Russell Falls Cottages at the entrance to Mt Field National Park offer self-contained, self-catering accommodation suitable for couples and families. Four spacious cottages – each set a comfortable distance apart on a beautiful piece of paradise . Also offering Unique warm Camping Pods with single, Queen and King beds. Camping sites also available. The property is surrounded by the Tyenna River and has an abundant of wildlife such as pademelons, possums, platypus, , Quolls, bandicoots, Eagles and other wildlife are frequently seen especially our resident echidna who wonders happily around the property. A footbridge across the river leads directly to Mount Field National Park, with the National Park Visitor’s Centre and the famous Russell Falls Waterfalls just meters away. The path passes through temperate tree fern rainforest, populated by glow worms. A minimum three nights stay is recommended as this area has so much to offer- Mt Fields walks and water falls- Junee caves- styx valley and land of the Giants- Strathgordon dam-creepy crawly walk-Lake Dobson- Rail track ride- Maydena adventure hub- Tassie bound adventures and you will need time to relax and enjoy Russell Falls cottages and the peaceful river, rain forest and birdlife.

The Possum Camping Pod 3 is a unique camping experience. It is a 4 by 4 meter fully insulated wooden pod with a 1 meter under cover deck. Inside bed configuration is a Queen bed as well as a bunk bed. Queen Bed is fitted with electric blanket, fresh linen with a winter rated doona. Towels plates bowel cups cutlery is supplied. Provided with the nightly costing is a power supply pack that will power up your electric blanket, lights for 6 to 8 hours so best to be conservative with power used as battery not charged again till 10am. No heater provided but well insulated. In paddock area are picnic tables where you can quietly watch the river for the resident platypus and trout's or enjoy seeing the Eagles flying above you or share your space with the many possums and padymelons. Fire pits are available and wood can be purchased, please advise upon booking. A short walk to the amenity block which consists of x4 very large shared bathrooms with showers, sinks, bench chair and toilet. Toilet paper is provided . There is a laundry with speed queen washing and drying equipment which is coin operated, as no reception atm please remember to bring your own gold coins and laundry powder.

Please drive very slowly as it is a camp site with persons walking freely. Located on the right side of your door you will find your key safe. Key code is 0111 Please leave key if key safe at check -out There is a red switch on the wooden box seat, turn that you will hear a beeping, that is your power turning on, it is solar powered so please use power sparingly otherwise power will run out throughout the night and charged each morning if the cables are connected do not remove. Turn off the red switch when checking out. You have access to all the bathrooms and laundry - with kettle, fridge, microwave, toaster. Please do not remove keys from the amenity block doors- leave key in door and lock from inside (It is a shared area) Please try to bring your own laundry detergent and gold coins for washer and dryer otherwise please ask our food van operator for coins and washing powder. A unique accommodation experience. The Wombat Glamping Pod 2 is a 4 by 4 meter insulated warm cozy camping pod with a 1 meter under cover deck. Inside bed configuration is a Queen bed as well as a bunk bed. Beds are fitted with electric blankets ( in colder months), Beds a all made up with fresh linen and a winter rated doona , A towel is supplied. Although pods are off grid they are fitted out with a 400amp battery that if used conservatory will operate lights and electric blanket for 6 to 8 hours so must be used wisely as packs are recharged each morning at 10am. Outside of your camping Pod you will have your own picnic table to enjoy seeing the Eagles flying above you or share your space with the many possums and padymelons. A short walk up the paddock is your amenity block which consists of x4 very large private bathrooms with showers, sinks, bench chair and toilet. Toilet paper is provided . Cottage 1 (Echidna)
Wonderful place to stay! Exceptional scenery, feelings of serenity and relaxation. Cottage decked out with perfect kitchen needs and tools to make your stay in easy. Would recommend if going to spend a few days around Styx, Mt Field & Russell Falls. Day and night time walks! Check in at Visitor Centre for advice before each day for insider info on roads to take and get your curiosity companion!(and coffee!), also has EV charging so very useful.

The camping area borders a beautiful stream - we ate breakfast at the picnic table next to it. Another camper told us they had seen platypus in that stream! The Mount Field National Park entrance is right across from Reception - you could walk from your campsite up to Russell Falls. Vicky has added amenities like fire pits and a shelter with BBQ's. The toilets and showers were clean and spacious. There is even a small kitchenette and laundry. Vicky was nice and accommodating when we came a bit later than expected. A lovely place to camp!

Great location with respect to being at the entrance to Mt Field NP. I was up early, so wandered into Russell Falls with a cup of tea, and didn’t see a soul! Definitely on the expensive side, but taking location into account, fair enough. Bathroom ammenities very spacious, and considering how busy the campsite was over the long weekend, they did a good job keeping them clean. As a tent camper, it was great having the ‘laundry’ set up for washing up, meaning I didn’t have to book water. Food van looked good value, but didn’t get a chance to try it out.

One of the best places I’ve stayed at in Tasmania so far,👍🏻. Well priced, coffee cart, a toilet /shower facilities just great. Nice open lawn area for games, very large site areas on the river. Can’t fault it.

We appreciated your facilities such as fridge, washing up station and clean bbqs. We enjoyed the many picnic tables around the campsite- shade or sun and often right by the river. Glorious. We stayed here for 2 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. The sites were large with pristine garden areas and the bathrooms were new and clean. This Hipcamp is right on the river and immediately next door to Russell Falls. We walked there to look for glow worms as it got dark. There was a food truck at the front and firepits provided throughout the park. Highly recommended and will definitely be back.

The positives; Location is great and only a short walk from the national park and cafe. There’s a good food trailer on-site also open to 8pm serving coffee, pies and chips etc. toilet and shower facilities almost brand new and free and the managers were helpful on check-in. Site is clean and well maintained. The negatives; We booked a site that indicated power was available however there were only two power outlets on site located next to the toilet/shower block and impossible to connect to. Other sites closer were touted as power being provided, however again there’s only two power outlets and several extension cords were needed to access power for those that did. The description of power being available at the site we booked was incorrect and inaccurate. Also whilst it was indicated our dog was allowed to stay on site, there’s a discrepancy between booking sites as the direct booking site indicates no pets allowed (as informed by the people occupying the site next to us).

I stayed for 2 nights in my tent. Conveniently located close to Mt Field National Park, it was a great base for exploring. Really nice to have hot showers, flushing toilets and an outlet to charge electronics. The aquaculture place next door made a bit of a humming noise, but I found that it was pleasant background white noise rather than annoying. Staff were friendly and good with directions.

The campsite was great (better than it looks in the photos) and very close to the river. A water tap and camping tables with some shade were near the sites. The toilets were premium quality, very clean, and a great size. The campgrounds are within walking distance of the national park, which makes it easy to walk a different trek every day. I highly recommend it.

We stayed at a powered site. Location is beautiful - quite, in nature, not crowded. The national park and it's hikes are within 5-15mins of drive. Facilities are excellent - warm showers, huge common bathroom/toilets, kitchen with fridge, 2 big BBQs for common use and it was never busy. Service is phenomenal - Dan and Kay were amazing. They were helpful in relocating us when our Tesla wouldn't charge, lend us some pillows, and were just super nice in everyway. We were booked to stay for 2 of the 5 nights in Tasmania and ended up extending the stay for the entire time. It was that good!
