Featuring an amazing rustic cabin, nine riverside campsites, along with paddock and bush sites, all 4WD accessible and two equally stunning 2WD accessible sites. You’ll share our spaces with kangaroos, wallabies, emus, echidnas, deer, platypus and more. Enjoy some optional extras, including Tammie's home made bread, farm fresh, free range eggs, or one of our range of grazing platters, home made jams or hot chocolate kits. Or pamper yourself with a Crystal reiki session, or tarot reading. The 2WD accessible sites feature spectacular views to the right, towards Mt Panorama and Mt Horrible and towards Mt Canobolas to the left. Each campsite offers its own unique features for you to enjoy and a hand crafted pit toilet is accessible to those camped along the river bank. There are many spots in the various 4WD accessible paddocks around the property to camp to your hearts content. Plenty of room for children to run around in a safe farm environment further away from the river, so choose your spot, under the shade of a tree or out in the open. PLEASE NOTE: Our paddock sites are NOT located on the river bank. These sites are 500 - 700 metres walk from the river but this doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to swim. If you’re not into actual camping in tent or trailer form, come spend some time in our insulated rustic cabin that has been lovingly built by Damo. Featuring an open floor plan with a queen bed, a bunk bed and two singles, this space can accomodate up to 6 people. Sheets are provided but guests will need to provide their own blankets and pillows. Heating and cooking are facilitated by a cast iron wood fire, featuring two hot plates and an oven space and there is a cold water sink for drinking water and dishes. Some wood will be provided for your stay. Once this is gone, you may purchase extra. A small fridge will facilitate some food and drink storage but you may need to bring a portable fridge/esky as well. A gas powered shower can be hired if required. A new long drop is under construction closer to the cabin but for the moment, feel free to use the communal long drop near the camp kitchen. A rechargeable lantern is supplied for you to take with you. The cabin is solar powered, with usb points for phone charging, but no other power points. There is also an outdoor fire pit, and outdoor setting if you’d prefer to cook outside, or simply sit around it enjoying the ambience of being in nature. Wood for the fire pit will need to be brought in, or feel free to collect fallen wood from around the property. Please DO NOT cut down or deface any standing trees. A fantastic location for a girls or boys weekend, somewhere for the elders or non camping family members to stay, or for a weekend away with the family camping without actual camping!

This is the most magical camping spot! We decided to come here to trial our new tent and have decided this will be our go to camping place. We spent one night, but as we left we all talked about how it had felt like we had been there for days. The horses were am added bonus to our trip, so gentle and inquisitive. It was a magical place. I went there to clear my head and definitely found peace in that wide beautiful camping spot. The views were astounding both sunrise and sunset. From the moment we arrived, owners Damo and Tammie made us feel so welcome — genuinely lovely people, down to earth, who clearly take pride in their property. The campsite itself is peaceful and full of charm — we loved being able to pat the friendly horses and llamas that wander around. The river is absolutely beautiful, perfect for a quiet stroll, fishing, swimming or just relaxing by the water. And I have to say — the best, most imaginative deep drop toilet we’ve ever used while camping! Clean, well set up, and surprisingly pleasant. This camp ground is also great for kids. If you’re after a relaxing stay with great hosts, stunning views, and a touch of farm life, Wattons Airstrip is a must-visit!

It was a great place to camp with beautiful scenery. Really cool driving there with a 4wd, just try to get there before it's dark or it gets a bit tricky to find the location. Make sure you get to spend a bit more time as I was in a bit of rush and didn't get to really fully enjoy it as much as I'd love like to but other than that it was really good. Especially if you get up early in the morning is a lot of nature around and it's a very beautiful place.

Wonderful spot by the river. Dogs had a blast. Composting toilet means one less thing to carry. Made it in and out in a fully loaded Outback. Just need to choose the lines best suited to the lower ground clearance.

Hosts Damo and Tammie made us feel genuinely welcome. Their generosity and laid back style of hospitality set the tone for a relaxing getaway. The property is hugely spacious, with campsites thoughtfully spread out to ensure privacy. Take care: Access to riverside camp sites is via steep and rocky track. A high clearance 4x4 is a must. You’ll need low range, especially if you are towing. As for our site this visit … Clancy of the Overflow was just 1 row back from the riverbank, in the far corner for privacy … but a hike to the loo. The pre-ordered homemade bread and fresh laid eggs was also a treat. We’ll be back.

Large 2WD/ Caravan Hillside Site

1st time on top of the hill in our caravan (our 4th time staying there - 3 times swag camping down on the river). Hosts are welcoming and accommodating. It was gale force winds and the hilltop site is very exposed, amazing views!. It is a large flat area suitable for big vans, short track up is rocky but easily traversed. Our van is 21ft. After 2.nights we asked to move to a more sheltered spot, they said set up wherever we like. Got free range eggs from Tam as well - super bright yolks. Thanks again.

I booked The Beach site by the river but Damien talked me out of taking my VW camper van down the track as it has low clearance. I stayed at Hillside site instead with spectacular views. Thankfully the weather was great but I wouldn’t want to be there with a strong westerly blowing. I walked the 1km down to the river which was worth it. Spent 3 hrs there to myself, swimming, and chatting to the friendly horses. The highlight was watching a platypus from Deep Spot site for at least half an hour bobbing up and down feeding along the opposite bank. Damien was a lovely host 😊 Would recommend with a high clearance 4WD only.

Had a lovely time at Watton Airstrip! Hosts sent through clear details regarding check in and directions. The site was well kept and didnt need to level the van much. We camped with a 15ft off-road caravan, so the way down was a bit tricky at some spots... Thanks Tammie and Damien for sharing your beautiful farm with us, we leave with some beautiful photos and memories.

Amazing location, what a beautiful place to stay, camping just alongside of the river, surrounded by nature and wildlife. Plenty space between campsites giving you privacy. Great place for sky watching at night. Would recommend 100%. We were a group of 7 plus a German shepherd and we all loved it. We camped at edges river location and it was just stunning location.

What a find! A genuine 4x4 only river camp. We stayed on the happy camper site. Beautiful level site just set back from the river and really well maintained. Grass is mowed so you can see where you're going and neat rock firepits designated to each site. Damien and Tammie are easy to find and more than happy to help with any questions. An easy drive from bathurst but please, 4x4 only means 4x4 only! For your safe access and to minimise hassles for other campers heading in or out. We'll be back for sure.

Watton Airstrip is a beautiful, open, and scenic campsite. We stayed at Hog Heaven, located right by the riverbank with a stretch of sand that felt like our own little beach. The only downside was that some campers walked through our site to access the river, which affected the sense of privacy, despite there being several other entry points along the bank. Damien and Tammy were wonderful hosts and quick to answer any questions. The presence of friendly horses wandering around added to the great experience. Our second time at Watton Airstrip and just as enjoyable as the first. We were only a small group so Sunny Side was huge for us, but still a great spot. Perfect for larger groups with multiple vehicles/camper trailers. Can’t wait to come back.
