I had a great stay with Dean at Hartleys Creek Retreat! One of the unique aspects of the property is that there are a few people who live on-site permanently, which really adds to the welcoming and communal atmosphere. It was nice knowing there was always someone around for a chat or to lend a hand if needed. The setting felt safe and friendly, and the locals gave the place a warm, lived-in vibe that made the experience even more memorable. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a relaxed and social camping spot!

Lovely peaceful farmstay surrounded by cows and chooks, and it was so good to hear roosters crowing in the morning. Not to mention fresh laid eggs! The weather didn't allow us to have a campfire unfortunately - maybe next time. A nice short drive from Cairns with plenty of contact pre-visit.

Weekend Trip to Mowbray Valley Homestead

I loved camping here as I had a spot about 3 meters from the rainforest. So relaxing to sit there and listen to the birds. There is a National Park next door, I think the walking trail is called the Bump but I have a dog so didn’t go up there. Padhraic is lovely guy, very friendly and he also fixed my trailer brakes for me which really came in handy today with some of the descents on the road from Cape Tribulation to Bloomfield. We camped at Pandanus which was a large, partly shaded site. Access is via a shorter, 4WD track, or the chicken track around the dam. There are no facilities so self sufficiency is a must. We had a lovely time; fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, petting cute animals, but most of all relaxing. The night sky is unbelievable.

We loved waterside campsite as the view of the dam was lovely. It was a great site to introduce kayaking to the children. They loved the animal feeding and wanted to take home the baby goats and chickens. Kirsty and her parents were helpful and friendly. We can't wait to come back to stay again.

We had a great time at Tropical Woopen Creek Camping, the camp area is huge with a creek wrapping around it. Heaps of room for the kids to play frisbee and cricket and only an hour from Cairns. There is even a toilet to use. We will definitely be back!! Thank you Larry and Miyuki!!!

We loved our camping spot just in front of the creek! The creek was flowing so was beautiful to go to the sound of the water flowing over the rocks! It was so peaceful and quiet with just sounds of nature!Beautifully mowed large grassy area- very well maintained spot and we enjoyed our campfire every night. Barron River Getaway at Kuranda

We are agile wallaby carers, with the rescued joeys being released back into the forest from here. Highland Views

Bring your tent, car, caravan or motor home...... there is plenty of room! Highland Views is located in a sleepy little rural area at the end of a road, so there is no through traffic and quite private. There is an abundance of wild life wandering through from the rainforest to the neighboring cattle property including a huge range of birds, numerous wallaby's, and the occasional cassowary. I do have a resident cow on the property. Stewie is extremely friendly and will come to the fence for a pat and will love you even more if you feed him a slice of bread or a carrot. He has no spacial awareness though, so please don’t enter his paddock….. it is pretty scary having a 600kg “puppy” with very big horns bounding toward you wanting to play! The water is tank/bore which is fine for drinking and I am happy for you to fill your water tanks during your stay but I do ask that you use it sparingly…….. no washing of vehicles or vans please 🙏 With only 2 sites, you will absolutely not be crowded in. There are no toilet or shower facilities available so you will need to be fully self contained. This is the perfect base to explore all that the Daintree, Port Douglas and Atherton Tablelands areas have on offer. Julatten Hotel is a great spot for a cold drink and a lovely meal, with live music on the weekends. 9 Mile Store is 2km from your site and has fuel, some groceries items and takeaway food if you don’t feel like cooking. Mossman is only 18km away for most other supplies and services.

Currently, looks like the wet is over. The river has cleared up and back to near normal flow. Expect it to be great for Easter Please note, our rates are per vehicle per night ( if you have an additional vehicle, just book an additional site, this will avoid overcrowding) There is NO access to our property from Kuranda end! Visitors need to go through Mareeba A beautiful 160 acre paddock that you can enjoy. Cleared slashed areas beside the river. Enjoy a river swim to cool you down during summer and go for a cold dip during winter. River is also good for fishing during the right season. Access to river is 100 metres on graded walking track. Unless you have a ‘booster ’there is no mobile coverage or internet. {enjoy the peace and solitude} Access to the property is fourteen kilometres gravel, coming off the highway. Sites are private separated from each other. Site is 300 metres from road and provides privacy. Tents and small caravans are ideal. Not suitable for highway caravans or very large vans as the access will be too rough. There are walking areas at rear of property. Be aware tropical North Queensland has paralysis ticks and we have snakes at times and visiting pigs. Water can be supplied upon request. Power generators are permitted . There may be minimal mobile service with Telstra. Campfire will only be permitted within fire pit. All campers will need to be self contained and leave no trace behind. Checkout is generally when you feel like it. Dog friendly. Site may be closed in the wet season from December to April, once monsoonal events occur
