Town is only 9 minutes away with a fantastic park for kids and good meals at the local pub (who also serve great coffee at the front cafe in the morning). Large open flat space, surrounded by trees, with a few areas with dispersed trees, enough to give shade but not completely hide the sun. Both dams were great, the kids loved exploring, and the flat sandy “little beach” was a great hit as well. We really appreciated all the firewood! It burnt amazing too. Kangaroos visited everyday, but kept their distance from our camp. We did have little native stingless bees visit everyday, however other than those, there was barely any creepy crawlies (which always find me 😖) Definitely the place you want to go if you want to chill at the site and let the kids completely roam! Yet there is so much to do nearby! Rules Beach - awesome and not too busy beach, not patrolled though, Flat rock boat ramp - prefect for us to kayak from. So many places to kayak too. Agnes Waters - great beaches but more populated, has several stores including a great little independent camping store! As there is no public dump points in the area, the closest was out towards 1770, or Bundaberg. I did however ring the “Baffle Creek Nomad Caravan Park” and organised with them to utilise their dump point for $5. Don’t forget to bring plenty of water. We didn’t find anywhere local to fill up, so did trips out to 1770 or Bundy. (We were there for 10 days, had enough for 4-5 days so needed a top up mid way)

We absolutely loved camping at Kinvara! The hosts were fabulous and so generous with their time showing our girls around the property. We had the place to ourselves and chose the hilltop site which was huge - the other two sites were also a generous size with a cracking view over the property towards the mountain. Probably one of the best Hip Camps we have stayed at.

Such a great Hipcamp spot! The drive in was absolutely beautiful, and there was heaps of space to pull up—even with a big rig. The fire pits were great for relaxing at night, and best of all, it’s super close to the stunning Waterfall Creek rock pools. Highly recommend!

This is a nice secluded and quite bush site. We were the only ones there with another family we were travelling with. Several types of "rustic" fire pits available, which was handy for the cold night we had. It would be interesting to see how much water is in the nearby creek after a bit of rain. We highly recommend Utopia Falls, which is a 1.3km one way walk from the falls carpark. The water was running enough at the falls for it to be crystal clear. A very "refreshing" temperature at this time of year 😁

100 secluded acres located on the Gregory River approximately 15 minutes from Buxton township. The property is nestled amongst thousands of acres of national park for bush walkers an explorers. Guests need to be fully self contained and no toilets are on site. Access to the Gregory river enables fishing from the bank and a spot to place a crab pot to secure a local feed of fish or mud crab. There is also the option to put a kayak into the river from the bank. Campsites are located approximately 100m from the river bank so only a short walk to the water. Despite there being some snags, I have caught some very decent fish and crabs all from the property. For those wanting to spend a day on the water, I can guide guests in my boat to help land one of the many metre barramundi that call the river home. There are approximately 15 native beehives on the property and I am happy to show guests inside some hives as well as how to locate some in the wild for the interested bushwalkers and nature lovers. The property does not have power, water or toilets so please plan ahead. Significant rainfall can also make accessibility an issue along the 1km driveway so I would recommend a 4 wheel drive, however if it is dry a 2WD would be fine.

Confirming there are no water connections to these sites, please fill your tanks prior to coming, however; fresh water is available for drinking. Select Powered. In addition there are 7 large family sized unpowered sites with a firepit available for each, overlooking the river flats - Septic flushing toilets, Shower room (solar bag not supplied), Drinking water, Camp kitchen area, Firepits - bring your own wood or purchase from the owners (please do not source firewood from the roadside due to animal habitats). Hot showers are available near the dam camping area for a small fee. There is no option to add power here. Strictly unpowered. Bring your kayaks, stand up paddle boards and other floating devices to enjoy in the dam, Push Bikes to ride the trails, bat and ball for a friendly game of cricket and a banana lounge to enjoy the peace and quiet. It's totally safe. Purchased in 1988 as a block of Bush, the majority of clearing was initially done with a small Massey Ferguson Te20 a long length of chain a shovel and chainsaw.Built originally with nothing more than the chainsaw, shovel, hammer and nails the log cabin that I still live in has undergone a few changes over the years but we have tried to keep it looking the same on the outside made mostly from large hardwood posts and paperbark slabs and half rounds for walls concrete floor with sunken lounge room. The hand built rock chimney is the feature piece of the front of the cabin so be sure to check it out and get a few pics.
