Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Rivers Edge is 24 acres of forest on the banks of the Leven River in Gunns Plains, Tasmania. We are in our own little valley surrounded by tall forests. Preston Creek flows all year through our property and meets the large Leven River where your campsite is situated. Perfect for trout fishing, platypus watching, bird watching or catching the sun setting through the trees on the river bend. There are even the endangered black fresh water crayfish. The site is large enough for up to 5-6 caravans for large bookings, and we only take one booking at a time, so its exclusively yours. We are only 20km to the nearest town, Ulverstone which as everything you need. The road is close by the campsite with easy access to find the property. No toilet facilities at the site. Sat TV is good and limited mobile reception. Telstra works best we've found. River access over a rocky, uneven embankment as it's a natural, untouched environment, just how we and the native animals like it. Campfires ONLY PERMITTED when fire restrictions aren't in place. You absolutely must make sure your campfire is fully extinguished before you leave. Please check "My Trips" (in your profile) for directions once confirmed. Look for the 'Rivers Edge' sign on the entrance gate, then you know youve got the right site and not the neigbours property (which is along side mine on the river) Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept with you at all times, no roaming dogs as the road is close by. We love the peace and serenity here so please no unruly behaviour or parties.Welcome to your own beautiful riverfront camp. Wild and rocky natural river edge, great for climbing over rocks; you'll loose hours just beach-combing, fishing (ultimate fishing spot..) or kayaking (tip: wear wetsuit booties) Your spot is on the river side with own access gate, (we live across the road) close to the road which is lightly screened by trees, easy access on gravel crossover. Area is a wild grassed paddock (not manicured and has weeds) with small trees, gently slopes down with access to the river. Spotted with young Blackwood and wattle trees. Great views on the river bend watching the sun set down the river valley though the tall forest. Platypus spotting dawn/dusk. Perfect trout fishing, canoeing and swimming spot. Watch the kayaks sweep past when the conditions are sweet. Fire pit available to use in season when there's no fire-ban. The entire few acres on the river banks are divided between our property and the neighbours. There is a wire fence dividing so make sure you set up on the right property! Look for the gate off the road with "Rivers Edge" sign on it. Camping/RV/caravans ONLY, no toilets on site- but public toilets are 2km down road. 20km to Ulverstone which has great cafes, pubs supermarkets etc. And just down the road is Wings Wildlife park (great cafe) and the awesome Gunns Plains Caves, both worth a visit.

Rivers Edge
Nice and peaceful listening to the river at night. Grass was really short and ground was flat. Kids and I loved it and will definitely be back

Rivers Edge
Great spot on the river. Lovely swimming. Andrew was very helpful and kind. We had neighbours next door camping but they were really quiet and nice. Didn't want to leave! Lawn mowed and low, no issues at all. Camp fire spot in place and great having the option to purchase firewood in advance. Thanks Andrew

Rivers Edge
Beautiful riverside site.
A beautiful peice of land next to running rapids. Andrew was a perfect host, delivering us the ordered firewood and making us feel welcomed and comfortable at the freshly mowed site. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Oh and even saw a resident platypus! Well positioned to visit the nearby caves and wildlife park and plenty of fly fishing opportunities. Highly recommend to others.
