You have access to 100 acres of bushland or enjoy a walk along Killongbutta Road which winds its way through spectacular Wiradjuri country where ancient stone quarries, corroboree sites and a warrior’s grave have been found. Platypus, water dragons and river rats all live in the river. Be prepared to share the site with wombats who have burrowed their homes into the banks. Road access to site is suitable for 2WD in dry weather. It is a short, steep drop with two tight corners not suitable for large caravans and RVs. The site has a newly constructed long drop toilet, pets are allowed and bring your own firewood to ensure you have enough as it's becoming scarce around the site. Please take all rubbish with you. Please note: Kids under 12 are free to support young families wanting to experience the bush. Please still add them to the booking as they will not be charged. What is not allowed: shooters and trappers, illegal fishing, motor bikes, quad bikes and other noisy machines! Killongbutta Road runs off Freemantle Road and is 36 kms from Bathurst. It is 40 kilometres from Orange through Gowan Road that joins Lower Lewis Ponds Road. For your information, On the Stone is a podcast and publishing studio that produces a quarterly magazine for the Freemantle Road community. We have local history to share and can always provide information about our services. This is not a place for parties and loud noise, but if you want to get away from it all and relax in a secluded Campsite surrounded by beautiful Native Bushland or explore miles of trails, gullies, caves, Flight Springs Creek and the exquisite Bow River, take some time to camp at Hillside, which is a remote 2000 acre working cattle property situated 23km west of MERRIWA, 17 km off the Golden Highway, adjoining the Goulburn River National Park. Most sites are in secluded area's far away from each other but at busy times people may pass by some sites to access the river. There are plenty of walking trails and for the enthusiastic bushwalker, the Bow River winds its way 7km down to the Goulburn River through the National Park with its gentle flowing stream and rock pools nestled between sandstone cliffs of caves. All sites are pet friendly, but pets must be kept on leash and cleaned up after. Campfires are allowed when there are no restrictions. Cut firewood is available on request $20 lots, cash only. 4WD and High vehicles are recommended as tracks have rocky outcrops and some areas of loose sand. Some sites can be accessed by 2WD. The Bow River area is strictly 4WD (Low Range) access ONLY as it is extremely steep with loose gravel and rocky outcrops. AWD (All wheel drive) vehicles will not get back out. For all 4WD areas please let your Tyres down to 25psi to help conserve our tracks. Outback 4WD tracks are now open for campers to explore as well as Hidden Valley. All sites have toilets, but guests will need their own shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Phone Service is very limited in this area. If you email a request, sometimes it may take a few hours for us to reply. No motorbikes or chainsaws and no hunting allowed. WARNING: There are many areas of cliff edges and shear drops! Children must be supervised at all times while exploring these areas. There are also dams at or near some of the campsite areas that could be dangerous if children wander off exploring alone.

Feel free to pet our miniature goats. They are very friendly. Please ask before feeding them! Camping toilets are available for use. Local kangaroos sometimes drop by. Plenty of wildlife with kookaburras, parrots, currawongs and even a shy wombat. Mini goats are sometimes on the property as well. There are many amazing local bush walks and plenty of fascinating history and things to do. Space for one car, tent, caravan or trailer 10m x 4m wide clear flat area with easy access next to outdoor seating. For larger vehicles book site 2. 2 minute drive to cafes and shops and town centre, bus stop is 100m, train station 800m. We are conveniently close to town. Lithgow tourism centre has plenty of information and activities to do. There are scenic lookouts, climbing, canyoning, bike trails or simply relax with great eateries and historical sites. Cooking fires are permitted when there are no RFS bans in place. Note: there is no water on the property so you will need to allow enough to ensure you have completely extinguished your fire before you depart. You may collect water from the creek. It is ok to collect fallen kindling, no chain sawing of trees. Wood is provided free of charge for small fires only. If you use the kindling please play if forward and collect for the next person. There is no mains power and internet is very patchy. Bring your own Starlink mobile for easy access to the internet whilst away; perfect solution for those unable to disconnect. Starlink Mobile can be switched off when back home so you are only charged when away relaxing! Perfect! Keeps the kids busy too, if they are tired of chasing balls in the vast open areas of the campground. Unique birdlife, reptiles, kangaroos, wallabies, goannas, echidnas, wombats & spiders! This particular area was the pilgrim site for the Wiradjuri First Nation where they conducted ceremonies at the base of the Spiritual Tyan Peak. There is no other freehold land closer to the Peak. CCC is renowned as a special place for healing; powerful grounding experiences have occurred here in the past. If you want a free spirited, nature experience, there is no other campground offering privacy, exclusive camp areas with multitudes of bush climbs! As mentioned, we run quest adventures (think: clues, a map, exploring, competing against other teams for glory) - get in touch if you would like to know when the next one is, or if you would like your own private quest. Walks: -Look out for the twin cairns on the north side of the public road, about 100m before you get to the main camping area. Follow the trail to the Summit. -You can also follow the private road up the hill past the main house (turn right off the public road as if you are going to the Spring campsite, then walk past the 'no tresspassing sign' - you are not tresspassing if you are a guest!). Follow this road for a few hundred metres until you see the rocky outcrop towards your right (the 'Souther Heights'). A sign points the way to a cleft that you can ascend. Two cairns mark this spot. Follow the rocky ridge up for several hundred metres. It's a fine adventure. Runs. I'm a keen distance runner. I have a range of runs mapped out. These include a 10km loop, longer runs up to 20kms, various reps, and more. The WAF is perfect for your running group getaway.

