Lake Brownwood State Park
Pick your fun at this popular getaway for Dallas-Fort Worth residents.
Frolic in, on, or near the water. Several beaches will cool you off on a hot summer's day. Be prepared for the crowds coming from DFW. Bring your own boat or rent a jet ski, canoe, or motorboat. This lake offers waterskiing, boogie boarding, tubing, and pontoon boats.
Cast your line in the water to catch dinner. Bass, crappie, and channel cats rule this lake. With hundreds of inlets and a 95-foot depth, there are plenty of big ones for everyone. The park loans out fishing poles in case you forget yours.
Lake Brownwood has 6 miles of trails, most notably the bicycle-friendly Nopales Ridge Trail. There are plenty of benches and picnic spots along the route. Those come in handy during scorching summer months.

The cheapest sites in the park are here, cheap because they are simply a flat area of cleared land with a grill and picnic table (which is more than you need anyway, right, you roughneck you). This site is meant just for RV’s. It has the most complete list of amenities other than the cabins at Comanche Trails: picnic tables, an outdoor grill, and hookups for water, sewage, and 20/30/50 amp electricity.
