ABOUT Zaytuna Farm Eco Hamlet is a highly active Permaculture demonstration site and has been used to teach permaculture to countless international and local students for the past 20 years. It is at the forefront of Permaculture Design, displaying many permaculture principles, and produces an abundance of food and various yields from within its living environment. Zaytuna Farm Eco Hamlet is a family friendly farm, situated on a sixty six acre (27 hectares) property that fronts Terania Creek. The property is completely off-grid and contains 800m of creek frontage with fishing & swimming spots, and abundant wildlife ideal for bird watchers. Zaytuna Farm Eco Hamlet has recently become a community of 8 private residences that share this beautiful property. We kindly ask that campers respect the residents’ privacy, however they are always up for a friendly chat. CAMPSITE The campsite is situated on the communal grounds at the heart of Zaytuna Farm Eco Hamlet on flat lawn surrounded by bamboo and the sounds of the rainforest. We also have 10 raised camping shelters on offer, suitable for small tents for 1-2 people. Campers have close access to bathrooms built from eco-friendly shipping containers with composting toilets and warm showers; 2 fire pits, education/function centre (available for hire), a camp kitchen with fridge/freezer (no cooktop), a common sheltered area to relax with wifi. Children 7 years and under stay free. OFFERINGS: - Farm Tour by bookings (1.5hrs) - Organic free range eggs if available ($12 doz) - Seasonal organic veggie basket subject to availability - Firewood if available ($15) LOCATION: Zaytuna Farm Eco Hamlet is ideally located in the Byron Hinterland - 45mins from Ballina airport, 45mins to Byron Bay, 20mins to the vibrant Nimbin, 12mins to Whian Whian falls, 20 minutes to Nightcap National Park, and 2mins to the local general store with laundromat and petrol station. We highly recommend visiting popular The Channon Markets on 2nd Sunday of each month for live music, food and many stalls of handmade goodies at the Showgrounds for a family friendly day out! Lovely property to visit if you are interested in permaculture. We booked last minute after a booking elsewhere and this was close by. Amenities are great - there is a camp kitchen and compost toilets. We camped in the open area which was nice. The platform surrounds are a little unkempt and tired. The birdlife and location is awesome. What really made the trip was Graham and Rhema who made us feel very welcome and are a wealth of passion and knowledge. Worth a visit for that alone. There are some cultural rules around alcohol, attire and pork which many would be okay with, but might feel restricted for some campers and worth knowing in advance.

Not as expected. The facilities were grotty and the whole place felt a bit bleak. The platforms were fine but two were out of commission because they were structurally unsound (one had collapsed) ensure yours doesn't have bamboo leaning on it.