Please note: Kids under 12 are free to support young families wanting to experience the bush. Please still add them to the booking as they will not be charged. What is not allowed: shooters and trappers, illegal fishing, motor bikes, quad bikes and other noisy machines! Killongbutta Road runs off Freemantle Road and is 36 kms from Bathurst. It is 40 kilometres from Orange through Gowan Road that joins Lower Lewis Ponds Road. There are plenty of walking trails and for the enthusiastic bushwalker, the Bow River winds its way 7km down to the Goulburn River through the National Park with its gentle flowing stream and rock pools nestled between sandstone cliffs of caves. All sites are pet friendly, but pets must be kept on leash and cleaned up after. Campfires are allowed when there are no restrictions. Cut firewood is available on request $20 lots, cash only. 4WD and High vehicles are recommended as tracks have rocky outcrops and some areas of loose sand. Some sites can be accessed by 2WD. The Bow River area is strictly 4WD (Low Range) access ONLY as it is extremely steep with loose gravel and rocky outcrops. AWD (All wheel drive) vehicles will not get back out. For all 4WD areas please let your Tyres down to 25psi to help conserve our tracks. Outback 4WD tracks are now open for campers to explore as well as Hidden Valley. All sites have toilets, but guests will need their own shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Phone Service is very limited in this area. If you email a request, sometimes it may take a few hours for us to reply. No motorbikes or chainsaws and no hunting allowed. WARNING: There are many areas of cliff edges and shear drops! Lithgow tourism centre has plenty of information and activities to do. There are scenic lookouts, climbing, canyoning, bike trails or simply relax with great eateries and historical sites. Cooking fires are permitted when there are no RFS bans in place. Note: there is no water on the property so you will need to allow enough to ensure you have completely extinguished your fire before you depart. You may collect water from the creek. It is ok to collect fallen kindling, no chain sawing of trees. Wood is provided free of charge for small fires only. If you use the kindling please play if forward and collect for the next person. If you need more wood simply message me. There is a camping toilet with toilet paper and hand sanitizer supplied. The Wollemi Art Farm is a 100 acre block surround by national park - so your only neighbours are trees and animals. We are only 2 kilometres from the stunning Dunns Swamp. We have several camping areas, which range from intimate to spacious, and can host up to 190 people - if you want to book out the whole place (weddings, parties, small festivals)! Facilities include toilets, water and shelter. It's called 'The Wollemi Art Farm' because not only do we do arty things there (like quests and Shakespeare nights), in time we shall fill the place with mysterious and beautiful works of art - constructed from the rocks and wood of the landscape itself. We have our own trails and views (see below). As mentioned, we run quest adventures (think: clues, a map, exploring, competing against other teams for glory) - get in touch if you would like to know when the next one is, or if you would like your own private quest. I've included some quest material in the photos (more on our Instagram and Youtube). There is an additonal fee for questing. Walks: -Look out for the twin cairns on the north side of the public road, about 100m before you get to the main camping area. Follow the trail to the Summit. -You can also follow the private road up the hill past the main house (turn right off the public road as if you are going to the Spring campsite, then walk past the 'no tresspassing sign' - you are not tresspassing if you are a guest!). Follow this road for a few hundred metres until you see the rocky outcrop towards your right (the 'Souther Heights'). A sign points the way to a cleft that you can ascend. Two cairns mark this spot. Follow the rocky ridge up for several hundred metres. It's a fine adventure. Runs. I'm a keen distance runner. I have a range of runs mapped out. These include a 10km loop, longer runs up to 20kms, various reps, and more. The WAF is perfect for your running group getaway.

