green hillside with a number of spacious level terraces carved into the hill to camp on. When it's quiet the spot is lovely but the terraces are quite close together so when the site reaches the advertised capacity (or more when we were there) it tends to squish people together a bit too closely. Despite the overall site being so large the slope of the hill doesn't allow people to realistically use much of the area other than the terraces to spread out.
All in all a great spot, and with the bonus of being dog friendly, but just be prepared to have neighbours.
This is a great spot to explore Port Arthur and surrounds. A
Little steepish but level pads and a lovely big grassed area at the bottom.
Amenities are good and clean.
Adriana is a lovely person who has great stories of her families beginnings and the history behind this property.
