Our sites are completely isolated from town, with views and not visible from the road. Sites are set among nearly 100 acres of a mix of open land and rainforest. Stonesthrow is a 106 acre rural property in the peaceful Illinbah Valley. Nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, we are about an hour (a stones throw) from the Gold Coast or Brisbane. Over time, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses and is now a family hobby farm. We currently have three dogs, cows, horses, goats and some friendly donkeys who love to meet new people for some pats and a carrot!
The Stonesthrow Bush Camping sites are close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property. These sites have access to facilities - toilets, a powered shed, kettle, fridge and a sink. Some sites offer 2WD access yet still facilitate the experience of camping in the bush. THESE ARE THE ONLY SITES THAT CARAVANS CAN ACCESS.
The Stonesthrow Elevated sites are located higher up, with stunning views of the valley. These sites are only accessible by capable 4WD and require you to bring your own sealed, chemical camping toilet and ensuite tent which we sight on arrival before allowing guests access to the track. Check-in must be during daylight hours to enable safe access. Off-road camper trailers can access these sites.
Friendly dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead when in close proximity to the cottage and other campers. Please note, the availability of certain sites is weather-dependent.
We are not a 4WD adventure park. Vehicles must be left at your campsite and NOT used to explore the property. Exploration of the property is welcome by foot or bicycle: 1.2 km from bottom to top.
Due to insurance considerations, no 'day visitors' are allowed unless they have an approved Hipcamp booking.
We are a Leave No Trace campground - ensure what you bring in, leaves with you.

This campsite suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower. There is access to water but no rubbish facilities are available. All rubbish has to go home with you
We have lots of wildlife in particular birds, hence dogs need to be on a leashes at all times. We are located half way between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, with the bush giving our property great privacy. There is lots of opportunity for bush walking.
Prospective campers have to get on site by daylight, as there are no dedicated spots and access could be difficult.

this was our third or maybe even fourth stay at the property, this time to celebrate a birthday and every time is amazing, we even extended our stay by a night as we just simply didn’t want to leave. the cows came to visit this trip from across the creek and as usual there’s always little wallaby’s around sunset on the move.
perfect if you’re looking for a private spot but still only 10 minutes from canungra if you’re looking for a morning coffee or toilet run. highly recommend and will be back for sure

What a lovely place to camp, several camp-sites to choose from. all with fire pits. It was lovely to walk around and explore the property, cow watch and the kids enjoyed the swing and all the space to ride their bikes. The directions supplied are relevant if you drive past the house number supplied. There's no need to enter the driveway of this house. It was a great place to stay honestly.

We decided on a spontaneous camping trip for Mother’s Day weekend and stonethrow did not disappoint! Such a beautiful secluded camping spot so close to the Gold Coast. Our site was huge and had the most stunning view of the valley. There were two beautiful horses roaming the camp sites which we were able to hand feed, this was the highlight of my kids trip. There were also donkeys and goats on the property which we had the pleasure of meeting too.
The hosts were so welcoming and gave us perfect instructions on how to find our elevated camp site
There was so much space for the kids and dog to run around and a large fire pit which we had cranked to cook on and carry us into the night. If you are into star gazing then this place is for you. The stars were incredible!
We loved our stay here and wish we got to stay longer. We will be back! Thank you so much!

What a great little spot, took the kids out for one night. They loved the donkeys and goats, my daughter played ball with their dogs when ever they came past and when we went for a wander the dog was like our tour guide haha keeping the cows away from us.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Oz Sky Ranch and are already planning the next trip! We stayed in spot 23, which was great and pretty private. The views are gorgeous and the cows are very friendly!

Steve was very friendly and helpful. Great hosts. Tended to our needs when we needed it. Donkeys, dogs m, chickens and goats were friendly. Nice quiet peaceful place.

Beautiful and peaceful site, enjoyed the sound of running water over the rocks in the creek which was just a few steps from our van. Will definitely return to this little piece of paradise.

We camped with our motor home at Nobby Beach and it was a wonderful experience! The showers and bathrooms were always clean and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again!
