There are many wineries in the area to wine & dine, Boat Mountain has some great bushwalks & lookouts and the Kilkivan to Kingaroy Rail Trail is great for those who enjoy a bike ride. Recently opened in Murgon is the fossil museum & fine art gallery, 55 Million Years Ago. On the website a quote states, “In the late 1980’s, fossils found near Boat Mountain just outside Murgon in Southern Queensland rocked the palaeontology world. 15 new fossil species discovered here were found to be 55 million years old, predating any other Eocene period fossils found in Australia by 20 million years.” Suited to all, make a day of it and visit 55 Million Years Ago in the morning, enjoy lunch at a local winery before heading to Boat Mountain to see where they found the fossils and enjoy the sunset.

In peaceful Mount Perry is a remote paradise, I call TAKAMUNA (house on the rise).
• I have 70 acres of beautiful land which you can, bush walk, swim in the dam
and enjoy a campfire (some wood provided).
• You will need to be fully self-sufficient, there are no amenities.
• Limited access to water, no power available (generators ok within reason).
• Various sites to camp or unhitch a caravan.
The property overlooks the glorious hills and valleys with a direct view of the Back of Mount Perry so it's time to unplug and chill!
• Dogs are welcome but must remain on a lead.
• We have cattle which graze freely throughout the property.
• Your welcome to come up at feeding time (approx. 4pm) to help feed the
sheep, goats pigs and chickens. (probably the cows).
• Our front gate must be kept closed at all times, all other gates the rule is if it closed then close it after you.
• We do have surveillance around the property.
Worth knowing
• Mount Perry town is only approx. 10 minutes away.
• Very limited cell coverage, no wifi, no amenities.
• Guests must be fully self contained.
• Guest will need to take their waste with them and leave no trace.
• We ask that you do not touch any wildlife on the property.

Day trips, Bundaberg is 1.5 hours away as well as it’s beautiful surrounding beaches. There’s also beautiful nearby country towns of Gayndah, Monto, Biggenden and Eidsvold.
The Burnett River is 30min down the road at Mingo Crossing. Here you can take a boat out or just swim and picnic by the river.

You will find us about 3.5 km on the left, there is a red 40 ft container and cattle yards at the front of the property near the entrance gate.

We had a wonderful experience at Fig Tree Camp. The hosts are incredibly supportive, caring, and friendly, which made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The campsite is very clean, well-secured, and well-maintained, giving us great peace of mind throughout our stay.
The surroundings are absolutely picturesque — a beautiful natural location perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. The friendly animals around the camp added a special touch, especially for families and nature lovers.
Everything was thoughtfully organized, and you can really feel the care the hosts put into the place. This is one of the best Hipcamp stays in Queensland, and we would love to visit again without hesitation.

Thanks Dean and Tracy for a relaxing weekend. It was great to see the abundant birdlife and healthy rikali and lungfish numbers in the creek, it must be a very healthy system. We recently had a fantastic time over the three days and two nights we stayed. If you are looking for space, peace and quiet, there is plenty of it here. The drive into the property is scenic, we saw a calf being born on the way in, lots of cattle, bird life including an emu & chick and horses. There's plenty to see and do, lots of wild life all over the property. Col and Blodwen were amazing and very friendly, made us feel welcome and at ease during our stay. There is plenty of camping area for larger gatherings or multiple groups. There's a RV site also for anyone to use. The directions to the property were easy to understand and if you have questions they are eager to help out. We missed the rain to get the creeks flowing but it didn't disappoint. We will be going back, most definitely.
Not forgetting our two dogs got a very well deserved time away also.

I had a fabulous stay next to the billabong and creek with abundant birds and wildlife in a secluded, grassy location next to the water so my self and my dog could cool off in the heat. Tracey was an extremely friendly and helpful host who made me feel very welcome. I saw a huge lungfish, goannas and other lizards, snakes on the other side of the creek, Rakali (native water rats), a huge list of birds, including a pair of resident azure kingfishers and red backed fairy wrens. I am really looking forward to my next visit!

Range Station was a little gem - very relaxing with amazing views all around. We had the place to ourselves, but there was plenty of room to spread out. It was dry with a total fire ban when we were there, but at other times it would be a sea of green, rolling hills with fire pits, a port-a-loo and a delightful nursery / garden to explore. It’s off the beaten track so it feels like being a million miles away - perfect!

Absolutely magic spot on a beautiful part of the Burnett River. Amazing sunrise in one direction and spectacular sunset in the other. This section of river is so perfect for kayaking. The river is teaming with lung fish, birdlife, fish and we even saw platypus right at our campsite. The waterfalls downstream were a lovely surprise. Our campsite was absolute river front and bliss. We awoke to birdsong in the mornings and the nights were peaceful. 10/10
