We have a small creek that runs beside the property if you want to cool off however Lake Barambah and Kinbombi Falls are close by swimming areas.

Creekside Camp (our main camping area)
is relatively flat, well drained sites along a creek that usually runs. This area offers multiple composting toilets and wood powered hot water bush shower and outdoor bath. There is also a large permanent deep waterhole a short distance from this camping area.
We have temporarily paused out Hill camp sites, due to continuing property maintenance and improvements. The Hilltop on our place is a lovely spot to watch the sunset with a glass of your favorite beverage, and even if you are camped at Creekside, you are welcome to walk or drive up to hilltop. Just remember we are a working property, so leave gates as you find them.
Our property is an easy drive from wineries, large dams, Bunya Mountains, art galleries, state forests, mountain bike tracks, and scenic Kingaroy. We are dog friendly as long as dogs are not aggressive and well controlled.

The creek has ample room for fishing, swimming and even kayaking (season dependant). Take a walk along the creek and appreciate being outdoors.
We have many attractions within our area. Coming up on the last Sunday of May is the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival, it is always a great weekend for all. There are many wineries in the area to wine & dine, Boat Mountain has some great bushwalks & lookouts and the Kilkivan to Kingaroy Rail Trail is great for those who enjoy a bike ride. Recently opened in Murgon is the fossil museum & fine art gallery, 55 Million Years Ago. On the website a quote states, “In the late 1980’s, fossils found near Boat Mountain just outside Murgon in Southern Queensland rocked the palaeontology world. 15 new fossil species discovered here were found to be 55 million years old, predating any other Eocene period fossils found in Australia by 20 million years.” Suited to all, make a day of it and visit 55 Million Years Ago in the morning, enjoy lunch at a local winery before heading to Boat Mountain to see where they found the fossils and enjoy the sunset.
We are a busy working property and horse training facility. Our business consists of backgrounding cattle, growing and irrigating of cattle feed and lucerne, as well as making hay. Our son owners and operates a horse training business on our property.

The owners of the property (Cyndi and Peter) bought in 1986 and have built their home from the local stone and timber.

Our property is located on the site of the First Kilkivan Township and was home to a gold rush in 1868 where a 73 oz nugget was discovered.
Guests will have access to a portable toilet and fire pit throughout their stay.
Gold is still found in and around the creek with fossicking permitted at an extra daily rate of $25 per person. As this is private property we require that all the QLD Fossicking Act rules and regulations are followed this includes having your own permit which must be supplied before fossicking is permitted. These rules include no machinery or pump operated sluices such as high banking sluices.
Detectors are welcome and some great finds have been found with them including gold and coins from the 1860’s.
Large groups are welcome.
There are many great shaded camping spots along the creek or a large open area of about 50 acres for larger groups. There is also a year round swimming hole fed by a solar bore on the property for anyone wanting to cool down.
Kids under 12 are free but if fossicking must be covered by a permit. Pets are welcome.

If you are looking to get away, put your feet up, switch off and recharge, then this is your perfect spot to enjoy the serenity of farm life with the added mountain views. We have potable bore water, electricity connection, picnic table and bench and firepit. We have two powered caravan sites that can also double up as tent sites. Ideally you should be self sufficient.
Our bore has a solar pump that is rigged up to the water tank at the camp kitchen. Please turn the tap off once you have finished filling up your containers or caravan tanks. Bore water is potable, so can be used for cooking, cleaning, pets, etc.
Any cooking implements and tools that you might need during your stay can be provided at request. Dogs are welcome, just please be mindful of our neighbours. We have a calf and older cow that you are welcome to help us feed.
We are also providing special deals on yoga, tai chi, breath work and meditation classes and we have access to the creek in the summer. We have a beautiful forest across the road, which is perfect for walks, trekking or meditation.
Please ensure that you are mindful of our neighbours, kindly refrain from loud noises between 9pm and 7am and clean up after yourselves and take your rubbish with you, as we don't have garbage collection at the property. There is a dump point in town, with garbage bins, for your convenience.
Nanango has a lovely vibe. It's Queensland's oldest and friendliest town. There are great playgrounds, swimming pool and cart racing in town, which is only about 10 minutes away from the farm. Kingaroy is about half an hour away. There is a great off roading spot in the forest that is literally up the road from us.

