This listing should clearly state NO CARAVANS, it is ambiguous at best!
We have a 4WD with the necessary clearance, and so does our van - which is an off road 5.4m van. Our rear wheel to the caravan wheel was 6.5m with 500mm Aframe clearance, and we bottomed out on the roll overs and tore the caravan leveling legs off, and our underslung battery box is demolished.
We got down the ‘goat track’ called a road, but getting out was hell. We got out, but bottomed out on several of the enormous ‘roll overs’ damaging our van.
This would be fun in a 4WD with a tent - but that is all.
If you are towing absolutely anything, and someone is coming in the opposite direction, it would be impossible to reverse. It is just too steep.
I read the description, and when I clicked on the site, it gave me a ‘caravan option’, this made us assume that we would be ok.
Going in, you get to a point where there is no where to turn around, you have no choice but to go downwards, and this is what happened with us. If your really keen and towing, unhook and go for a drive and check the track first, it only about 10 minutes.
Once we reached the gate, it was ok. We have taken vans to some hairy spots before, but this was by far the worst. Do yourself a favour, do not tow a van down there.
The site at Fern Tree, also had broken glass around the fire place scattered through the glass which also made the site less attractive.
