There are 10 large family sized powered sites with a firepit available for each site (no water connection) situated near the dam. Access to, Hot showers (Small fee applies), Flushing toilets, Washing Machine (Small fee per load) and a Camp kitchen. The powered sites are approximately 400m from the riverbank. Confirming there are no water connections to these sites, please fill your tanks prior to coming, however; fresh water is available for drinking. Select Powered. Purchased in 1988 as a block of Bush, the majority of clearing was initially done with a small Massey Ferguson Te20 a long length of chain a shovel and chainsaw.Built originally with nothing more than the chainsaw, shovel, hammer and nails the log cabin that I still live in has undergone a few changes over the years but we have tried to keep it looking the same on the outside made mostly from large hardwood posts and paperbark slabs and half rounds for walls concrete floor with sunken lounge room. The hand built rock chimney is the feature piece of the front of the cabin so be sure to check it out and get a few pics.

Situated 45 minutes drive from Bundaberg, our 320 acre property has a small goat farm and 270 acres of bushland to explore. Take a walk through the trails or follow along the dry creek bed (seasonal). There are plenty of kangaroo, bandicoots, goannas, water dragons, koalas, and varieties of bird life to catch a glimpse of. We back on to Littabella national park where there is more to discover. There are 4WD tracks through Littabella National Park, take a half day adventure through the track to Rosedale pub for lunch and come home, making a complete circle. Trail bikes may be driven through the national park. We are close to Baffle Creek for excellent fishing. There is an annual family fishing festival in September. Or try Lake Monduran about a half hour drive where there is great fishing, kayaking and swimming. There are many state forests and national parks nearby to explore. 20 minutes to Rosedale, 30 minutes to Norval park Beach where you can 4WD during the winter months and see turtles nesting October to March, 20 minutes to Baffle Creek southern boat ramp at Winfield, or 40 minutes to Baffle Creek, 45 minutes to Bundaberg. 1 hour to Agnes Water. 2 hours to Hervey Bay. 5 hours to Brisbane. Guests are required to be fully self-contained with their own shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Campfires are welcome in the fire pit provided. Free firewood, collect as much as you need from around the property. We have a small apiary, and our happy bees enjoy the tree blossoms way up in the treetops. They do produce plenty of yummy honey, so ask if we have any available.

We had a very relaxing stay at Kolan River Retreat, from the time we arrived right through to unfortunately having to leave this spot. We met Peter at the gate and he gave us all the info we needed for our stay, Peter is a gentleman and keeps his property very well maintained. We selected our campsite and set up for 6 nights on a beautiful shaded grassy spot next to the river, we loved that we were able to wonder around our site bare feet on the grass. Being there through the week it felt as though we had the place to ourselves. The weather was quite warm while we were there but, there was a beautiful breeze blowing through that made our stay even more pleasant. Did I mention the big night sky…beautiful!

Peaceful spot with secluded sites, a friendly host who introduced us to the gorgeous cows and the stars at night were amazing! Town is only 9 minutes away with a fantastic park for kids and good meals at the local pub (who also serve great coffee at the front cafe in the morning). A great stop over for us with two little kids!

We enjoyed camping on the Kolan River Retreat. Great spot. Nice level sites and plenty of room, we could pick where we wanted to be and were not ontop of each other. The Facilities were lovely and clean. The Cows were lovely and friendly and our dogs loved the space. Hubby caught fish and boat access was good. All in all a wonderful spot to get away and see the stars at night. Fire pits provided were provided. (must have off the ground fire pits) Fire wood was only $10 a bag.

Stayed 3 nights and loved it. The sun rises directly ahead over the ocean in Spring and it's so beautiful. We took the canoe for a paddle through the mangroves which was cool. We were glad we took the gazebo though as there wasn't much shade in the spot we camped and the sun was blazing. Really nice spot though and the bird life is awesome.

Nice being a single site, undercover area and ensuite is great as can leave stuff in the area. We were in a tent and that worked well. Nice fire area, easy to find wood. Pub not far if needed. Went off looking at Bundaberg and small places in the area. Easy to find, and shown what was there. Friendly dog came to visit. No internet service, which wasnt bad.