This is the most magical camping spot! We decided to come here to trial our new tent and have decided this will be our go to camping place. We spent one night, but as we left we all talked about how it had felt like we had been there for days. The horses were am added bonus to our trip, so gentle and inquisitive. Really beautiful property with both wildlife and farm animals. The caretakers were lovely and very helpful and lots of options for activities. We did the canoeing which was on a small but very beautiful area of the river. The camping area is neat but not super private. Would be great for big groups of families as the sites are unmarked. Facilities were also really clean and well maintained.

Basic but all you need, perfect for my little van, had a fire, a bbq… great night Geoff was a hive of knowledge… if we went to all Gis paces of recommendation we would have had to stay there a month🤣😂😂

From the moment we arrived, owners Damo and Tammie made us feel so welcome — genuinely lovely people, down to earth, who clearly take pride in their property. The campsite itself is peaceful and full of charm — we loved being able to pat the friendly horses and llamas that wander around. The river is absolutely beautiful, perfect for a quiet stroll, fishing, swimming or just relaxing by the water. And I have to say — the best, most imaginative deep drop toilet we’ve ever used while camping! Clean, well set up, and surprisingly pleasant. This camp ground is also great for kids. If you’re after a relaxing stay with great hosts, stunning views, and a touch of farm life, Wattons Airstrip is a must-visit!

1 night at On the Stone River Retreat
What a truly spectacular place to just stop and sit still. Nice big grassy area to set up camp, drop toilet with a 5 star view, the sound of the birds, the gentle river rapids, everything was just magic. Directions were simple and easy to follow and Marje is a warm and wonderful host. Absolutely perfect.

Great spot, nice level ground for tents, clean showers and bathrooms, delicious pizzas from the woodfire pizza oven, and all that in a gorgeous spot surrounded by birds and nature' best. Only 3hrs drive from Sydney, the Capertee Valley is NSW's best kept secret! Steve is a fantastic host. Always making sure you have everything you need to have a great time. Loved camping here over the weekend! There were plenty of nice spots to choose from all surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. We spotted some kangaroos and wombats and got to see and hear many various species of birds. Jake was super friendly and helpful with showing us around his farm. He stopped to check up a couple times and just to have a few chats while we were walking around and while up at the spa We walked around the farm saw the cows and checked out the waterhole. Not huge, but a cute little natural pool, discovered some yabbies and tadpoles. We played with puppy ‘Rabbit’ and watched as she learnt how to work on the farm with the cows. The spa was spacious, clean and the perfect temperature. Enjoyed the amazing views from up there! We made a green tree frog friend who didn’t mind sharing the water with us too. We enjoyed our stay. Thanks Jake! Overall great experience :)

Looking for some peace and tranquility? We'd love for you to enjoy a spot in front of our creek on our 53 acre property, Brazenhead, which is surrounded by 1.3kms of the Winburndale Rivulet. Brazenhead is a 15 minute drive to the closest shops, 20 minutes into Bathurst, 30 minutes from Sofala and 1 hour from the historic Hill End. There is ample space for groups, with wide open spaces but also plenty of trees for shade. Fires are permitted in the spots provided and according to local fire restrictions. The creek is a good spot to try some gold panning, go exploring and also has some deep swimming holes for you to enjoy. Pitch your tent or pull up your camping vehicle next to our creek! You will have complete privacy, only the kangaroos and other wildlife to share your trip with. There is plenty of space for the kids to run around, kick a ball, play some cricket, or go exploring along the creek during the day. In the evenings everyone can sit and relax in the quiet in front of a campfire. We welcome only self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower. The campsite is 2WD accessible with plenty of room and flat space to camp on. Not far from our property you can find the Bridle Track, which is very well known by 4WD enthusiasts. It was originally built as the first road between Bathurst and Hill End during the gold rush era, and was given its name due to horsemen having to dismount and guide their horses by the bridle through the very narrow sections. If you visit in November you may be here for the annual Marmalade Festival, with good weather, musicians, stalls and of course jams and marmalades! No pets please.
