Our sites are completely isolated from town, with views and not visible from the road. Sites are set among nearly 100 acres of a mix of open land and rainforest. Stonesthrow is a 106 acre rural property in the peaceful Illinbah Valley. Nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, we are about an hour (a stones throw) from the Gold Coast or Brisbane. Over time, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses and is now a family hobby farm. We currently have three dogs, cows, horses and goats. We have goat food for purchase on site. 🐐
The Stonesthrow Bush Camping lower sites are close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property. These sites have access to facilities - toilets, a powered shed, kettle, fridge and a sink. Most of these sites are suitable for 2WDs and some sites are accessible to caravans.
The Stonesthrow Elevated sites are located higher up, with stunning views of the valley. These sites are only accessible by 4WD and require you to BYO sealed, chemical camping TOILET and ensuite tent which we sight on arrival before allowing guests access to the track. Check-in must be during daylight hours to enable safe access. Off-road camper trailers can access these sites however NO caravans.
🐾 Friendly dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead when in close proximity to the cottage and other campers.

Welcome to The Grove!We are located one hour from Brisbane, one hour from the Gold Coast and 10 minutes from Beaudesert.Come camp in our secluded grove of trees over looking our beautiful lake with stunning views of Mt Tamborine. We only have one site available so campers will have plenty of space and privacy during their stay.We are a Redclaw crayfish farm and have sheep, cows, and donkeys in the paddock near the campsite. Relax around your campfire in the evenings and enjoy some excellent star gazing. We have drinking water available and Redclaw, firewood, and ice for purchase. You are welcome to swim or kayak in our lake. Campers must have their own camping toilet and take all waste with them on departure. Sorry, no pets.

We stayed here for one night and had a great stay! There was plenty of space to set up and it was a really nice, peaceful little spot. Our dog absolutely loved it also.

Beautiful campsite! Very spacious and private. Pine trees behind campsite are very pretty, with flowing river on the side and a deeper swimming hole. Some curious visitors coming to say hello in the afternoon as well. Our dog had the best time! Would definitely visit again 🌲

We had such a lovely stay here over the weekend. The property itself is absolutely beautiful — peaceful, green and surrounded by trees, with a gorgeous little creek running alongside the lower camping area.
One of the things I loved most was that there aren’t a huge number of sites in the lower campground, so everyone is nicely spread out and you don’t feel like you’re camping on top of each other. We had plenty of room for our camper, the kids’ swags and our fire area, and it still felt really private and relaxed.
Richard and Miranda were both incredibly friendly and approachable hosts. Miranda was absolutely gorgeous with my youngest, who happily spent hours playing around the property, including on the trampoline and playground. There was plenty for the kids to explore and do, which made it a great spot for a family camping weekend.
There is a composting toilet available but no showers, so just something to be aware of when planning your stay. Firewood is also available to purchase onsite which was really convenient.
There are both lower and higher camping areas. We stayed in the lower area because of our vehicle, but those with a more capable 4WD can access the higher camping area as well.
It’s also incredibly convenient from the Gold Coast and very easy to find. It felt like we’d escaped into the bush without having to spend hours travelling to get there.
Such a beautiful, relaxed little camping spot with genuinely lovely hosts. We would definitely come back.

Lisa was an amazing host. Everything is taken care of promptly. The grounds are well kept and clean amenities. Our stay was enjoyable and quiet. Anyone not following the rules is given fair warnings.

We loved camping on site 6A. It was a perfect long weekend getaway. The sunset views over the water were phenomenal and the space we had was perfect. Having the flat spot at the top of our site was great for the camper trailer and the welcome from Lisa was lovely. Looking forward to returning again soon.

Private site with large open space. Swimming hole (too cold for us in August) but the dogs enjoyed a dip after a walk up the hill. Well maintained site and fire pit provided. Bryce was welcoming and friendly, and had been very accommodating with our previous booking attempts. A great spot for bird watchers too.

We camped down next to the creek it was so peaceful and beautiful. There is power available just make sure you bring a long extension lead if you want to be next to the creek. The host was very inviting and friendly and communicated clearly. The toilet and shower were great it was really good to be able to have a hot shower before bed. There is filtered drinking water aswell. Such a beautiful place to camp and the creek is clear and great for swimming.

From the start Bryce’s communication was impeccable. Upon arrival we were greeted by Bryce and he led us down to our site for the evening. It exceeded our expectations and would recommend to anyone, couples, families or anyone just looking to get away. Will be back.

Loved this place, we stayed two nights, very peaceful and well maintained, plenty of talking birds and the occasional moo from the neighbouring cattle. Easy to find if you follow the instructions given. Can't wait to stay here in summer, with the shollow running creek behind the camp to cool off, this will be a great place to spend the day. Thanks for having us.

A nice quiet spot, neatly mowed and tended. I imagine the creek is quite nice in summer. Might be a little close to each other if the place is packed, but that wasn't the case for our trip. We would go back for sure.

Awesome Hipcamp with awesome hosts! Easy access and an amazing spot with an elevated view.
Originally I was supposed to be in the lower section but I was double booked, the hosts ended up mowing the top spot for me and it was perfect for the night. I would definitely stay here again
