Stonesthrow is a 106 acre rural property in the peaceful Illinbah Valley. Nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, we are about an hour (a stones throw) from the Gold Coast or Brisbane. Over time, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses and is now a family hobby farm. We currently have three dogs, cows, horses and goats. We have goat food for purchase on site. 🐐
The Stonesthrow Bush Camping lower sites are close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property. These sites have access to facilities - toilets, a powered shed, kettle, fridge and a sink. Most of these sites are suitable for 2WDs and some sites are accessible to caravans.
The Stonesthrow Elevated sites are located higher up, with stunning views of the valley. These sites are only accessible by 4WD and require you to BYO sealed, chemical camping TOILET and ensuite tent which we sight on arrival before allowing guests access to the track. Check-in must be during daylight hours to enable safe access. Off-road camper trailers can access these sites however NO caravans.
🐾 Friendly dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead when in close proximity to the cottage and other campers.
Please note, the availability of certain sites is weather-dependent.
👣 Exploration of the property is by FOOT or bicycle only. 🚲 Vehicles are NOT permitted to drive around the property except when travelling to and from designated campsite.

Andrew Drynan Park is situated on Running Creek, 47 km south of Beaudesert and 19 km from Rathdowney on the Lions Road. The drive from Brisbane will take a couple of hours. It has an impressive backdrop formed by Mt Chinghee.

Running Creek is a lovely flowing creek which is very inviting in summer and the park offers a great bush camp.
Toilets, BBQs, picnic tables and swimming. BYO drinking water. Pets to be restrained. No showers—a dip in the creek will keep you clean but please don’t use soap or detergent.
Directions: At Rathdowney, turn left into Running Creek Rd and travel approximately 17km south east.
Campers Day Trippers Rules:
The Park is for everyone to enjoy, so please adhere to a few simple
guidelines while enjoying this beautiful park.
By using this park you agree to the following rules.
All vehicles entering the park must observe 10 Km per hour speed
limit.
Fires must be extinguished prior to departure.
Park users must clean up their area when leaving, by taking all
rubbish, including food scraps and disposable nappies with them, so
the next users can enjoy the Park as well. Do not burn your rubbish.
Generator use is restricted to 4 hours per day between the hours of
2pm to 6pm.
Dogs must be on short leads and confined to your campsite at all
times.
No music or noise after 10pm, noise level must at all times be at an acceptable level so as not to disturb other users.
No stock whips, firearms or weapons of any sort, chainsaws, drones
or fireworks allowed in the park.
No use of detergents, soaps or shampoos in creek.
No washing dishes or clothing in creek.
No hitting of Golf balls.
No cricket with cricket ball (tennis ball ok).
No swings to be tied to trees.
Anyone who is non-compliant may be directed by park management to leave the park and if so must leave without delay. Non-compliance
will be referred to local Police and you may face legal action for
trespassing.
Park management reserves the right to refuse anyone entry to and use
of the park.

We can also take you horse riding around the farm for a couple of hours or to the local winery if you prefer a longer ride. We cater for all levels of riding.
We have many panoramic campsites for you to choose from. These are suited to anyone with the swag, tent, camper, caravan, or motorhome. You must be self-sufficient, with your own toilet, and we kindly ask you take all waste when you go.
For those who prefer the comforts of home we have a bunkhouse which sleeps 10 and has electricity, water, flush toilet, shower, stove, microwave and TV.
Linen is not supplied.
If you are driving 2wd, or 4wd towing a caravan or a big trailer and GPS takes you through Mountain View Rd - do not go that way - go through Dayboro Rd.
For those without transport Dakabin train station is 25 min from the farm. Pick up and drop off to the station can be arranged. There is a wide variety of shops and restaurants less than 10 min away.

How to get to us? We have two ways in .
Option 1:
Via Flagstone onto Bushman Drive – then into Wyatt road follow to the end and turn right onto undullah road follow for 5 ks .
we approximately 14 km from the Flagstone Shopping Centre.
Please note: 10 km of this route is gravel road. 4x4 vehicle access is recommended.
Option 2:
From the Centenary Freeway roundabout, at ripley head 21 km along Ripley Road, which continues and changes name to Undullah Road.
This route is 4x4 access is recommended with some narrow bends – please drive to conditions. We do have 2 wheel drives make the journey !

There are plenty of activities to try around town, from bushwalking, exploring the Rail Trail in Murwillumbah and downhill mountain biking at the Uki Mountain Bike Park (Less then 8Km from our property).
The property is just 5km from the beautiful village of Uki. Uki is a place where community spirit hums. Village markets every Saturday selling local foods and crafts. The Old buttery offers ‘the Uki Buttery Bazaar Market’ on the 3rd Sunday of every month.
Don’t forget to pop into the Uki Trading Post (Bastion Lane) for the Best coffee in Australia. The Mt Warning Hotel situated in Uki Village also offers all meals as takeaways and a complementary curtesy bus running from Friday 5PM through to Sunday. Stock up on supplies at the village General Store.

