Need a change of scenery? How about treating yourself to a little eye candy with a visit to Palisades State Park, one of the most unique landscapes in South Dakota. The Split Rock Creek has carved out gorges of billion year old Sioux quartzite that tower above the rushing water up to 50-feet in some spots, and offer killer views for photographers and geology admirers alike. There are four hiking trails that wind along the quartzite for hikers to explore the views and have a picnic, and rock climbers can get in on some action here too. Settle into the campground and explore this awesome land for a few days or more, and bring the boat and fishing pole along too. Variety is the spice of life!
