The property is located in Kulnura which is an easy 50-minute drive from Wahroongah. A cafe, general store, and service station are within a ten-minute drive. There is also a horse stud nearby.
All campers need to be self-sufficient, with their own camp toilet and we kindly ask you to take all your waste when you go.

The large lake is a feature of the property and abounds with bird life of many species. This campsite suits fully self sufficient campers with own drinking water and toilet/shower amenities. Pets are welcome by arrangement, especially your horses (please contact us to arrange holidaying with your dog or horse before booking).
In summer you may see mumma swan and her baby cygnets, as well as lots of ducklings. Drop in your paddle board or kayak for a leisurely paddle.
Take a relaxed stroll around the property and depending on the season you might spy a wylie fox or a turtle laying eggs. Deer occasionally visit and echidnas and wombats, although nocturnal animals sometimes are a precious sight. There are platypus in the creek and fish in the lake.k
Pre-booked riding lessons available. We have a state forest over the road suited to bush walking or mountain bikes. Ammo the horse who galloped out in the Sydney 2000 Olympics opening ceremony is buried here at Lakestead Farm. We love to speak about our Olympic experience.

Because we like to keep it more intimate, The property is not designed for large groups of 10 or more wanting a social gathering or party.

The Lake can be fun to swim or paddle around but all visitors must wear life vests whilst in the water.
Locally we have some great festivals to visit the Glenworth Food and Wine festival, Yarramalong valley Spring fair with Scarecrow comp, Wyong Love Lanes festival, Harvest festival, Ratmines Catalina Festival, Brisbane water Oyster Festival to name a few.

Camping toilet
At Lakestead Farm we pride ourselves on our beautiful environment. We have lots of wildlife around. We are very upset when visitors to the Farm dig holes and poo in them. Leaving toilet paper on top. This is so unfair to us and future campers on our sites.
Because this has occurred we will only allow campers with camping toilets.
In order for us to accept your request you need to confirm you have a toilet.
Don’t say yes if you don’t have one, Checks will be done, if you don’t have a portable toilet you will be asked to leave and your fees won’t be refunded.
We are sorry if this offends anyone, we love to share our property but only with people who will love and respect it.

We planted 1240 trees on our property. It’s a space where you can sit and enjoy your yoga or have a cup of tea.

We loved our stay overlooking the stunning lake, green hills and grazing horses! We loved that Sandy was so welcoming but also loved that we had so much space and peace to ourselves.
We sadly didn’t catch any bass this time but we will definitely be back to try our luck again soon!

The most beautifully manicured flat expansive grass we have ever stayed. Almost no flies or any bugs even though horses were next door and the dam was right at your campsite. It was so beautiful, peaceful and the perfect stop over given the proximity to the motorway. The only thing we would recommend is a sign for the camp so we know where to turn in from the road. There was no number and gps took us to the wrong driveway and we couldn’t find anywhere to turn around for a few kms (22ft caravan). We found it by looking closely at the map and cross referencing with a pin on Hipcamp but that’s different to the actual address. When you arrive the sign is so tiny it was hard to even read so would be super helpful for people pulling caravans on an 80km road to see where to pull in clearly. We would absolutely come back every time we travel north or south from there.

Lovely spot. The shade was perfect for the hot days. The kitchen made things much easier and was a good hideaway for the kids when we got a heavy storm with hail. The undercover seating area was helpful too, just be aware it is not weather proof. There was no water in the river unfortunately which made the hot days hard but a quick 15min drive to St Albans was perfect for a dip and a drink at the pub. Just to note - large dirt/dust area which became a mud pit with rain. Watch for low lying areas when pitching your tent as they all flooded with rain. We loved our stay and would recommend. I imagine this would be a great winter camping spot!

Lovely place, well maintained and private. Full phone reception was great to have and the frisbee golf was a bonus. I would definitely visit again, as this one is a cut above the rest.

It was such an amazing spot to go camping for the summer.
Absolute favourite part of the location was how high the quality of the grass was, just as good as a golf course.
Also we had a quick drive up to the hunter valley which was a fun day time activity to do too.
The horses were also adorable!!

Really nice spot! Sandy & Janette provided really good info on the local area. Instructions were easy to follow. The spot itself was really nice by the lake. Heaps of birds cruising about, happy horses & a friendly pup that came to say hi a couple of times. You also feel well out in the country but are still super close to shops and local attracations. We will definitely be back.