Located approximately 12 km from Rathdowney and one and a half hours from Brisbane and the Gold Coast it provides the perfect bush camping getaway experience.
With five spacious, flat, grassy campsites and river access, guests can enjoy a refreshing swim, kayaking, and fishing (catch and release) or simply relax on the riverbank and at night enjoy a campfire under the vast night sky.
The campground is accessible by 4WD or semi-off-road vehicles only. It is not suitable for low-clearance vehicles or standard vans; if you are unsure of your setup's accessibility, please contact your host.
There are no facilities, all campers are required to be fully self-sufficient and self-contained with their own toilet and shower. All waste and rubbish must be taken with you on departure. As we are a working property, please be aware of roaming cattle.
Each site has its own fire drum, and firewood is available for purchase at the front gate. Dogs are welcome under adult supervision. They can be off-leash at your camp during the day, but must be leashed at your camp at night and whenever they are not in the immediate vicinity of your campsite.

Escape to serenity at Rainforest Gateway. Relax and unwind to the gentle murmur of the creek, go for a paddle, take a hike or simply put your feet up and enjoy a crackling campfire under a sky bursting with stars. With great views, tranquil bushland, abundant wildlife and the stunning Border Ranges National Park close by, there is always something to do.
The park is nestled alongside the everflowing Gradys Creek and features large, easily accessed, grassy powered and unpowered sites overlooking the creek. For those after more of a glamping experience, there are 3 x one bedroom cabins available. On-site amenities include hot showers, flush toilets, fully equipped camp kitchen with a large undercover area (perfect for large groups or private functions), and a laundry.
We are a dog-friendly park so the whole family is welcome. Dogs need to be controlled at all times and cleaned up after. No aggressive dogs please.
Campfires are permitted in designated fire pits only and may be subject to fire bans. Firewood and ice are available for purchase (cash preferred).
Recycling bins are provided, otherwise campers are required to take their rubbish with them. Wi-Fi and Telstra coverage are available.
Rainforest Gateway is located approximately 8klms along Grady's Creek Road, just 20 klms north of Kyogle and 15 klms from the Queensland border on the popular scenic tourist route, Lions Road. Kyogle is a bustling town with an IGA supermarket, MTB riding tracks, lovely gift shops, cinema, bowling alley, and a selection of dining outlets. For those wanting to immerse themselves in nature, the Border Ranges National Park is a short drive away.
Please note Lions Road is temporarily closed for road repairs and expected to be reopened late January 2026. We can still be reached on Gradys Creek Road off Summerland Way, ignore Google maps if it directs you to Lynches Creek Rd.

Choose from secluded creek-side sites or larger open areas ideal for groups, all surrounded by nature and filled with constant birdsong.
Exclusive use can also be arranged for larger events. Perfect for retreats.
Wander through the syntropic garden and admire the seasonal fruit, cast a line and try your luck at fishing, or—if you’re quiet and lucky—spot a platypus gliding through the water. Kayaking, abundant birdlife and bushwalks ranging from scenic trails around Mt Lion to the gentler Mt Lioness, there’s something here for every level of adventurer.

Lovely place to stay, Shayne was welcoming and friendly and the sites were lovely and spread out. The horses were one of our highlight so don't forget to take some carrots and apples to share with them. The creek was lovely and our dog loved having multiple swims. Highly recommend

We had a lovely short stay! We were close to the creek, so our son had a blast, it was very relaxing, and a nice, shady spot. Water in creek low at this time of year, but still clear and fun to paddle in. Can imagine it would be wonderful after rain! We had a campfire and enjoyed wandering along the creek.

We all enjoyed staying at Viola’s farm. Our site had a fantastic view out over Morton bay. There are also sites with amazing views of the Glasshouse mountains.
The highlight for the kids were the horses. The friendly horses passed by our camp site a few times and would come up into our camp site to see what we were doing.

I love coming to McKenzie mountain. Being that it is nice n close to Murwillumbah for any essentials then easy access to the highway to hit the coastal towns in the daytime is a huge upside. I like camping along the creek. Normally we end up near the bridge which can be quite noisy but if u dont mind it its great. Otherwise up the top at Big Fig is good or even the back paddock thats nice n secluded.

The spot we stayed at was absolutely awesome! Beautiful spot beside the river with a lovely view of the surrounding mountains.
James’ hospitality was fantastic, and he made himself available for anything we needed throughout our stay. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
A lovely experience all round, and we’d happily stay again. Highly recommend! ⭐️
