Welcome to critter madness—the good kind. For those of you with a short attention span, Buckhorn State Park is guaranteed to capture—and keep—your attention. The diverse landscape of the park covers floodplain forest to prairie to savanna and even desert like areas. Amongst the madness is Buckhorn Wildlife area: 1,643 of dedicated acres of conifer forest and wetlands managed to preserve and protect natural habitats for little critters like beavers, muskrats, otters and minks as well as the majestic birds of the northern hemisphere: osprey, geese, herons, cranes, ducks, hawks and owls. Once mammal time is over, check out the scenic sandblow vista is the center of it all to really mix things up a bit.
