Unwind in the seclusion of this private and safe bush camping site on the banks of the Wambuul-Macquarie River in the remote Killongbutta valley located half-way between Bathurst and Orange. It’s a place where time stands still. Enabling you to reconnect with nature as you slow down and embrace the sounds of the river, wildlife and sheoaks when they ‘whisper secrets to the wind’. Many stories and dreamings have come from this place which guarantees to inspire your imagination as an artist, writer, poet or musician. You have access to 100 acres of bushland or enjoy a walk along Killongbutta Road which winds its way through spectacular Wiradjuri country where ancient stone quarries, corroboree sites and a warrior’s grave have been found. Platypus, water dragons and river rats all live in the river. Be prepared to share the site with wombats who have burrowed their homes into the banks. Road access to site is suitable for 2WD in dry weather. It is a short, steep drop with two tight corners not suitable for large caravans and RVs. The site has a newly constructed long drop toilet, pets are allowed and firewood can be foraged around the site but best to bring your own to ensure you have enough. Please take all rubbish with you. Please note: Kids under 12 are free to support young families wanting to experience the bush. Please still add them to the booking as they will not be charged. What is not allowed: shooters and trappers, illegal fishing, motor bikes, quad bikes, chainsaws, and other noisy machines! Killongbutta Road runs off Freemantle Road and is 36 kms from Bathurst. It is 40 kilometres from Orange through Gowan Road that joins Lower Lewis Ponds Road. For your information, On the Stone is a podcast and publishing studio that produces a quarterly magazine for the Freemantle Road community. We have local history to share and can always provide information about our services. We look forward to providing exclusive access to our river site for campers who will appreciate and respect this place which is our home.

The Cowra township is 20 minutes drive and worth a visit for all your supplies. REVELSTONE MOUNTAIN offers camping with fantastic views. Plenty of space to go for a scenic hike, find spring fed dams for yabbie fishing or a quick dip in the water hole in Springvale Creek that runs through the property, lots of wildlife including kangaroos, rabbits and foxes. There are 8 designated camping areas to set up your camp. Enjoy an evening by the campfire some firewood available if you forage or bring your own however please do not cut down or use any standing trees even if they look dead as they add a nice feature to the property. This campsite is suited for campers who are self-contained, with own camping toilet/shower amenities and water supply. Pets on leashes welcome (we have lots of stock wandering about). This is a fully fenced farm all gates that are closed must be closed after entry plenty of privacy, there are over 6 k of 4 wheel drive tracks with amazing rock formations and features all through the property .Each campsite is your own private space and no neighbours. Our property is in Evans Plains, just 15km from Bathurst. We have a number of large grassy sites available with plenty of space and privacy for everyone. The property has an abundance of wildlife, with a Koala colony, Kangaroos, Wallabies, Wombats, Echidnas, Platypus (rarely seen), Parrots, Eagles, and possums for those who enjoy wildlife watching you will be spoilt for choice. Evans Plains Creek also contains alluvial gold which results in the area being very popular for gold panning. Bathurst Mt. Panorama racetrack is 15 km east of the property. The Bathurst goldfields can also be found at the mount. The rural gold mining town of Sofala (Australia's oldest surviving gold town) is 60km north on all sealed roads. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash so that they do not disturb livestock or native animals. Campfires are allowed but campers must bring their own fire pit if they would like a fire. Only fallen wood on the ground may be collected. Campers must also have their own camping toilet and take all waste/rubbish with them on departure. There are no designated campsites within the 145 hectares (360 acres) campground.

We back on to 35 square kms of national park called Dananbilla. You can see kangaroos, wallaby, wombat and if lucky akidna , goanna , lace monitor and many varieties of birds. Great cell phone service with optus and telstra but not Vodafone. Can charge your phone ,just bring your lead and power plug. Plenty of firewood for your stay from fallen dead branches. The mountain has the origional trig station for the area on top from early 1800s with beautifull views. We cater for all size vehicles. Bathurst is known for motorsports thanks to Mount Panorama, one of the world’s most famous circuits. It hosts a number of international racing events, including the Bathurst 12 Hour and the Bathurst 1000. When it's not being used for a race, the public can take a spin around the course. Visit the National Motor Racing Museum, right next to the track. The Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum boasts a Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton and the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery is home to a wonderful collection of Australian paintings and contemporary artworks. Spend the day in Bathurst by seeing many of the amazing sites including the famous Ben Chiffley Dam and spend the day on the water and even a short drive to Rockley to visit the famous pub now owned by Matt Moran. We are situated 10km out of Parkes which is home to the famous Dish and the annual Elvis Festival. Set on a gentle slope, it boasts picturesque views of the surrounding farmland, tranquil dams and lush native vegetation. Guests are offered access to stroll around our 18acre property by foot only. Vehicles are to be kept at the camp site however. Pets are allowed but must be on leash at all times. We do have a dog, chooks and guinea fowls and the nature of the property abundant wildlife may be present. Guests are welcome to enjoy a camp fire in the designated area during the winter months when the local regulations permit. The statutory Bush Fire period is from 1st October to 31st March. A chemical toilet in a rustic shed is available for your convenience.
