Your camping/van area is supplied with red/bins. 2 Portaloos available at the front and back section. Dogs allowed but please let me know first. They will need to be on leash all the time and well behaved. Please pick up after them ANYWHERE they go toilet and also they must be vaccinated. No cats allowed. A campfire during permitted times is allowed but only in the fire pits. There is loads of dried kindling and small logs around the property otherwise please bring your own. All Sites have fire pits. CHILDREN are to be accompanied by an adult at all times if walking around the property. Beautiful spot to relax, with loads of wildlife and bird watching. Please use bins supplied and leave no trace. * There are 4 allocated camp sites. Two are easy(2WD & Vans/trailers) access and have the direct view through the valley. La Cascina is a small property on a hill surrounded by trees and bushland. There are two main camping areas which would suite tent and small to medium van/car camping. There is access to neighbouring bushland with nice short walks available in the area. Only 20 minutes by car to Newcastle CBD, 10 minutes by car to Redhead Beach and 5 minutes by car to Lake Macquarie. La Cascina is a great spot to stop overnight on a road trip or to get away for the weekend to relax. We have no toilets so please bring your own. The access to the property is a steep sealed driveway. Site 1 is an open site with plenty of shade. The area is flat. More suited to larger camping setups. This site is less private. There is vision of the neighbouring property and an overflow campsite 50 meters away. Site 2 is a more uneven surface area which is better for smaller vans and tents. Redhead Beach is the closest dog beach 10 minutes by car. Croudace Bay is a dog park on the lake which is 5 minutes by car. This is a family owned acreage that brings the best parts of environmental living with the benefits of being close to the coast and a city. A very long time ago it was the site of a quarry. The nature has returned and we are left with a beautiful forested acreage.

Our property contains the first road in and out of Colo - the original road is supported by hand built dry rock walls some of which are over 3 m high. Often referred to as convict built, but more likely built by freemen who were former convicts.  The property housed the load master's residence who controlled the cargo boats that docked to collect the valley’s produce. This was then transported back down the Colo River which flows into the Hawkesbury river and leads to Broken Bay following the coastline down to Old Sydney Town. The beach diagonally across the river was landed upon by members of the First Fleet’s exploratory scouting party on the lookout for quality farm land - some of which is still in production today.  Our property is on the uppermost reach of freshwater but with tidal influence. This deep water allows swimming and canoeing all year round. Our property is adjacent to the only council built canoe launching facilities on the Colo River.

Perfect spot to pitch your tent or set up your camper in the valley. Lots of sunshine and lots of shade. Easy dirt road access (6km) Some sites require/recommend 4WD -some 2WD is fine. Check with us before booking if needed. Come and take advantage of the Wollombi Valley's beautiful scenery and atmosphere. Sit and relax or get adventurous and explore the area. The historic village of Wollombi is only 25 minutes away, and has cafes, shop, museum and the Wollombi Tavern. The popular Broke and Pokolbin wine regions are a short 25-40 minute drive away in the opposite direction. Yengo National Park has some wonderful look out spots-great to drive to Finchley lookout to watch the sun set or check out Aboriginal art sites. No guarantee but...You may see wombats, kangaroos, echidnas, goanna's, kookaburras, bower birds, lyre birds, superb blue wren, gang gangs, black cockatoos and so many other native birds/creatures. (Campfires) we have 5 fire pits on some of our sites , fires are permitted during the winter months. We also have 2 x 4 star cabins which sleep 15 between them, they are listed separately on Hipcamp. However the guests from both the camp sites and the cabins have shared access to the pool and facilities. Which includes a large under cover patio area. FRIENDLY PETS welcome. Stickybush Arm is a tributary of Big Boree Creek in the Boree Valley, surrounded by Yengo National Park World Heritage Area and Yengo Conservation Area. The property is secluded and off-grid, with grassy paddocks for camping, in a tranquil bushland valley. Undulating sandstone terrain surrounds the campground and ephemeral creeks are ideal for hiking and exploring. Stickybush Arm is a Wildlife Sanctuary. Native wildlife is respected and protected. A place of connection and environmental learning. Abundant with native flora and fauna the location is ideal for the true nature lovers looking to recharge and experience caring for country. DISCOUNTS available for volunteers assisting with wildlife studies, wildlife rescue work and property maintenance. Ecological cool burns are conducted regularly, and campers are encouraged to participate assisting bushland regeneration burns, hazard reduction burning and pile burning. The property is accessible via a 30 minutes drive on dirt road through the National Park to Boree private roads. (Make sure you follow the 'Directions to Stickybush Arm" document). This was a great, spacious spot to camp! The space would fit lots of people, it was so nice and relaxing and a lovely area. Jim was very helpful and it was great to feel off grid but still be close by to town. Would definitely come back ☺️

1 night at Bunyip's Camp

Great camping spot. Just travelling through on the way to the coast and stayed there for a night. While there is not much in the way of facilities, the place is beautiful and quiet, full of bird life and not bad for stargazing ! Lisa is a lovely host and met me at the entry of the property to introduce the place and the facilities. Would stay there again.

Rolf place is amazing if you are after a few days of switching off and connecting to nature. His property has a number of places where to camp so even if there is another group booked at the same time you not all need to be in the spot. I have enjoyed listening to the birds in the morning, walking around his property, watching the local wildlife. Rolf has great instructions to get to his place- the drive through the valley is breathtaking. I will be back. Thanks Rolf for being such a great host!

A great little camp site that's not too far from the city, but far enough to make it feel like you are really out in the country. Had a very relaxing time here, and the birdsong in the morning was spectacular. A couple of great dining options in the village a short drive away as well, if that's more you thing.