The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve.
We have different camp options available, one of which is set up for those guests also wanting to stay with horses or just have a larger group booking.
Guests will have access to a toilet and shower throughout their stay which is within walking distance from each of the campsites. Campfires and pets are welcome.
The property has only had 4 farming owners in its 110 odd years since it was first surveyed and selected in 1915. The Hillcoats, Bishops, Cotters, and now the Cooke’s. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping.
The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property.
The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic
Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day.
There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. Red-back wrens, pardalotes, rainbow bee-eaters, finches and quail call the open grasses home while whip birds give their iconic call in the forest. Above, birds of prey ride the thermals of the valley looking for their next meal.

There's 1,375 acres of land - the boundaries of our property are the ridges of the mountains that encircle us, and many rare species abound here.
This is a dog and horse friendly property but no pets allowed in the cabin. There is paralysis tick in this region - so we'd recommend treating any animal before you come and frequent checks while you're here.
No mobile phone coverage at the cabin, but there is a hill you can drive (or walk) up on the property to get phone signal if needed and we have a landline phone in our house which can be used in emergencies.

I have access to the rail trail via private property, or otherwise you can utilise Staines Road to get into Benarkin State Forestry or the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.
Dogs are also welcome who are well behaved and on a leash if others have horses with them. Please note that you MUST ensure your dog has tick prevention prior to arrival. Bookings require pre approval please. This is non negotiable to prepare for your stay.

Our venue and campgrounds are situated at the old Jimna State School property. The school closed in 2009 with the last students attending in 2006. It was then sold by the Qld government and has been rezoned as a Camping, Recreation and Events Venue. We have retained all the old school facilities for our campers to enjoy. There is a children’s playground and multi-purpose tennis court for everyone to enjoy. We provide tennis rackets, balls and basketballs free of charge to our campers. There is also no charge or fee to use the court. On most Sundays afternoons (weather permitting), we have social tennis where everyone is welcome to join in.
The old school toilet blocks have the addition of hot showers and all toilet facilities are the flushing type.
Campfires are permitted and there are small mobile fire pits provided so wherever you set up camp you can have your campfire right beside you.
Note: There are no ground fires permitted and at certain times of the year Qld Rural Fire brigade may enforce a total fire ban.
We have our “Caffeine Injection” kiosk on-site for the weekends and school holidays. Get your morning caffeine fix as well as bagged ice, firewood, ice creams, snacks, cold drinks etc etc

We have many attractions within our area. Coming up on the last Sunday of May is the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival, it is always a great weekend for all. There are many wineries in the area to wine & dine, Boat Mountain has some great bushwalks & lookouts and the Kilkivan to Kingaroy Rail Trail is great for those who enjoy a bike ride. Recently opened in Murgon is the fossil museum & fine art gallery, 55 Million Years Ago. On the website a quote states, “In the late 1980’s, fossils found near Boat Mountain just outside Murgon in Southern Queensland rocked the palaeontology world. 15 new fossil species discovered here were found to be 55 million years old, predating any other Eocene period fossils found in Australia by 20 million years.” Suited to all, make a day of it and visit 55 Million Years Ago in the morning, enjoy lunch at a local winery before heading to Boat Mountain to see where they found the fossils and enjoy the sunset.

Our property is located on the site of the First Kilkivan Township and was home to a gold rush in 1868 where a 73 oz nugget was discovered.
Guests will have access to a portable toilet and fire pit throughout their stay.
Gold is still found in and around the creek with fossicking permitted at an extra daily rate of $25 per person. As this is private property we require that all the QLD Fossicking Act rules and regulations are followed this includes having your own permit which must be supplied before fossicking is permitted. These rules include no machinery or pump operated sluices such as high banking sluices.
Detectors are welcome and some great finds have been found with them including gold and coins from the 1860’s.
Large groups are welcome.
There are many great shaded camping spots along the creek or a large open area of about 50 acres for larger groups. There is also a year round swimming hole fed by a solar bore on the property for anyone wanting to cool down.

If you are looking to get away, put your feet up, switch off and recharge, then this is your perfect spot to enjoy the serenity of farm life with the added mountain views. We have potable bore water, electricity connection, picnic table and bench and firepit. We have two powered caravan sites that can also double up as tent sites. Ideally you should be self sufficient.
Our bore has a solar pump that is rigged up to the water tank at the camp kitchen. Please turn the tap off once you have finished filling up your containers or caravan tanks. Bore water is potable, so can be used for cooking, cleaning, pets, etc.
Any cooking implements and tools that you might need during your stay can be provided at request. Dogs are welcome, just please be mindful of our neighbours. We have a calf and older cow that you are welcome to help us feed.
We are also providing special deals on yoga, tai chi, breath work and meditation classes and we have access to the creek in the summer. We have a beautiful forest across the road, which is perfect for walks, trekking or meditation.
Please ensure that you are mindful of our neighbours, kindly refrain from loud noises between 9pm and 7am and clean up after yourselves and take your rubbish with you, as we don't have garbage collection at the property. There is a dump point in town, with garbage bins, for your convenience.
Nanango has a lovely vibe. It's Queensland's oldest and friendliest town. There are great playgrounds, swimming pool and cart racing in town, which is only about 10 minutes away from the farm. Kingaroy is about half an hour away. There is a great off roading spot in the forest that is literally up the road from us.

Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. Guests will have access to a toilet and shower throughout their stay which is within walking distance from each of the campsites. Campfires and pets are welcome.
The property has only had 4 farming owners in its 110 odd years since it was first surveyed and selected in 1915. The Hillcoats, Bishops, Cotters, and now the Cooke’s. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping.
The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property.
The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic
Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day.
There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. Red-back wrens, pardalotes, rainbow bee-eaters, finches and quail call the open grasses home while whip birds give their iconic call in the forest. Above, birds of prey ride the thermals of the valley looking for their next meal.

Our venue and campgrounds are situated at the old Jimna State School property. The school closed in 2009 with the last students attending in 2006. It was then sold by the Qld government and has been rezoned as a Camping, Recreation and Events Venue. We have retained all the old school facilities for our campers to enjoy. There is a children’s playground and multi-purpose tennis court for everyone to enjoy. We provide tennis rackets, balls and basketballs free of charge to our campers. There is also no charge or fee to use the court. On most Sundays afternoons (weather permitting), we have social tennis where everyone is welcome to join in.
The old school toilet blocks have the addition of hot showers and all toilet facilities are the flushing type.
Campfires are permitted and there are small mobile fire pits provided so wherever you set up camp you can have your campfire right beside you.
Note: There are no ground fires permitted and at certain times of the year Qld Rural Fire brigade may enforce a total fire ban.

Stayed at the Rydges site this time and it was still a great view! Not as good as Valley Views but still great. Cows were there to welcome us and would wander past in the afternoon. This site gets a bit of highway noise but did not concern us at all as was just background noise. Laura is an excellent host as always!

Valley View was a peaceful campsite for me and my two active dogs. Great views to the North, South and West and perfect screening trees to the East. Superb opportunities for sunrise and sunset photos as well as a nice dark sky for astrophotography. Laura, was excellent with her communications and Neil was very welcoming and good for a chat. We will happily return.

We absolutely love Windmill Hollow. We have been countless times and will continue to come back. Jason is an amazing host and he keeps the sites in pristine condition. Beautiful luscious grass that is always nicely mown. Sites are really private and massive. This is a hipcamp well worth checking out.

Nev has an absolutely fantastic property and is a very nice and genuine guy. Highly recommend checking this place out, even if you're not forsaking or prospecting. Each camp stop seems to have it's own bio-toilet, which is also super awesome for some fussy campers :) In regards to gold, we tried, but didn't find anything unfortunately. It was still fun!

We stayed at the Big Fig site at Hopevale for 4 nights and had a really nice, peaceful stay. Jason is a great host, friendly and easy to deal with and the site itself felt private and quiet which we really appreciated. There was heaps of wildlife around too, lots of wallabies, cows wandering past, plenty of birds and we even spotted a snake on our last night which made things interesting. It was a bit disappointing that we couldn’t swim in the dam but we chose to do the hike out to the hidden cave instead and honestly that ended up being more fun and a great little adventure. Overall it’s a lovely spot if you’re after some time in nature and a quiet place to switch off. We really enjoyed our stay.

Amazing place, water was nice and cold to swim in. We got to feed the cows and explore the forest. Found a butterfly field. The host was kind and friendly, he gave us plenty of wood for the fire. Didn't end up finding gold but found a lot of different gems ! We had a blast and definitely will be coming back thank you so much for the experience!

had a very lovely stay at Mountain View.
hike to the cave was a fair bit harder than expected and reception took a further drive out than we had assumed, other than that the campsite was absolutely beautiful and well maintained, extremely peaceful setting with lots of fun to be had and wonderful sights to see. shame the swimming hole was out of season, but the next one in town was close-by enough and so much fun it wasn’t at all an issue!

Lots of space and camping options to give each camping party privacy. Portaloo's clean and well maintained.
Host called morning of arrival to give detailed road directions.
The dogs enjoyed exploring creeks bed (unfortunately no water this time) However there is a permanent pond with spring fed water for swimming.
Quite a number of areas of interest in the area to explore.

We loved our stay at Steve's place. Stayed on a long weekend everyone was well spaced out. Enjoy a camp fire and a swim in the river. Daisy our Cavoodle had a lovely stay as well
